Many of them havent done all the spacing that they need to do so there is a lot of work to be done and that is why some folks said it will be anywhere from a week10 days, maybe longer. The us Justice Department once californias phase ii reopening places a quote unfair burden on houses of worship and violate civil rights protections through quote unequal treatment of communities. Simply put the letter says there is no pandemic exception to the u. S. Constitution and its bill of rights. My reaction to this is that the Justice Department likely has a fairly weak constitutional claim. Santa Clara University law professor is an expert in constitutional law and says the warning is more washington politics any serious threat. The various houses of worship can bring their own suit instead of relying on the Justice Department. There is no discrimination amongst religions so it is a much harder claim that the state is in fact somehow discriminating against religious practice and general. There might very well be really good reasons why religious institutions might be on a different opening order. We talked to leaders representing the three most recognized religions who all say preventing the spread of the covid19 coronavirus supersedes attending services at churches, mosques and synagogues. Im not overly concerned that someone is overstepping their boundaries because you are talking about saving lives. This is just another form of waiting on the lord to deliver us. A little breezy out there but a stunning day after some very wet weather over the last few days. So we have a real break today. Yesterday was a break also but there was still some showers east and north but today, clear showers. Mostly sunny. The fog broke up at the coast. Temperatures this week are going to escalate. We will see numbers this week go up into the 90s, maybe mid 90s as we head into sunday. You see it warms up through thursday. Drops a little bit on friday but then it is gone and that is a Holiday Weekend coming up so just know that the weather will be pretty warm. That is the kind of weather you are going to be using air conditioners for. 95, that will get you an air conditioner on. Talked about the air quality. Investigative team has done some reporting on how the air quality around the world is right now and how the air quality in the bay area is. You can see if you go to the top of mount diablo right now, you can see the sierra nevada, you can see all the way up to lassen and on the right time of day, i have actually seen this, if the sun hits mount shasta right and there is no up there, you can see mount shasta for mount diablo. The next few days will be the kind of day that would happen. You cannot see groundlevel ozone. I think is about five degrees warmer in concord, four degrees warmer in fairfield than it was last night. So the trend. It is going to get warmer as we headed to the bay area Holiday Weekends. It was very frustrating and disheartening to see my niece and nephew mainly trying to connect and not being able to pick the family was given hotspots and chrome books and most recently a friend generously gifted them money to get internet from a service provider. That was a very exciting day for everybody in the house because we havent had internet for a long time. In the past, we used to think it was a luxury. It wasnt a priority because we need to pay rent and pay bills. The oakland unified School District is working on the distribution plan. That will likely have a combination of pickups at school sites or the devices will be sent directly to students homes. Giving priority to those most in need. I hope that with the money they got, they make a good investment and make sure that it is good quality hotspot for all the kids to have access. Regardless of what shelter in place looks like in the months and years ahead, Distance Learning is here to stay. The district is still calling on supporters because they say it costs 4 million annually to replace lost or damaged chrome books and oakland isnt alone. A new lockdown order is in place in china for more than 100 Million People tonight after a new outbreak of the coronavirus. This is raising concerns about a second wave of covid19 in that country and joining us now to talk more about this is doctor lee riley. Thank you for being with us tonight. This new outbreak is not spreading like cases and will haunt the government is not taking any chances. Do you think a lot done will be enough to stamp out a possible second wave . This epidemic that they are recognizing is happening in an area where there werent that many cases to begin with. Since the beginning of the epidemic in china, there has been about 127 cases in that province. So they had a sudden upsurge about thirtysomething cases. That is what they were concerned about. This is an epidemic that is beginning to appear in the new region of china. China is a huge country. This is something that one would expect to see so i dont know if you can really say this is a resurgence in an area where there was once a big epidemic. I think we will expect to see similar things happening in the us where there werent that many cases to begin with. Suddenly there is an increased number of cases. We will have to see what is really happening. Certainly they have the lockdowns and that province earlier and then when they relax, they will see these new cases appear. That is something to be a little concerned about. With this new outbreak in china, we are hearing that patients are taking longer to develop symptoms. What do you make of that and what should we learn from that . This is very interesting. We are learning almost every week new types of symptoms that are associated with this virus. That may be indicative of maybe changing