Reporter scott is an advocate for the homeless community. The violence erupted near a homeless encampment. The night fight was between two homeless individuals. Fighting over something, maybe property or food, even, i heard that. They got into a fight and there was an altercation and there has been a lot of tension on the streets. I have noticed in the last couple of weeks that encampments of unhoused people certainly grown in the area. Reporter this neighbor and homeless advocate believe uncertainty at this time may of contributed to sundays violence. Reporter no officers were injured on sunday. The shooting comes on the heels of another officerinvolved shooting in East San Jose on friday. An officer shot at a suspect who pulled out his gun. The police say the crash happened after midnight at the intersection of express way. A nissan drove through the intersection during a red light hitting a car. The driver of the nissan was booked in jail for vehicular manslaughter and felony dui. It is the 17th fatal collision of 2020. It is a problem we have seen all over. A party on her front lawn and special and practical gifts, she received flowers and candy but also rolls of toilet paper, wipes and paper towels, the family wanted to give her a party at a restaurant but the stay at home orders prevented that this year. Today is my mothers 95th birthday. And, we decided to have a drive by parade for her ng else when she was 90 we gave her a big party. We hope at 100 we can give her another big party. She has lived here for more than 70 years. Her family says she is in good physical and mental health. Four children and 29 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren all amazing reasons to celebrate.
