Take a live look at santa cruz. The county beaches are back open today. There are some restrictions out there including the boardwalk. It will remain closed for the foreseeable future. But, if you want to put your toes in the sand, you indeed now have the green light out there in Santa Cruz County. We cant take the show on the road we can still zip trip away, welcome along. Look, our first two zip trips we saw focused on education. We focused on the food industry. Today its all about summertime. I think about summertime, today, i think about going to the community pool. Unfortunately for some folks, that is not going to happen this summer. I think about backyard grills, not a halfdozen people, talking 50 people with red solo cups, that is not going to happen. Live music, i was supposed to see a concert next thursday. That is not going to happen. But besides all that, you can still go do things. The most important part about this, like many we have each other. We have family. I think its going to be the focus moving forward. The benefit, all of us have set it come i want to say again the benefit is ive been spending a lot more time with my nuclear family, we do everything together. So, everything is adventure. And, our expectations are coming up, as i said, pretty low which means, everything is good, you know, little trip can mean a lot. That is what we are going to talk about basically, little trips that we can take just to break up the monotony. , look, i drove all the way to el cerrito to prison visit my brothers and her two children brought my two little boys like you are having the time of their lives, playing with a bmx dirt track in the front yard, we are actually spending far more time together 6 apart but still, you know, most of the some of these kids would be with swim team, or at cam talbot this time, all the family is altogether. And staying safe. Staying at home in the bay area. We cant forget the fact that the area is home to a number of events that usually take over parts of San Francisco and other cities throughout the summer months. This weekend would have been a huge weekend in San Francisco. Pride weekend. 50 years of pride in San Francisco, we are taking on a whole new meeting in 2020. The in person traditions are now shifting to virtual platforms. And we will talk live with the board president of pride to find out more about changes to this weekend big pride celebration. Also, getting back into the great outdoors, we will go live to Golden Gate Park to give you a sense of what to expect when you visit your favorite local, state, or national parks. Look what is old is new again. We show you how some bygone favorites such as drive in Movie Theaters are making a big comeback in 2020. That and some other inexpensive ways to have fun this summer coming up this hour. You need to get away . By the way, who doesnt . There are a lot of Northern California attractions just a guess take away. We have more on that, lets go to frank who has been given the job to tell us more. I think we all need to get away a little bit. According to, napa valley of course is wide open, not far away, with restrictions things are open but they are open right now. Yosemite has only two campsites open at this time, they are going to open more but wait until august. That is of course, permitting there. Now the beach and crr in your travel jim, guess what . You are in luck. Were going to often acr and everybodys favorite, lake tahoe. I am coming to South Lake Tahoe the casinos, the casinos are open for business. You are going to find changes with each one which is different. Going around in california, you will find we really look forward here in el dorado, alpine and nevada county. And how we have been open. So, restaurants are open, the lodges are opening. You know, campgrounds are now open, i just talked to Lisa Harrington at the u. S. For service, they are starting to open up the campground as we move along. The beaches . Can you jump into the lake . In certain areas . What is that like . Actually. So, you know, the beach, the south shore up on the north shore, along the west shore is open, sugar pine state park, bliss state park, all open, emerald bay open the parking lots are not open around the area. Lake isabella 56 point i degrees, it is still a little bit called, i think one thing you can guarantee is, a great few and likely come a good time there. Absolutely. I mean, where you go in and around the lake of the Mountain Biking is safe jessica guay, we have thundershowers, Mountain Biking areas are good, the fishing is good and hopefully, floating down the reporter it is fantastic and then, just all the businesses in general, there is a shift in restaurants, we are actually out in the city outside of us you are going to travel along in a way you have never seen umbrellas on the side of the road, youre going to see a lot of restaurateurs out there, and was depend on it, they are taking their restaurants outside. Which is really cool. If you want something more at sea level, how about a road trip to santa cruz . But, expect changes there too. In santa cruz, we are slowly reopening in a way that is safe and sustainable. Only war for example, restaurants and retails are open. So people can drive out, walk on to the wharf, shop and dine as they normally would. Hotels and in santa cruz variously reopening with restrictions lifted. So, they are welcoming folks back to their rooms as they have in the past. The beach in Santa Cruz County still has some