We want to show the merchants preparing for what they hope is going to be a busy day. What happened is it stores abruptly close wednesday because the Ferry Building was considered a shopping mall. When the city of San Francisco was put on the watchlist because of a spike in covid19, indoor malls had to close. San francisco clarified with the state that the Ferry Building is actually a transportation terminal. Transportation terminals are considered essential and can stay open. Now, 26 stores and restaurants are able to open and they are allowed to have customers inside, but they must practice social distancing. Everyone must wear a mask. There are hand sanitizing stations and extra cleaning measures in place, and the Farmers Market is open as well.
