What we know is that there was a smaller fire that broke out in the same area only hours before that five alarm fire. The building is on 14th street between south bend and the inner mission district. Firefighters responded to a mattress fire on erie street behind the building at 11 30 pm on monday. This was on the backside of bart field sales than to sit 6 30 am they were called back for a larger fire that quickly spread through a roller structures. The fire was upgraded to five alarms with huge plumes of fire. One witness had to evacuate and said its not like burning tires. Two buildings were destroyed and four were damaged including one firefighter who was injured and had to be taken to the hospital. He did sustain traumatic injuries as result of blunt force trauma. While he was actively in gauged in directi operations he was taken to a paramedic with sam cisco fire and transported to the fire trauma center. We were extremely inquisitive and they made sure that every aspect was look that. And he will be okay. Firefighters aback at the scene this morning. The owner says that he saw no sign of flames there until he open the door to the building yesterday morning. Within 10 minutes the whole building was gone. And we are currently working with the Business Owners and when i say we thats the city of San Francisco through the red cross. Systems and Services Made available to them to allow them to recover through this providing services to their employees. To the employers themselvesd he. The fire currently remains under investigation. The task force was here early. During the second alarm phase of the incident yesterday and they remain here as we speak today. The process for Fire Investigation is very scientific. And quite detail oriented. We do know and we are aware that there was a mattress fire to the rear of 140 14th street which would be the rear of 140 14th street. Last night at 11 30 pm. At this time the Fire Investigation task force is looking at that incident. They were at that incident last night investigating that and confirming that the incident was completely extinguished. And they will follow up with that to see if there is a nexus to that incidents. At this point to say that there is would merely be speculative. San franCisco Fire Department will be on scene for an estimated 2 to 3 more days for this fire. The 100 block of 14th street will be closed to pedestrian and through traffic. We are currently working with companies such as the Glass Company you can see behind us who we were able to save a portion of those buildings. They luckily have another site here in San Francisco. The owner has deliveries of glass coming in. We did work with that individual last night to facilitate that process to occur smoothly so they could at least continue to work as best as possible. Erie street is the back street in that location there was a mattress fire within a homeless encampment. It was put out and extinguished by intracompany six. And they arrived on scene to investigate that fire which is currently under investigation. Weve had some media sources that have been asking if that was the cause of the fire. Or if they had a nexus to the fire. And we are openly stating that we are aware of the fire and we are including that in the investigation process. It was out already.