regulations and restrict his unit. People can recreate on the beach, the 411 and after 5 00 them, but, the beaches are supposed to be closed to the public except for water exercise like surfing, swimming, things like that from 11 00 until 5 00. So, those rules and regulations are still in place. In Santa Cruz County. How about the boardwalk . Is it open . What parts are close . The main thing is rides remain closed and, we have not opened all of the food and all of the retail locations. So, it is very limited in the way we are reopening and we are trying to make sure that we do it in a way that is safe with health first and foremost and Everything Else second. Let me update you on the beaches in santa cruz. Elissa harrington is been reporting all morning long, Santa Cruz County deciding they just could not enforce some of the rules, the covid19 rose, so now the beaches are open. By the way, if you are heading up to lake tahoe, and you love the fourth of july fireworks, incline and the south shore tahoe city over the lake. Sorry. Im told they have decided not to shoot off the fireworks because he didnt want to draw crowds and they also have extreme fire danger there. It still lake tahoe in all its beauty. Happy summer commemorative. Im frank malik, you can continue with fox 2 news. All right, think of that. As we know california is just filled with local state and national parks. As people are slowly getting out of their homes to try to enjoy these parks, those parks are starting to reopen, park rangers you want to take a moment here to remind everybody that they are doing their best to keep everybody safe and to keep everybody healthy, we talk more about this, we are joined by a sergeant and park ranger in San Francisco. Sergeant, thank you for joining us. Happy summer two. All, happy summer two and thank you for having me. Yes, course, look i know you group in the bay area, i grew up in the bay area, is it safe to say that summertime and parks here just kind of go hand inhand . Always. Always. It is our favorite time of the year for the park rangers. But yes, you know, i know a lot of my friends say look, forget the bars and forget the restaurants, forget the resorts. You know, we want to be outside. Im sure and curious im sure the past three or four weeks, have you yourself noticed an increase of people visiting the parks around you . Will, most definitely. We have 240 parks, some more in San Francisco. And great thing, some of the positive sides to the virus is that it gets people outside where they can enjoy parks from a safe distance. To spend time with her family and get some muchneeded respite from the things that are going on. So, we are happy to welcome everybody. You know, whether is in San Francisco or other counties here in the bay area, or beyond. Im sure you have friends in the business and industry another raiders out there. But, what advice would you give individuals out there . Because it is different obvious this time around. Summertime, campgrounds and state parks. National parks. We telling people before they leave their house when it comes to visiting these popular spots . Well, what we are telling people is to make sure they obviously come out and enjoy our space but safely. If you are in a family unit, obviously you do not need to wear a mask however the homeowners requesting that everybody does wear a mask. That you stay a safe distance away from people that you do not know, especially with people that are exercising. Make sure you give a fair amount of space for people to pass you. We are still trying to avoid high touch areas like childrens play areas and stuff, but, we have so much open space at the park, so many places you can exit, and really enjoy yourself. I feel like its summertime. And still do it safety in spite of the current issues. Yes, you know, a lot of people at home are obviously having a debate or maybe some have been out there already. Others who have families or maybe they do not have families or debating, i do not know, i just do not want to go outside, those that are having the internal dilemma, the debate about whether or not to visit parks, what would you tell them . Well, i would say, please come to the parks, you are more than welcome to come out to the parks and enjoy yourself and get a little feeling of normal. To feel like summertithat peopl safely with respect to proper social distancing but other than that, we really want people to come out and start enjoying themselves. I am with you on that would. Somebody who spends a lot of time in San Francisco, i know your expertise is on Golden Gate Park. You know, from the panhandle all the way down to the ocean. I feel like i spent a lot of time in the park whether it was during football season, track season or having picnics with family but, do you think that i have been to every pocket of the park. For those who want to stay local, right . They do not want to go out to the skate park but stay in San Francisco, and physical to park me one or two of your favorite spots in the park to visit. I get asked this question a lot. It is always hard because, there are some amazing parks in Golden Gate Park alone. It really depends on what you are looking for. So, if you are looking to get out in wide open space and enjoy some sunshine, helmet hollow is a fantastic place to do that. Its a giant meadow. We have clean bathrooms, cleaned every the basis. It dips down a little bit so even on a windy or foggy day, you can actually kind of enjoy your self