Evacuation started after midnight for 10 homes on finley ridge road and they are still in place. The first call came in at 11 pm last night for a grass and brush fire burning on the side of anderson like. But cal fire says that it does not pose a threat to the city of morgan hill. The park fire has since burned 100 acres. 1520 homes sit in the hills. Fire crews evacuated 10 homes early this morning. Evacuation center is at Live Oak High School. Cal fire is asking people to avoid the area but do not feel that the fire is likely to travel closer to the lake or to threaten more homes. It started a long gun avenue and moving uphill on steep train. Difficult act access. The object is objective is to keep the fire from crossing finley ridge. Reporter easton avenue was closed off. Hellfire has 20 engines that include strike teams and expects tankers and helicopters will be on scene this morning. There is no indication yet if this wildfire is fireworks relay. Cal fire says the cause is still under investigation. Again, 10 homes had to be evacuated near anderson like that fire crews do not expect it to threaten any more homes near morgan hill. This morning, firefighters all across the bay area are watching out for hotspots from dozens of fires that broke out during a long fourth of july night. Firefighters in Contra Costa County say they dealt with more than 50 fires during the 9 00 hour alone. Investigator saint most of the fires were caused by illegal fireworks. There will be extra fire crews drawing the entire county during the rest of this Holiday Weekend. Bulldozers and the hand crew is on a 24 hour schedule the remainder of this weekend. Investigators say only two homes were damaged in the dozens of fires across Contra Costa County last night and no reports of any injuries. Of the city of pittsburgh was one of the many troubled spots for firefighters last night. This was the scene late last night as a fastmoving car came dangerously close to some homes on southwood drive not far from oak hills park. Firefighters from a number of east bay agencies all called into battle the flames. They managed to stop the flames from spreading to the hills to those homes. And oakland firefighters were also on high alert overnight concerned about illegal fireworks route the city. What we dont want to have is a residential fire. Clearly we want to make sure that the residential communities are safe. Any kind of evacuation during a pandemic is extremely scary with the idea of moving strangers into a commonplace. Officials say that they have received a consistent flow of phone calls about illegal fireworks for the last couple of days and responded to some of the fires. Take a look at the night sky. Officials closed grizzly peak in the Berkeley Hills as a precaution to avoid crowds as it is a very popular spot for people to watch fireworks across the bay area. Oakland police say they are not only concerned about fireworks but also celebratory gunfire. A challenge that we have is where we see injuries and some deaths due to friendly fire. A tree in east oakland caught fire and quickly spread. It is getting big, dude. It is unclear what started the fire but you can certainly hear the fireworks going off in the background. This was reported around 11 30 pm last night about a block north of parker elementary school. The San Francisco firefighters contained a fire that broke out at john mclaren park. A video of the fire near the cities visitation valley neighborhood. The fire burned about four acres when they found the got it under control. No injuries and no structures were damaged. Two people are dead and eight are injured after shooting at a South Carolina nightclub. A Greenville County sheriff stephanie call for backup at about 2 am eastern time for active gunfire from inside the lavish lounge. The Sheriffs Office said several hundred people were inside the building. Officials believe bandmembers who were performing were involved in the shooting. They are currently looking for at least two suspects. The back here in the bay area, coronavirus cases continue to rise. The bay area is reporting over 28,000 confirmed virus cases. Nearly 600 people have died. In, there are more than 253,000 cases. A 2000 case increase in the last 24 hours. 6300 people have died across the state. California reported 6000 hospitalizations yesterday. A record high. Another inmate has died at san quentin from complications related to covidien 19. He is identified as a death row inmate who is 59 years old. Since that he died in a haspel outside of the prison. He is the third inmate to die from the virus. As of yesterday, close to 1400 inmates and 165 prison plays were confirmed to have covid 19. Criminal justice advocates say the recent transfer of inmates from Southern California is the cause of the virus to spread at thinking. To make a federal judge hopes to avoid a similar outbreak at other prisons by calling on state prison officials to release older and at risk inmates. At a hearing thursday to track the states progress, courthouse news reported u. S. District judge john tiger saw greatly alarming conditions at the prisons. The u. S. Theres no fireworks this year so i decided to buy my own. We have a bunch of good stuff here so we are going to have fun. The fire broke out yesterday afternoon off sheridan road. It burned about 85 acres. Helicopters dropped water and flame retardant on that fire to keep it from spreading to nearby homes. At last check, the fire was 70 contained. No word on how it got started. The ntsb is investigating after a private plane made an Emergency Landing in a san jose part. The lance air took off from reed hill view airport when the pilot reported he was having a problem. He couldnt get back to the airport safely so he landed in hillview you park north of the airport. The pilot was the only one on board. No one was injured. The city of oakland plans to resume enforcing limits on all of its parking meters starting tomorrow. City leaders say theyre taking this step as more businesses open and more people need places to park. They say when parking meters are not enforced, cars can sit in a