In washington with ktvu fox 2 news. One of the key aspects to reopening the canalith erie is expanding covid19 testing. Now, a new test could dramatically expand the number of people that get test and how quickly they get the results back. Lets talk more about the tests and the Division President of the solutions kevin. Thanks for joining us, kevin. Thanks for having me. This is the second test from your company. How is test version number two different from the first one . You said it best right there. Theres really two reasons why were excited about this test. Number one is that volume. Being able to produce a million tests per week drastically increases the capacity much needed across the country. The second thing thats really unique is the second piece of equipment that it runs on. Thats the panther. This is the highly accurate piece of equipment that the piece of equipment and in california theres already 130 of these installed and up and running today. So were excited that not only do we get more tests out but on the machines that are already there and that the labs across the state know how to utilize already. Is the test still that swab that reaches way up your nose to almost the back of your brain as i have heard some people describe it, and then secondly i understand that the tests are processed on the east coast. Does where theyre prosed really matter . Yeah, so for the first question now we have approval from the fda for a general saab. You dont need to go all the way back up to get that one as you said and tickle the back part of the brain. You can just use this on the bottom part of the nasal cavity there. Then its placed inside of a tube much like this. This collection tube goes to the lab, and its simply loaded on the machine you hit start and it goes through the entire system. Everything is done out mat i cannily. Three hours later you get the results back. Now, each piece of equipment can do a thousand Patient Samples a day. You think about that in california with 130 of those already install and then more being installed every single day. Were really increasing the capacity. I know in past days that we heard the governor say that a Million People have been tested for covid19 so far. That effort is ongoing for at least a month and a half. What do you see Going Forward with the coronavirus pandemic as it relates to testing and the affect better testing will have . Yeah, so we have to make sure that the tests are accurate and have a high put. Early on the tests were manual and takes a lot of labor and time do the test. The high put machine like the panther and being able to take the samples and loading them on the machine and to get a thousand results per day, thats going to be important. We need to decide who needs to be quarantine and who is free of the virus and available to get back to work. Thats the postmost important thing that we need to get to. Its more testing and to the patient. Thats why were getting more of the tests to get to the market. Has the company been in talks with the california governor and then the White House Task force. How do you go about getting the tests in to the communities . Yeah, so both. We have within working with the doctor at the task force at the white house, and she has been helping us to direct the patient testing to where its needed most. We also have been working with Gavin Newsoms office in making sure that we increase the supply of the test every single day and where the piece of equipment is located. Its been a Great Partnership. Were based here in san diego, and its been a Great Partnership and working with the state to insure that we get more of the tests out to where theyre needed. All right. Thank you for joining me. I love the i know that youre a nice person, but some of them are sharp. I think some of that is being a southern woman. We can smile and be mean at the same time. I love it. Youre in the car, and the first one was you in your car, and then later on, you know, when the show started to take learned a little bit from the first to now that you have a series . I have learned that you have no idea what is going to be poplar or i dont because when i did the first video, i really thought it was just going to be a few members of my family laughing at me and making fun of me. It went viral. I know nothing. I have learned where the put the cameras and 50 of the time i know to look in the right place. Thats all that i have done so far. Youre a registered nurse. This is one of the reasons why i think that people take a little solace in the humor. If youre saying that this is not serious or this is serious, then they will Pay Attention to you. Today were expecting the cdc to issue a warning about this new disease thats affecting children, so what do you think about that . How kept up on everything thats coming out .