atlanta like it or lay out in the sunshine. And, you are a little bit protected from all of the crazy wind. Couple other things i actually love. The bison paddock. We have five brandnew buffalo. They are babies. We have one that is commemorative for the Golden Gate Park hundred and 50th birthday which happened in april. We still are planning to have a giant celebration and you can tell the one commemorative buffalo has two techs in her ear versus the normal one tag in her ear, so, its always fun to spot that. But you know it . I will say that is probably one of my favorite spots by the bison. Helmet hollow, that is a new one to me. That is one on my list. Its great. So can i will head there with my family and, you know, we appreciate the time and effort for everything you do as a park ranger and i am wishing you a great 2020 summer season. Thank you. All right. Be safe. Coming up, new take on fourth of july celebrations and honoring america. First, being prepared for the unexpected. Taking breaks with your summer park. We are speak with doctor lee at mcavoy the chief of general pediatrics at antioch at childrens hospital. Thank so much for joining us, doctor. The first thing i think about, because i have kids, when we go anywhere in the summer is, sunscreen or a put a hat on them. Because the kids do not know any better. They could get burned. What do you think is the most dangerous thing about the sun for example . Thank you for having me. So, sun exposure particularly combined with water exposure with water bring your temperature down, you may not even realize how hot it has been, the two thing is your ability to sense your skin is getting warm impaired by the cold water. Then, the second thing is, if you are in the water a long period of time, remembering to reapply sunscreen after a couple of hours. Some of the common things we see are sunburnt adults and children. So, doctor, we are also looking at people swimming and unfortunately, in the summertime, people in water safety sometimes have kids going out that cannot swim, then the parent has to go in and sometimes we have really been results with it. What do you suggest to get kids ready to play in the sand in the water . So, i think its important for parents to understand, especially if they are swimming in the ocean, if there are any reports of riptides or unsafe conditions. I think also, knowing the strength of your child as a swimmer, if your child is not a strong swimmer, making sure that you are within arms reach of them at all times or somebody who is a swot strong swimmer is close to the. For your kids to think they are better swimmers, still setting a demarcation around how far out they are allowed to go is also an important thing to do just to help keep them safe. Doctor, how is this comp located by covid19 . You know, we usually have these concerns, but now, we have the extra concern. How would you suggest parents navigate the new era we are in . So, i think one of the things we know is crowding and contact with others is a big driver of passing infection. We also know its hard for little children to wear a mask so for two and ones initiating and protecting social distancing for that. Or, 31011yearolds can wear masks but may need practice. If youre just hanging on the beach, maybe wearing a mask, going swimming, you can take the mask off of them. The other thing to sort of think about is handwashing. We all touch our faces a lot. And children touch their faces even more. So, having wipes to wipe their hands down after they have touched surfaces, really sort of limiting touching the face and having a defined time for eating, sort of setting as we go which is typically how my family enjoys the beach, probably will not work. Have a defined time where we clean her hands and eat then we go back to our activities to help keep us a little bit safer. Okay, doctor, before we go i want to circle back to something i forgot to ask you, suppose you were out in the sun and you find that your child has become sunburn. What is something you can do . Put aloe on it . Drink water . Obviously you get them out of the sun. What you do if your child has been sunburn . Yes, get them out of the sun as quickly as possible. It is helpful if you plan ahead and you have a little, even a cold towel, getting a towel and putting it in the water that you are in and laying it on the area and bringing your child home as soon as possible so, cooling the skin down. Doctor lee atkinson mcavoy, some good tips there, thank you for joining us and have a good summer. Thank you. All right, michael, this is one of my biggest things. You know, kids do not know they are getting sunburned, you heard the doctor say, the water can kind of throw you off because youre cool and then you show up and you look red as a beet, you know, at night. Then you cannot sleep so, do out es were little we would just slather them with sunscreen here now that they are big we think you get this i will get that would. You have to make it safe and make it happen. Coming up a minute on mornings on 2, a picture. Go ahead. Skull, no, i was just going to say, you know, im all about the eye contact, dont forget that. Whether you are at a pool or a lake, eyes on your child at all times. Because all it takes is when you see it, we have done this for decades in the business. We responded to stories where people have, you know, drought. So, keep your eyes and your children the summer. All right, still to come, raking out of the ordinary with some