parking space for hours keeping other people from using it. The city says all other parking regulations that have been temporally suspended including residential permits, are still not being enforced. Time now is 7 36 am. The state of california has denied a request to ease some of the current lockdown rules in Santa Clara County. The county wanted to allow new sons, james and other businesses to reopen and also planned to change the rules to permit larger public gatherings in Santa Clara County. But the state reportedly rejected that request in a move that could cause more confusion in santa cleric countys efforts to eventually reopen. Clinical trials starts tomorrow in stamford on a possible treatment for the coronavirus. It is called a entry viral pill that is meant to be taken early when there are mild symptoms of 19. The drug is made by fuji pharma and approved for use in china, india and russia. Last week the maker of the drug remedy there set it conducted test on a spray that could be inhaled instead of injected. Doctors say simplifying 19 drugs will help patients in hospitals and at home alike. If we could have oral pills that people can just swallow as an outpatient, that will be huge for covid19. In the coming trust, the stanford drug with 120 patients being given the drugs or a placebo to see if they are effective and test results may be available by the end of summer. The World Health Organization said its in Clinical Trials on the anti malaria drug hydroxychloroquine. Who Officials Say they will accept the recommendation from the Truck Committee which said the drug showed little or no reduction in mortality rates in hospitalized patients compared to standard care. Hours before it was set to expire, on june 30, Congress Passed the bill sending it to President Trump status. The ppp was established back in march with part of the Economic Relief effort. Parking lots at San Francisco beaches are also closed including at ocean beach and victor beach. I guess we got to stay away from the beaches and other hot one on top today. In lynn 90 degrees . Give or take. Probably around 95 or 96 degrees. But the temperatures are hot across the entire bear. At least were not talking about a big dome of hot area over the entire region. A wildfire burning near Anderson Lake outside morgan hill forced the evacuation of at least 10 homes per the fire has already burned 100 acres and containment is still at zero. Lee martinez joins us with more on what cal fire is doing with the park fire. Good morning. Reporter good morning. I just spoke to the cal fire command chief who said the evacuations for 10 homes on finley road will likely last throughout the day. The first call came in at 11 pm last night for a grass and brush fire burning on the east side of Anderson Lake. But cal fire said it does not pose a threat to the city of morgan hill. The park fire has since burned 100 acres. 1520 homes sit in the hills. Fire crews effectively 10 homes after midnight. Evacuation center is located at Live Oak High School. Fire is asking people to avoid the area but do not feel that the fire is likely to travel closer to the lake or to any more homes. It is moving uphill in steep terrain. Difficult access for fire crews. The objectives is to keep the fire from crossing finley ridge. Reporter east dunn avenue was closed off at holiday lake estates before reaching anderson like. Fire has 20 engines including strike teams. Catheter say the air tankers and helicopters are heading to the fire now and they will soon have a better idea of the acreage burned and possible threats. Cal fire said the wind will shift today out of the northwest so there is a chance that the jackson oaks subdivision could be threatened by this fire. So far there is no indication if this weather is fireworks related. Cal fire said that cause is still under investigation. This one, firefighters from all across the bay area are watching out for hotspots from dozens of fires that broke out during a long fourth of july night. Firefighters in Contra Costa County say that dealt with more than 50 fires during the 9 00 hour alone. Investigators say most of the fires were caused by illegal fireworks. There will be extra fire crews patrolling the entire county during the rest of this Holiday Weekend. We have obviously hired back Additional Resources from our own personnel within the Fire District to staff up additional edges. Bulldozers and the hand crew is on a 24 hour schedule for this weekend. Investigators that only two homes were damaged in the dozens of fires across construct cost the county last night and no reports of injuries. And lee martinez is following the story for us this morning. Alameda county had a vegetation fire. This is where the fire broke off on sheridan road. 85 acres has burned. Helicopters dropping water and flame retardant on the fire to keeping it from spreading to nearby homes. The fire is about 70 contain. No word on how it got started. The state of california has denied a request to ease some of the current lockdown rules in Santa Clara County. The mercury news reports that the county wanted to allow nestlings, gyms and other businesses to reopen. It also planned to change the rules to permit larger public gatherings. But the state reportedly rejected that request in a move that could cause more confusion in santa clara counties efforts to reopen. The coronavirus pandemic is creating new hazards this fire season. California is facing a severe shortage of firefighting crews made up of prison inmates. The Sacramento Bee reports less than half of the state in may crews are available because of covid19 outbreaks in Northern California prisons. That includes the prison where inmates are trained to serve on fire crews. The inmates generally serve as hand crews using chainsaws and shovels to create fire breaks when fires threaten properties and neighborhoods. Checking out the conditions around the hills east of morgan hill east of 101 and one site, Cordova Ridge 70 degrees with humidity, 25 with the winds light but they will pick up this afternoon out of the northwest. A wildfire burning near Anderson Lake and morgan hill forced evacuations of 10 homes overnight and the fire has burned 100 acres and at last check containment was at zero. Leigh martinez joins us with more on the fire. I spoke with the campfire command chief who said the evacuation for 10 homes will last through today. Air tankers and helicopters are currently fighting the fire from above this morning but there is another possible threat if the wind shifts later today. The first call came in around 11 00 p. M. Last night for the bush fire burning on the east side of Anderson Lake and the park fire has since burned 100 acres. 