They believe the man involved two has barricaded himself inside a home for the past several hours with a rifle, they believe he may be suffering from a Mental Health emergency, so police have brought in Mental Health specialists along with hostage negotiators, the mans wife is working with them. They are all talking with this man to try to convince him to take the steps needed to surrender safely. Now, here is some video of the scene, this is happening near 57th and bancroft, the home itself is at 57th and harmon. That is where please tell us this man, at 5 30 am started shooting from the window of a home. He barricaded himself in that home with 2 young children, ages six and eight. We don for sure if those are his children, or other relatives living at the home. Police say the mans wife was able to escape unharmed. Again, she and the Mental Health specialist and negotiators are speaking with him right now. This started at 5 30 am, that is when police say the shot Spotter Technology alerted to gunfire. They saw the man armed with a rifle shooting at the window and police say the man did fire at those officers. Police did not return fire, again, no one has been hurt. I want to make sure our Community Knows that we are concerned with everyones safety, that is our number one priority and we are in communications, we want him to put down the rifle, and we are trying to get a safe surrender. Reporter police wouldnt tell us, maybe they dont perhaps know yet, but we dont know what prompted the man to do this or what his motive was at the latest information we have though is that Police Believe he may be experiencing some Mental Health emergency. Sheriffs officers, tactical officers, are on sees on scene as well. There are several residential streets blocked off to traffic and pedestrians for everyones safety. There are no Evacuations Ordered in the area. For now please are asking other neighbors to stay indoors for everyones safety. To the south bay now where we continue to follow a Police Shooting in san jose. Officers opened fire last night at a deadend road near north eighth street and mission. At this point police are giving not much details. We are speaking with neighbors, and we will bring in alyssa, she tells us what we found out. Reporter a vehicle with windows shot out, was towed from the scene of a Police Shooting in san jose. Along with police motorcycles. The incident happened justtown. Some residents who did not want to go on camera told. Ktvu they heard at least 10 gunshots. Became the call came in around 9 30 am. There was a demonstration outside city hall around that same time which is about a mile and a half from the location. It is not known, if this was connected. Police say the shooting is related to a hit and run. Officers have also been cracking down on people breaking curfew. But san jose will be the first bay area city to end its curfew, it expires tomorrow at 5 am. The city Council Voted to amend the curfew after some residents argued it violated their civil rights. Alyssa, ktvu, fox 2 news. San jose police are looking for a man wanted in connection with the stabbing of 4 people including one who died. It happened before 1 am, inside a 7eleven store on sixth street near the San Jose State University campus. Witnesses say the men were fighting inside the store, three of them were stabbed. One collapsed outside the store, one witness says he see happening. That is what got me out of bed was the screaming. The screaming escalated. I looked and saw what was going on. A kid was laying on the ground bleeding. Reporter Police Say One of the victims died at the hospital. Another has serious injuries. The other victims wounds are not lifethreatening. A group of mostly young people gathering right now in san jose for a protest demanding justice for george floyd. It is a peaceful demonstration that was organized by black lives matter, it started around 10 am, just a couple hours ago on lincoln avenue in the willow glen neighborhood. That protest is set to end at 2 pm this afternoon. Lets show you the scene in denzel right now where another protest is underway. This is happening at the corner of hartz avenue, and railroad avenue, right there in the downtown area. It is the same spot where protesters gathered yesterday, calling for racial justice. We dont support the riots, obviously. We are peaceful protesters. We have faith in our community. That it will turn violent. So far, there have been no reports of violence or looting in the city of danville. In the city of Oakland Police are reporting no press tests problems, officers did not make any arrests or issue citations, authorities announced there are no reports of violence, damage, looting or burglaries. Earlier in the day, the protesters gathered right near city hall and marched to Police Headquarters but again demonstrations in oakland remain peaceful. Solano county is bringing in the National Guard to help stop further damage there. The county says the National Guard will help in preventing listings at businesses around the area. The Solano County Sheriffs Department and police are helping with the effort. City leaders report dozens of calls from people about looters, gunfire, as well as demonstrators throwing rocks at police. A major announcement today from the Trump Administration. Blocking Chinese Airlines from flying to the United States. The Transportation Department said it would suspend passenger flights of 4 Chinese Airlines to and from the United States, starting june 16. Com three people died when a Helicopter Crashed in Solano County. Now the helicopter crew was doing work on pg e powerlines yesterday, between fairfield and vacaville when it hit a power line. Right there near lyon road. The helicopter crew was hired as a contractor for pg e, the crash started a small brush fire which was quickly put out, about 38,000 homes and businesses lost power but that was restored before 9 pm last night. A federal agency now taking action after the Helicopter Crash that killed kobe bryant and eight others, the ntsb has gone directly to 6 Major Companies that make helicopters and asked those companies to install black boxes. They do not have the authority to require that particular equipment. The faa, which can set requirements, did not act on the ntsbs 2013 and 2015 recommendations to require cockpit voice and flight data recorders. The ntsb also making a new request for image recording during flights, it says that equipment would help in its investigations. A car dealership was cleaned out by looters, over the weekend. Reporter thieves broke into the showroom, got the lockbox open and took the car keys hitting alarm buttons to see what key went with which car. I have been an officer for 25 years here, this is the first time i can say that i have been part of the investigation where 70 cars were stolen. Reporter