unusual summer activities at a low cost. Up next, we see the family fun to be had for less than 50. Devin, did you know geico is now offering an extra 15 percent credit on car and motorcycle policies . Ok . Thats 15 percent on top of what geico could already save you. So what are you waiting for . Dj khaled to be your motivational coach . Yo devin remember to brush in a circle motion. Thank you. Dj. Khaled. Tiny circles, devin. Do another one. Another one. Is this good . Put in that work, devin. Dont give up. Geico. Save an extra 15 when you switch by october 7th. How to enjoy some without breaking the bank. The Alameda County fair is not having this year, so instead of flying high on the rides, you can hunker down for retro fun at the fairgrounds. The fairgrounds are home to a temporary drive in Movie Theater showing classic movies such as Indiana Jones and the raiders of the lost ark on a big screen. They always come to the fair and this is a first in movie. They are not as common anymore. At least in my opinion. But, its good we can experience something that our parents expense when they were younger our age. We havent cooped up so it is time to do something in a positive way and enjoy family and still be connected. It is a nice way to see everybody and be together without actually breaking all the shelter in place is. In addition to the Alameda County fairgrounds, you can catch a drive in movie for one more night tonight at the San Mateo County event center. U. S. 1 Sonic Drivein in san jose, concord and sacramento are all in business and going strong. A fun daytime option is going on a boat ride at lake should go in castro valley, boat rentals just recently started up again. We are seeing tons of new faces, this time of the park enjoying just the trails and also enjoying the boat rentals as well as return customers. There is nothing extra nearly new except we ask everybody come out from the same household. We have a maximum of 40 guests per boat. As well as we put the rental contract and once you have it ready to go so you can bring that in with you rather than filling inside. Reporter a few things match. Com of boating on peaceful waters. You can breathe. You know . You can breathe. It is nature. It is the birds. Its the quietness, you know . On the lake. I mean, not only that, but meeting people too. Everybody has been so isolated. Many people say they appreciate return to simpler activities that might otherwise go overlooked in a normal summer. While some of these things are finding new audiences, for others, it is a return to the good old days. This is what we grow up with. Having a big station wagon, throw six kids in the back, popcorn, come out five cents for candy. There you go. Its all good. Okay, so, the same candidate would be what . Two dollars these days . Still, you can load up on your own snacks for the drive and have a family night of fun for about 30 or 35. Rentals run about 40 or 50 up to four people for a couple of hours. So, that, at the picnic on a perfect day. I have done both, they are incredible, we have links to these activities and moreover on the ktvu news app and its ktvu. Com. I had to explain to my children when a drive in movie was. Now they want to go with me. Yes. I mean, you know. I have not been to whatever in my life. So. If there is a time to do it. I guess is during the pandemic. So obviously. Yes. I told have not been since i have not gone. I even though if my wife has gone. I should ask that question later today. That is a great idea, i love the drive in idea. But also lecture bell, summer time for me is all about being on the water. Yes, you know, the good thing about the pandemic is, people have discovered you do not need to spend a lot of money just to have a lot this summer. Speaking of summer, what about keeping your cool . Kethe next half hour we tell yo how to beat the heat as the temperatures rise. Pride weekend is upon us, we tell you about the big names headlining San Franciscos the 50th private celebration and how you can still participate, even without the big parade in the city. [upbeat music] today was the day that i put everything in perspective. I fell asleep but when i woke up. boy hi, do you want to share my sandwich . vo good feeds our connections. Good feeds us all. Hormel Natural Choice lunch meats. You know, fourth of july is quickly approaching. Let me ask you a quick question if you had to choose, get to go to the parade . Or would you rather see the fireworks . I will go to first sale, parade or fireworks . Parade. No question. Is not that i do not like fireworks but a parade its really cool, you sit there, it is usually during the day, the family is out and, you know, people are waving and, you know, fireworks are good and all, but, you know, if you have small children, its a little bit more difficult. I will go for the parade. Okay, so, i will do fireworks. Growing up a little more, you know, we would gather at the big long, i think adele greens is what was called back then. Fourth of july was kind of your first chance to see your School Friends after school and a. So, was a mini reunion slash how to popcorn so defense of course, bling with your family and watch the heavens, so, going to have to go fireworks. Yes, becky dad would say was more fireworks. Then, i turned into a parade got. Yes, i love fourth of july praise. Tell you. The summer. They are just not happening around the bay area. Like we are used to seeing them. Although the kiwanis club of san ramon is still