two strains of the virus. Maybe the virus is acquiring new permutations. We dont know that. That is a speculation. There has been about three months now since the virus first appeared in china. About five months now. The virus may be undergoing some mutations because these new symptoms that we havent recognized earlier. As more states across the us begin to ease restrictions and more things begin to open up, how closely and how important is it that we watch what happens in china and how they react to this potentially second wave . I think that is very important. Everything we know about this epidemic, we first hear about it in china. So we shouldnt really ignore what is going on in china to anticipate what may also happen in this country. We will continue to follow what happens and hopefully get correct information coming out of china. Doctor lee, we appreciate you being with us tonight. The Coronavirus Crisis has Many Companies and businesses rethinking their cleaning procedures as more more of the country continues to open up. Chris with Stratus Building Solutions talked with our more companies are reaching out about different ways they can protect their employees and customers. What we are doing right here is this is an electrostatic handheld unit. We have the backpack units and what we are doing is we are applying a missed on all the vertical and horizontal surfaces and by the nature of the technology, when it is discharged, it is positively charged and attaching itself to all the surfaces vertical and horizontal and while it is drying, it is disinfecting and after it is dry, it will continue to disinfect any of the services that it has touched. How does this compare to the spray bottle and the cleaning that we see happening all the time. I think the biggest advantage of the Electrostatic Technology is that when we apply it, we are letting it self dry rather than people when they are doing disinfecting, they are spraying it into a cloth or a surface and then wiping it off immediately. So a lot of people arent aware that all disinfectants have a dwell time which means once it is on the surface, it has a context time to allow it to adequately disinfect that surface that it has come in contact with. Before the pandemic began, typical clients and medical centers, day cares and schools, Grocery Stores and other retail establishments are all asking for help. Yosemite National Park to reopen in the coming weeks. The park doesnt have an exact date pin down yet but there is reportedly a plan for reopening early next month. The shuttlebus will likely not run because of crowding concerns and visitors will be encouraged to wear masks. Reopening plans still need approval by the department of the interior before it becomes official. Several other National Parks have reopened recently including yellowstone, grand canyon and joshua tree. Speaking of parks, here we are live camera from sky fox. This is dolores park in San Francisco. A great idea of putting the circles down the grass giving people socially distance. You can see 30 on the park. It is not that warm out there the by this weekend when temperatures get into the mid 90s, not in San Francisco but in length, maybe San Francisco getting into the 70s and maybe even low 80s, the park will be full. If you are headed out to those parks and you are doing or social distancing, i dont know if you read any of the literature on the masks and the preventative component they provide, they are very effective against spreading this thing so think about the social distancing. Wear your mask when youre out and about because it makes a big difference. You may get it and then give it to somebody else or an elderly person. That is really encouraging, the mask signs that has been out there. I have seen some really good stories on the effectiveness. Live camera shots. I cannot get enough of that. Actually commented on it earlier. When you can see so clearly that you can almost see in the windows and kensington across the bay, i know you cannot see the windows but that is a crisp atmosphere. That has a lot to do. It has to do with this wind certainly but it has a lot to do with the air quality, the lack of commute. We have a lot of cars in the bay area. When they dont throw particulates, some of the industry in the bay area slow down, a lot of stuff doesnt go into the atmosphere, it really does a number on it. That is what you are seeing and i challenge it. Go outside wherever you live. Even in San Francisco, look up. You will see things brighter and more vibrant than you have seen in the past and years and months ago. You will also see more stars especially if you are in walnut creek or denville. 52 tonight in fairfield, 48 in santa rosa. A cool night in the north bay but a Beautiful Day tomorrow. Temperatures warming up the next couple of days. It will warm up and then it will cool down. Tomorrow, some 80s back in the forecast. Still wet out there so the fire danger is not really way up in the radar but it is something i hate to even bring that up right now but as we dry out the next few days especially as we get into the memorial day weekend when temperatures soar into the low in mid90s, things will dry up. 82 and any out, slight warming tomorrow. Here is what the five day forecast looks like and you can see the warmup and there is a little bit of a cool down as we get into this. It goes up tomorrow and drops down a little. It goes back up. And then up like that into the Holiday Weekend where we could see some low mid 90s overly nicelooking week ahead. Like i said, just do your social distancing and mask. They have done a heck of a job with it and just read the literature on its. You will be convinced. See you back here at 6 oclock. We will see you then. Thank you.