police say they have recovered at least 15 cars including one 150 miles away in kings county. Many have been chopped for parts. As we are getting them back, i have cars with no engine. Reporter that could be because mentally of the stolen vehicles have highperformance engines called hellcats. The covid19 pandemic is delaying the retrial of the warehouse fire defendant, derek. His second trial on Involuntary Manslaughter charges was set to begin in july, but now the judge is pushing that back until october. The trial could be delayed until february. He was released on bail last month due to covid19 concerns at santa rita jail, he is facing retrial on 36 charges of Involuntary Manslaughter, stemming from the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire three and half years ago. Their job is to patrol high risk areas, after recent violent nights. Last night, city officials reported dozens of calls for looting and burglary and rocks and bottles being thrown at police cars. One call led to this chase. The chp says the driver of a u haul left an area where shots were reportedly fired. The driver went the wrong way on i 80, spike strips and a pit maneuver got the car to stop. The night so is a huge contrast from the day. People spend hours on the streets of vallejo in a peaceful and powerful demonstration. Protesters dont want the crimes to take away from their message. Investigators say it appears about 10 people broke into the stir early yesterday morning. The owner says 75 guns worth more than 80,000 were taken and display cases were destroyed. Police and the shop owners say the burglary did not seem to be linked to protest but they believe the thieves have used the demonstrations as a distraction. Approximately 30,000 are on duty, and 31 states. Just a short time ago we learned that some of the active duty troops who were brought into the Nations Capital have been returned, back to their bases, after 2 days of peaceful demonstrations. The departure of the troops comes as defense secretary, mark, told reporters that Current Conditions do not warrant using military forces for Law Enforcement and containing the protests. The involvement of the military is drawing fierce criticism including from some of president trumps closest allies. Military is often used in other countries, to supplement normal policing. We dont want that to happen here. Reporter Officials Say protests around the country last night had far less writing than prior days. More protesters will be here in San Francisco, oakland, and san jose. A black lives matter group organized the demonstration yesterday in fremont, hundreds of people marched to the city stopping in front of the Fremont City Hall and Police Headquarters. Once they were there, demonstrators took a need to protest the killing of george floyd. One of the largest marches in the bay area took place along the great highway in San Francisco. Protesters met by the zoo and walked along the great highway which was already closed to traffic during the covid19 shutdown. A group of mostly young people gathered in san jose right now for a protest amending justice for george floyd, it is a peaceful demonstration organized by black lives matter, it started about 10 am, on lincoln avenue, the protest is set to end at 2 pm. San jose city leaders are inviting the community to join a silent tribute to all the victims and communities of color who have been targeted, stereotyped, and oppressed. The mayor, the vice mayor, along with community and religious leaders will take part in this virtual tribute at 1 pm on social media using hashtag not one more. To nearly 9 minutes tribute represents the length of time george floyd was pinned to the ground, by Minneapolis Police, before he died. A protest is planned in san ramon today, the demonstration against Police Brutality is set to happen at 5 pm, protesters plan to meet at Valley View Park and then marched to city hall. Police say they are working with the organizers and taking measures to help keep the demonstration peaceful. The eastbound lanes from San Ramon Valley will be closed at 4 30 pm as a safety precaution. Center oppose the police say they arrested 75 people, just last night, for looting, for reckless driving, and also for violating the citys curfew. Please say around 5 pm, about 700 people gathered for a protest on the road. Later in the Evening Police say some people in that group blocked intersections, through bottles at officers and rocks at cars parked in neighborhoods. Another group was arrested for breaking windows, and looting businesses in the downtown area. There are five bay area counties with curfew orders, contra costa and solano are from 8 pm to 5 am. San mateo counties, is from 8 30 pm to 5 alameda and san fr established their curfews earlier this week. There is no countywide curfew in the south bay but the cities of san jose and palo alto have their own from 8 30 pm to 5 am. They plan to answer curfew tomorrow morning. San francisco supervisors postponing until tomorrow, whether or not to approve or reject mayor london citywide curfew. Under San Francisco law, the board is up to seven days to approve the mayors order or it will expire which would be this sunday. Some supervisors say they dont want to give the mayor a blank check and they are concerned about First Amendment rights. Now, just as those restaurants were beginning the process of welcoming back customers, they are facing uncertainty and ve a lot of concerns. Yes. We want everybody to safe and we want the businesses to be secure and safe. Reporter lori is the executive director of the Golden Gate Restaurant Association and runs 2 restaurants in San Francisco, roses cafcand tours oh. Both currently close. She says her organization and most restaurants around the city support the demonstrations, and share the frustrations after seeing the video of george floyd dying in Police Custody. But she says the knights of unrest and now the curfew are adding new burdens on already struggling businesses. Restaurant workers are allowed out after the curfew, but many restaurants are simply closing early, the workers arent put at risk coming to or going home from work. It is definitely causing a lot of our members to have to close their operations down several hours early. Reporter she says black and brown on restaurants are feeling the impact as our workers and all of the cities restaurants often people of color and immigrants. Golden gate Restaurant Association is saying the unrest and curfew are adding to the uncertainty about how the coronavirus will impact business, and could delay restaurants looking to reopen their outdoor businesses june 15. I have heard a couple of folks say they will put the plans on hold right now, there is too much uncertainty. So, and also, we are very concerned if there could be an outbreak of covid19.