putting on a pretty famous parade in danville, although emphasizes, it is a virtual parade. It will be a virtual parade in danville. Ron goldstein is actually the chairman of the print i said look . Is there interest in the virtual parade . To give this example, that hey, look, past praise, when it came to participant, you usually have 125. He fell that up by saying for this virtual parade, we have 120 participants. Yes, something we look forward to every year. Like a big party. And, the town, 40 or 50,000 people come out of her year. Its fantastic. For the town of danville. Is resting you will messed the most . But the festive this, you know . Just being out there celebrating. My rule is the beginning of the parade, the mixing of the parade. So, there are people that get their at 7 00 in the morning and you know, start the parade you know, theres a lot of waiting around and its kind of a party atmosphere. It some point, you came to the conclusion, okay, maybe we cannot have a crowd but we can still bring this parade. How did that come about . Well, for one, be that is the 45th year, we had a string going and we did not want to break the strands. We just have a lot of pretty exciting memories, this is a big deal to them. So, you know, it came up that, what about virtual . I comes to the participants in the parade, will it be just like every other parade . Just not having the crowd . Or will it be a little bit shorter . Not as big . We started publicizing that we will do a virtual parade, sending out emails to every participant in the last three years i believe. Is will be addressed. And low and behold, we have about 120. About the same. That says a lot. It does say a lot. Everybody is pretty excited about it. Disappointed they cant dothem submit either a film clip, pictures. Something for the group as hopefully it will be something similar to what they had to do with they walked on the parade route some sense in film for a prior year, walking on a parade route. Some assent in still shots in the parade route, a lot of people sent in film clips, little advertising groups. All these clips are edited together with no live feed if somebody coming down the stream . No live feed, if somebody, street. There will be a Live Streaming of it. Yes. Are the sponsors still there for you . But we still seem to attract a lot of sponsors, yes. Not as many as we took we do. And, we discounted it in addition to that. But, typically, we raised 40,000 2000 a year and we go in the form of grants to various charities and the tri valley area. You the good thing about virtual, you get more eyes on it. Yes, i need to the city of danville. I know. We are looking for that. Its really hard to tell what the viewership is going to turn out to be. All right, the livestream on the four will start shortly at 10 00 morning, you can find on youtube, facebook, also, srv colitis has a website. I called around to other cities running a parade, that canceled, san jose, novato, madero is a big one, that is canceled. Also orinda. People in orinda are being encouraged to actually decorate their house for the fourth and with noon on july 4, everybody is being encouraged to go outside and scream, the reason is it will be a tribute to essential workers. Also, we found out there are a couple fireworks shows out there you cannot attend but this is how to move forward according to the city websites in gilroy happening at gilroy high school. Again, no parking, nobody can come, you are on the property and you can see going up. Then, the other at Chuck Hoffman field in cloverdale. Again, nobody can actually pull your cars up, but, being in cloverdale it is small from the house property or where you live you will be able to see the fireworks. Very good, you cannot keep the spirit. This is also coming up this weekend. The San Francisco pride celebration in years past will normally take over parts of the city, but, of course, the covid 19 pandemic, that is all change, this year the event celebrating 50 years of pride is largely online, lets talk more about this by welcoming carolyn weisinger the board president of San Francisco pride. Thank you for joining us. Thank you so much for having me. I remember the beginning of the pandemic a there was a question, would pride happen . Would it be a smaller pride in person . Tell me about the decision and the reaction to taking pride almost all online pics but you know, i do not have to tell you all, here in San Francisco we really have a jump on a lot of things because of our mayor. He took such early action so, we started having these conversations really in early march when the mayor first started talking about covid19. Then we are looking to see, would we delay it . Would it be smaller . You know, what does pride look like if its not in june . Then come as the shelterin place started to go on, we started having conversations about if that was really the best for the health of the committee. So, a neighbor, we made the decision to go ahead and cancel at least the in person event. So, we were very deliberate making that decision because on top of, you know, the Public Health, so many people look forward to pride for various reasons, you know, we have seniors who, you know, this is their time to really be in the committee. So, we really to deliver status a, you know, we will make sure we are keeping the Public Health as the most important thing and figure out other ways that we can still celebrate together. So, you are expecting as many as 1 Million