New this morning, Antioch Police are investigating a double shooting outside of 7 eleven that left a woman dead and a man rijud. The two were in their car outside the stor the woman was in the head, the man was hit several times and rushed to John Muir Medical Center. Police are still looking for more information on what happened as well is the identity of the attacker. Debris froms mask is a scattered across a san jose neighborhood after driver crashed into several parked cars and then took off. Lets bring in sara zendehnam. The San Jose Police department is actually looking for several suspects involved in this hit and run. The Department Says the driver was in a stolen car and crashed into at least four parked cars. This video shows the moment the driver hit one parked car. They were going so far to push the car out of the camera spring. There were several sets x inside the stolen car according to the pd. After the crash they ran and havent been found yet. No one was hurt. This all happened on south capitol avenue in san jose just before midnight. San jose Police Officers spen ecked out the damage which, on most of these cars was extensive. We spoke to one of the owners whose car was destroyed but says it could have been worse. I imagine if there is a person inside of the car, easily that person could have just been dead and a Family Member could have lost somebody. People dont realize what theyre doing. At least 19 cars were damaged on south capitol avenue after police say a 24yearold took a baseball bat to the windows. This happened just a block away from the hit and run but we dont know if the two incidents are connected. The San Jose Police department is asking anyone with information on the hit and run to give them a call. Oakland mayor libby schaaf is calling for peaceful protests , saying the violence and vandalism in oakland over the weekend is just what President Trump wants to see to send in federal troops. The oakland protest was organized by wall of moms bay area. A young woman who was a volunteer medic at the oakland protest talked about the behavior of protesters. Whether or not people protest peacefully or not isnt going to be whether or not trump decides to send his troops here because he already has, this preconceived notion of what oakland is. So far theres no word from the Trump Administration about specific plans to send federal Law Enforcement to oakland. Firefighters in oakland quickly put out that fire set by protesters saturday night at the Alameda County courthouse. Oakland police say a group among the protesters set the fire to show support for street protest in portland, oregon. They make more reaction from the head of the San Francisco chapter of the naacp. Reverend amos brown told ktvu that it doesnt matter if the protesters are black or white, they are disrespecting the activists who fought for equality during the civil rights movement. None of these people full who are doing these violent acts, i believe they have been planted there in order to divert the attention of the American Public away from the main thing and that is justice and equality. They smashed car windows and damage to businesses. Police made at least 40 arrests and 20 officers were injured. New this morning, a Shopping Center parking lot still sealed off after a deadly shooting several hours ago. Police are investigating and looking for a killer. A woman killed, another man critically injured. Lets take you to the scene so you can see what this looks like your this is the 7 11 in buchanan road. Right now you see a tow truck that is just arriving and is going to remove the suv that this man and woman were sitting and when they were shot multiple times according to Antioch Police. They were sitting in the parking lot around 12 30 this morning when someone approach to them. Heres what police had to say. It appears that they were seated in the vehicle and they were targeted by a subject who approached them on foot. The woman in suv died from her injuries. The man was taken to John Muir Medical Center in serious condition overnight. We dont have an update on his condition so far this morning but police have not found or identified the gunman. We dont know why the couple was targeted, we dont know if any witnesses have come forward, Antioch Police have also not identified the victims of the shooting yet. We are not sure some of the businesses in this area including 7 11 have video surveillance, but we are still following up with police this morning and checking for more information. In the meantime you can expect the parking lot of that 7 eleven near buchanan and gentry town in antioch to remain closed. A tow truck has arrived to remove the vehicle of the victims. The Alameda CountySheriffs Department is awarding its second death for their coronavirus. Valerie leon worked as a technician since 1997. Earlier this month she took a trip to the grand canyon with her granddaughter. She experienced symptoms on and off during the trip. Once home, she was hospitalized for six days before succumbing to the virus. It is heartbreaking. She was a tremendous woman, she was a fighter, we really thought she was going to beat this. The motorcade from the Sheriff Department