Reporter s be steve banner worked with her at research. Her linkedin page shows she was there for 27 years. She was a wonderful friend and colleague. She was warm, engaging, friendly. She was a great teammate, both at lam research and even after work. She was one of those people you like to be around. Reporter friends tell ktvu she was a graduate of st. Francis high school in mountain view, a wonderful, caring person. She became sick in late january with flulike symptoms, but seemed to get better. She died while working from home. Her daughter found her, according to the l. A. Times. Dowd reportedly traveled several times overseas and was going to visit china later in the year. This is the first incident of somebody that i knew that has passed away from it. So its, its a real gut punch. Reporter California Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered all counties to review their death records back to december. Medical examiners and contra costa and marin counties told ktvu they have already started the process of checking for deaths with undetermined, or respiratory causes. Experts say the coronavirus can remain in samples for months, or even years. The virus is regularly stable in the freezer for two months. It can be stored for three years and one of the standard phrases and you can still detect the rna. Earlier this month he allegedly broke into some businesses, taking cash and electronics. Chase faces multiple charges of burglary, robbery and grand theft. That means a suspect with most misdemeanors and lowlevel felonies dont have to post bail. Many are being cited and released, instead of going to jail. Law enforcement says career criminals, including burglars, are taking advantage, getting arrested with no real consequence. They absolutely know about the zero bail schedule and if there was a time to do criminal activity, now would be a good time. Reporter Alameda County sheriff sergeant says countywide 27 people have been rearrested during the health emergency. He says repeat offenders are getting a free pass and wasting officers time. You in theory could go steal a car every single day and do the revolving door out of the county jail. Reporter in fremont on wednesday night Jonathan Reyes allegedly ran from a stolen bmw on 880 while the car was still moving. The empty vehicle crashed into the center divide. Police say reyes fought with officers and was subdued and ended up being cited and released your also in fremont, crystal sylvester was freed from jail after a spree of school burglaries. Nine days later he was arrested in connection with a theft of 23 cars from hertz car rental in san jose. He was again released on zero bail. Law enforcement says it all but guarantees a busy summer for cops and criminals alike. A federal judge has blocked a California Law requiring background checks to buy ammunition. The judge today ruled the restrictions violate the right to bear arms and said that even though the law is intended to keep ammo from criminals, it blocked sales to lawabiding buyers. Voters approved telephone is that we approved strict gun laws in 2016. Those restrictions took effect last july. The ruling now abolishes the law, requiring background checks for ammunition. State officials havent said yet whether they will appeal. Pg e is facing a big fine for 2017 gas explosion in San Francisco.