People to join you in the city for pride this weekend. What can we all take advantage of now online . I think the best thing we can take the job is similar to what you said in your last second, right . We are doing 13 hours a virtual programming that you can find on our website. This means even more people, more than 1 Million People are able to participate and view what we have to offer here in San Francisco. So, for that 13 hours we have performances, we still have djs, we still have Panel Discussions the speakers, really we try to do our best to pick up everything that you normally see at city hall and put it into virtual format on our website. Now, there is something happening in real life that is the pink ar, it is being lit tonight. Why was it so important for you and organizers to make something tangible that you can actually see, perhaps when you just you know, poke your head out the window in San Francisco . But you know, we cannot take credit for the pink trying to come the pink tribal has an amazing committee that actually does that this is the 25th anniversary of the Pink Triangle and patrick is working and currently hard to make sure this years 25th anniversary is a dazzling display, so, he did get services of the company that did the life on the bay bridge and they will be letting up the Pink Triangle, i think its an amazing tribute to remind folks we are still even shelterinplace that have pride. Track finally, there is a lot of talk and ask about inclusivity due to the black matters protest. Pride is always about inclusivity, will there be anything different this year . Well, i mean, that a difficult question because inclusivity is something that pride says its part of. But, honestly, the last 50 years, we have seen what is called a whitewashing of the lgbtq and pride will, you know, we have had people say we should cancel pride because do focus on black people. This is really insulting to her after American Community that has not been just an important part of the movement, but, the pride was started by black Trans Movement and black women. Black people have always been part of the lgbtq movement, its just another extension of the black liberation movement, it is always for blackberries this year, whether or not changing or reaffirming and making certain we are doing a better job of uplifting and highlighting are black, clear, and trans voices whether its on our livestream i do have the conversation with black lives matter, our founder both saturday and sunday. We have a conversation between the creator of dear white people and the character on the show will be talking about the nexus of being black and clear in the committee which airs on saturday as well. We make sure we have gotten the best of the best black lgbtq performers to perform the state. You know, folks who honestly have always had an opportunity to be on the pride stage, we are making certain we are giving everybody the opportunity to see the amazing black, clear, and trans folks already and have been doing this work 50 years. Its a joy to talk to this morning. The president of the San Francisco pride, thank you for joining us and happy friday. Thank you so much for having me. Happy pride. Absolutely, if you would like to learn more, you can see the schedule of pride events, we have it for you at ktvu. Com, just click on the web licks. Its incredible to think how pride started 50 years ago look how its grown since then . Yes coming up. The mayor San Francisco said look, the city will emerge from this pandemic. Stronger than ever before. I hate to see the 50th anniversary celebration of pride is being impacted by the pandemic. But taking a little bit of what london breed said. No doubt whenever we see the next pride parade and weekend festival in all of the events surrounding it, pride will be stronger than ever, pride will be stronger and no doubt pride will be stronger. But i think a lot of people who, you know, over the years, maybe people do not cover your to pride but as the mayor said and you said, when it is held again, in a traditional way. I think they have to clear out a big space for the event, people miss it and will get back to it. Its one of the busiest airports on the west coast. The pandemic has changed of the. So, what is it like inside sfo these days . I took a look around. My main goal for summer 2020 is getting out of the house. Whether it is keshia flagger looking at the family in an rv, this morning we are joined by a travel expert with your summer forecast. The morning the first thing i want to ask you about is, a statistic that i was made aware of that only 7 of people out there say they will avoid all travel this summer. That is down. At one point 25 of people said no, im not going anywhere. It seems as if people are becoming a little more optimistic. I think youre right. The demand is now translating into action. Now, the last week is interesting. You know, we have seen certain parts of the country, certain numbers take back up, what i call a delicate dance, right . Want to get out and we are starting to get out, how we get to where we are going, where we go will be different than it was a year ago. But, yes, the summers are now ticking upward more and more, looking especially with some around the corner, with the fourth of july run the corner, the neighbors are just a couple of months ago. So, this could be an expected benefit for driving vacations. It already has been a benefit for rvs and people to do not want to stay at a hotel