saturday escorted hers casket from modesto to the Coroners Office in oakland. Shes the second to play with the Alameda CountySheriff Department to die of covid19. Deputy oscar rocha died on thursday with after a three week battle with the coronavirus. His wife was by his side. Deputy rocha was 56 years old. He had been a deputy for 25 years. In Contra Costa County, almost 70 of the people who died from covid19 lived in assisted living facilities. New figures from Contra Costa CountyHealth Services show 71 of the water to two deaths in the county were longterm care residents. That is a lot higher than the statewide numbers. Those state numbers show 46 of covid19 deaths were of people in assisted living centers. By comparison, from santa clara and alameda counties, they are more in line with the state death rate. And a group called california caregivers for compromise want Governor Newsom to help them out. They want a plan so that elderly residents in care homes dont suffer from being isolated and being lonely. Organizers want to be able to visit their clients if both are healthy enough to do it. They say theyre teaming up with some of the 400,000 families who have loved ones in longterm care centers to push for change. This a hit and run comes days after another incident in the same neighborhood. At least 19 cars were damaged on south capital avenue after police say a 24yearold took a baseball bat to the windows. This happened just a block away from the hit and run, but we dont know if these two incidents are connected. The San Jose Police department is asking anyone with information on the hit and run to give them a call. Oakland mayor libby schaaf is calling for peaceful protest, saying that violence in vandals and that happened of the weekend is exactly what President Trump wants to see, saying that it will give him a reason to send in federal troops. Lets go back to that headlines. We are keeping an eye on adele developing story out of the sacramento area. Dozens of protesters have showed up outside Governor Newsoms house. They have posted a sign saying free them all on the gate to the main drive. There were people in jail and prison to be released because of the risk of exposure to covid19. So far no Immediate Response from the Governors Office about the protest. They looking for the person who had shot and killed one person and injured another. Yes they are still at the scene although it may appear to be wrapping up part of their investigation at that scene. This happened just after midnight this morning. Antioch police say a woman and a man sitting in their parked suv were targeted and shot. This happened at the 7eleven parking lot. And just within the past hour, a tow truck arrived to remove the white suv that the couple was sitting in when they were shot. Making multiple shell casings, as you can see there, crime scene tape locked up the entire parking with several vehicles still parked inside overnight. Police have not identified a gunman but have said the man and woman were sitting in there has to be when they were shot multiple told times. It seems they were seated in the vehicle and they were targeted by subject to approached them on foot. Police have not found or identified the gunman. The women in that suv died from their injuries at the scene. The man was taken to John Muir Medical Center. Antioch police have not identified the victims and we are not sure if some of the businesses in this area, including that 7eleven may have Surveillance Video that will help investigators piece together what happened here and find the person or people responsible, but we continue to check in with police morning for more information. The Alameda CountySheriffs Department is morning its a contest for the covid19 pandemic in just the past week. 61yearold she experiences comes on and off during that ty breathing. Once home, she was hospitalized for six days before succumbing to the coronavirus. It is heartbreaking. She was such a tremendous woman. So she was such a fighter. We really thought she was going to beat this. The motorcade from the Sheriffs Department escorted her casket from Kaiser Permanente to her workplace in oakland. Shes a second employee to die from covid19 in a week. Deputy oscar rocha died thursday after a threeweek battle with the coronavirus. His wife was at his side. Deputy rocha was 56. Old. He had been a deputy for 25 years. Nearly 70 of people who have died from covid19 in Contra Costa County lived in assisted living facilities. Contra costa county Health Services released new data showing 71 of the 102 deaths in the county were longterm care residents. That is much higher than statewide numbers. Those state numbers show 46 of covid19 death were people in assisted living facilities. By comparison, other counties are more in line with the state death rate. A group called california caregivers for compromises is asking the governor for help. It wants a plant so elderly residents and care homes dont suffer from isolation and loneliness. Organizers want to be able to visit their client if both are healthy enough to do so. Joining forces with some of the 400,000 families who have loved ones in longterm care facilities to push for change.
