They are also concerned many people may have been exposed to the virus during recent protests. We worry about them. We look at the picture send we see some people with no masks and people who are very close together. Other people that are screaming and, potentially spreading the virus. The goal is to ensure everyone in the high risk categories gets a test. The high risk category include your employees and those people who frequently write transit or a person who has recently been to a large gathering. Many Health Officials worry this morning about the rise in newly confirmed corona virus cases. Also the number of people hospitalized is up, especially in dallas, houston, and san antonio. It is happening just as all 50 states are in the process of reopening. It also follows many big gatherings over the memorial day holiday and during the george floyd protests. Democrats are proposing additional reforms, including banning the use of chokehold by officers, illuminating the use of no knock warrant in drug cases, and ending qualified immunity, which makes it more difficult for officers to be sued for using excessive force. The west Contra Costa Unified School district is ending its contracts with local police agencies. The boards president says the district is moving toward a more supportive and restorative model and that police in schools does not line up with its goals. The school board plans to use the more than 1 million to support africanamerican students instead. More black lives matter protests are expected today around the bay area. Yesterday organizers held a car caravan through downtown danville with about 75 cars. Organizers said this caravan was a responsible way, a positive waye. This event was also geared towards families as a way to support the black lives Matter Movement in a peaceful way. People marched in the downtown area with signs and they gathered in the grass in front of the Danville Library to listen to speakers. The cultural level of racism is also pervasive in our society. Its great that we have signs its great that we are out here. To deal with the institutional and cultural and interpersonal levels we have to do a lot more than that. Police in danville say there were no problems and no arrests. Today is the deadline for the California Legislature to pass a budget, even without an agreement from governor gavin newsom. Under state law lawmakers will only get paid if they pass a budget by midnight tonight. They plan to meet and pass an amended budget later this month. The state is facing an estimated 54 billion deficit brought on by the corona virus pandemic. Lawmakers need to figure out how much money to send to local governments and Public Schools. Another stimulus package remains stalled in the u. S. Senate. The house approved a package that would include another round of stimulus checks and extend federal unemployment benefits. The senate has indicated it will not pass that stimulus plan is proposed. It helps to have its own revised stimulus package approved by the august recess. The federal pandemic assistance unemployment benefit of 600 a week is set to expire by the end of july.