room. I would say the most robust sector of the industry, it was the rv rental industry 3 of people renting rvs are newbies so they have never done it before thinking hey, you know what . I may say take the same folks at home for three months, we put them in the rv, and i explore our own backyard. Regional travel will really be the name of the game over the summer. At 2 00 hour 3 to 4 hours away. I think california stands to benefit, i think most of us stay in the state but yes, rv relative campsite reservations are way up as well. So, this open space and with a couple hours of home, those destinations extends to benefit right out of the gate. Cruising that something. Other people do not know how to do. They may not quite frankly like the roughing it parts. What is in it for those people . You met my wife apparently. Why are we copilot . A dirt plot with a hotel history. Such a great middle ground, creature comforts in your less tense. Outdoors. Outside. This is an industry for a lot of people, offers Great Potential for the sun rv naging resorts across thand canada and this is an opportunity for the industry to showcase what these resorts are all about. Usually their family and friendly, you know, many acres large, a lot of facilities entertaining options on the ground. They are positioned in destinations where you want to drive if units outside of these resorts, you have the beach or the mountains where you go hiking or cultural destinations as well. Within the state of california, we see the industry grow, camping, glancing back a great way to reconcile concerns. I think industry is trying to embrace a new set of travelers, furnace are doing this for the first time the summer and we are driving that type of travel around. Lets quickly get to some driving in destinations. I know mendocino is about two hours away. Can you tell me about that quickly . Then we can get into paso robles . But you got. You are looking at beautiful mendocino county, just two hours from the bay area, one of those great remote open destinations. Have about two dozen different state and National Forests near mendocino county, 80 miles of coastline, if you want to do some camping, enjoy the of coastline there, beautiful resorts for great b bs, the canvas industry is growing big in ty, if you are the kind of traveler. That industry is growaway from many of the folks who knows right now. Three hours to the south, not only a great cultural region but the winds are getting major play from folks in the bay area and los angeles driving north to el paso, its also a great rv and camping destination as well. In area and a destination a friend of mine stayed at, she was loving the fact. Hotel driven amenities on site that you have great destinations, you think highway 40 six west, here on the water. Camera. San simeon. So, you mention the the have ou bay area. North of Santa Barbara county. Wine region for Santa Barbara, six different towns, little danish haven. Los alamos, built in. Quaint little towns slowly opening up. I think one thing to keep in mind as you start to look at these destinations, you want to go there, the people there want us coming there. An interesting balance between coming into these destinations because we are seeking open spots, also respecting the fact these are places slowly opening up, businesses want us there. Residents are also concerned about the influx. New types of travel, the beauty is a state with so much to offer, the road trippers i think will have plenty to do in the summer season. Great tips. Something a lot of people are going to traveling, thank you for joining us on the zip trip. But see on the road. Of it. Im just listening to that which makes me want to go on vacation. I know it is going to be different. But, just even getting out of the house and going down the street is something of an adventure. But totally. Like i said. We visit my brother and it feels like you know, we are going to washington state. My husband pitched the rv trip and i kind of said, i do not know, im a car camper. I mehdi hike in camper, not a glenn are a lot of people going the rv route, you considered for your family . But i have not considered the rv route. I know people have. My sister, they deducted the rv when they rented it the suburban recently major about colorado. Something park city and made their way to Northern California. I was able to hang out with them. So. I have not heard of the rv. But i made it to lake tahoe later. We do every summer. Looks at we are still good to go at least for now. I think it was really crowded, it makes me think twice. There are a lot of shady heights around, here great pics in county. Even the dog had fun and folks at the Strawberry Canyon fire trail say is a perfect getaway. It was good. Not too many people on the trail. Is really nice outside. I the shade. People Wearing Masks and practice social distancing so, helps. If you really need water to cool off. The about enough of the beaten path and into the day. The social distance hang out together. City kayak in San Francisco is back open and with new protocols for renters. Everything needs to be disaffected, we need social distancing so, everybody is spaced out. It was my first time how we got to run across the bridge. There are benefits to going down. I dont know, a little more intimate. The expense of the bridge i guess. Im glad we caught it at a time where it when it is cool. Its going to be hot. Searching for those cool spots might be more fun than you think.
