You can see that road is blocked off by police cars and then you have the Response Teams that are standing there getting a view of the situation. The last 45 Minutes Police have told people inside to come out with their hands up. We have also seen k9 units surrounding the home in question. I want to show some video we also took earlier this morning. Our photographer out there. Police say group of people broke into a home and thats how all of this started. The family inside that home was assaulted. Some members of the family were able to escape, but others remain inside right now, possibly with two suspects. We do know at least one suspect has also been taken into custody. Again, this is a developing situation. Happening today, pg e will be sentenced by a judge in butte county for 84 counts of Involuntary Manslaughter and other charges for the Companies Role in the deadly camp fire. Allie rasmus is here now to tell us whats going to happen before that sentencing and how pg e will be punished. Good morning. A total of 85 people died in the campfire in butte county in 2018. The punishment pg e will face, a 4 million fine. The maximum fine allowed by law. The children, siblings, family members of the victims of the camp fire ready statement said yesterday about their grief, anger, and suffering caused by pg e. The Company Executives sat and listened to those victim impact statements. As part of a plea deal pg e agreed to accept responsibility for causing the camp fire with faulty equipment that was not properly maintained. I will never know whether it was asphyxiation as the fire sucked the oxygen out of his house, smoke inhalation, or a heart attack from burning to death. Through the court bigger than this, you can call the court, or judgment day. As a corporation, pg e can go to jail for its crimes. Investigators believe that 19 yearold Carla Navarro was driving the White Infiniti suv that lost control and plummeted off the bridge. Her family says perla had just graduated from Golden Gate Community school in rodeo and had planned to study style, child psychology. She was also two months pregnant. Of that county is align with governor newsomes roadmap to recovery. Near salons and tattoo parlors will be reopening tomorrow. Safari west in Sonoma County reopens this weekend. More than 1000 animals from the 400 acre safari park in the hills east of santa rosa. To keep guests safe facemasks are now required. The safari vehicles will now have barriers to separate groups from each other as they explore the grounds. Reporter emerald evans grew up in San Francisco and entered foster care at age 5. She spent her childhood bouncing around the bay area with different families. I had trauma. I had pain. I had abuse. I had neglect. I had all of these things in my life that i had to sort out. Reporter she overcame the odds and is now a fourth year student at sac state university. When the college sent students home she didnt have a family to fall back on. Campuses have been closed. Students have to go home. That doesnt necessarily mean foster youth have a home to go to. Soon evans will be losing her apartment thousands of other foster youth who are now young adults are falling through the cracks we have seen a huge increase in employment for 50 of our young people who are employed have rather been laid off, hours cut. Reporter erica sauers is a director of education and employment at first place for youth. Her Organization Provides services and houses more than 400 foster youth around california. Since the corona virus hit half of the young people they serve have been laid off or furloughed. They have seen dozens of people apply for housing. Many are stuck on wait lists respect for the foster youth they might be losing that access to the school housing, but they are also really losing that access to the income to even rent a room. To even go in with a roommate and get an apartment. Reporter homelessness isnt only issue facing former foster kids. Some have children of their own to care for. Many have Mental Health challenges. Food scarcity is more common for them. Theres a huge crisis right now and a huge gap. Reporter lawmakers have recognized this problem. The governor last month announced a 42 Million Investment into services for foster kids. Some of that will go to kids aging out of the system. Some lemon phil keating is asking some for an additional 4 million to help foster youth ages 18 to 21. We want to keep them on their path to success. Otherwise, if they dont they become permanent parts of are caseload forever. Reporter the state has an anticipated 54 billion budget shortfall. Everyone is bracing for the coming cuts this is smart fiscally and the right thing to do. Its a group that we have to help. Reporter the federal government has a program. The u. S. Department of housing and urban development has 24,000 vouchers to pay for housing for eligible former foster kids at risk for homelessness. When you leave foster care you suddenly realize the world is much bigger than you anticipated and is not as many supporters as you hoped. Reporter Christopher Patterson is a former foster kid. He was tapped by secretary ben carson last year to have the program. This is a way to give them a solid footing. Its a platform to step up for themselves.