15 to 20 homes who sit in the hills with fire crews evacuating 10 homes after midnight but cal fire says it does not pose a threat to the city of morgan hill. We start along the avenue, difficult access for fire crews and are objective is to keep the fire from crossing the bridge. Evacuation center is located at Live Oak High School at this time and cal fire does not think homeowners will be allowed back in today. Easton avenue is closed. Cal fire is asking people to avoid the area do not feel the fire is likely to travel closer to the lake or to threaten more homes. Cal fire has 20 engines that include strike teams and air support. Cal fire says the wind is expected to shift today out of the northwest. There is the chance that the jackson oaks subdivision could be threatened by the fire. There is no indication yet if the wildfire which was started by fireworks last night, cal fire says because it is still under investigation. The firefighters all across the bay area are watching out for hotspots from dozens of fires that broke out during a long fourth of july night. Firefighters in the county say they dealt with more than 50 fires during the 9 00 hour alone. Investigators say most of the fires are caused by illegal fireworks. There will be extra fire crews patrolling during the rest of this Holiday Weekend. We have obviously hired back Additional Resources from our own and the Fire District to staff additional engines, bulldozers, the hand crew on a 24 hour schedule. Investigators say two homes were damaged and dozens of fires across the county last night and there are no reports of any injuries. The city of pittsburgh one of the many trouble spots for firefighters last night. Check out the scene late last night as a fastmoving fire came dangerously close to homes southwood drive not too far from oak hills park. So close that firefighters from another of east bay agencies called in to battle the flames and they did manage to stop the fire from spreading from the hills onto those homes. Oakland firefighters were on high alert overnight concerned about illegal fireworks throughout the city. What we dont want to have his residential fire and we want to make sure that residents are safe and any kind of evacuation is extremely scary to the idea of moving strangers into a commonplace. Officials say the have received a consistent flow of calls about illegal fireworks for the last three days and have responded to some fires and overnight patrols roaming around the city to watch out for fireworks and officials closed grizzly peak as a precaution as the popular tourist spot for people to look at fires. Police say they are not only concerned about fireworks and also about celebratory gunfire. A challenge that we have where we have seen celebratory gunfire and we know what goes up has to come down and that is a real concern. Its unclear what started the fire but you can see and hear fireworks go off. The fire was reported around 11 30 pm last night one block north of parker elementary school. San francisco firefighters have contained a fire that broke out in john mclean park. Fire Officials Say the fire burned four acres when they got it under control. No injuries and no structures were damaged. Coronavirus cases continue to rise in the bay area, the big error reporting 25,000 confirmed virus cases and 600 people have died. In california more than 253,000 cases, 2000 case increase in the last 24 hours. 6300 people across the state have died. California reported 6000 hospitalizations yesterday and that is a record high. Another inmate has died in san quentin from complications related to covid19 identified as duane carry a death row inmate who was 59 years old and Officials Say he died yesterday at the hospital outside the prison. He is the third inmate to pass from the virus and is yesterday close to 1400 inmates, 165 prison employees confirmed have covid19. The criminal justice advocates say the recent transfer of inmates from Southern California is the cause of the fire that has spread at the prison. A federal judge helps to avoid a similar outbreak in another prison i calling on state prison officials to release older and at risk inmates in a hearing thursday to track the progress. A u. S. District judge said he saw gravely concerning conditions at the solano in vacaville state prisons. The u. S. Supreme court has ordered the state to lower its inmate population. One last update one more time, the fire burning in southern Santa Clara County in the last few minutes cal fire said the park fire is 200 acres and is only 20 contained. It broke out shortly after 11 00 p. M. Last night and has forced the evacuation of 10 homes nearby and has burned hundreds of acres with 0 containment. Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of that fire. 20 containment so far. United airlines resuming the service between sfo and shanghai this week and starting wednesday there will be two flights each week from San Francisco to seoul, south korea that will continue on to shanghai. Flights will be on wednesdays and saturdays with return flights on thursdays and sundays. United announced it is teaming up with the oakland based clorox to find the best way to keep the jets clean during flights. The last time there was service to shanghai out of the bay area was in february. One of the montereys peninsula most popular tourist attraction is set to reopen and will welcome back donors and vips on thursday and will reopen to the general public one week from tomorrow with strict new social distancing guidelines.
