Multiple communities. This was a very quickly evolving situation and a chaotic scene. It started in a small town late saturday night. Officers arrived at one home and found several bodies inside and outside with no suspect insight. Police darted telling people to stay in their basements and lock their doors and launched a massive manhunt. Along the way authorities discovered multiple homes were set on fire. The search ended 12 hours later with a car chase and the suspects arrest at a gas station just outside of halifax. Police later announced that the gunman died there but did not say how. I can confirm he is deceased. I can also confirm that the matter has now been referred. The suspect disguised himself it would appear to be a police uniform. At one. 30 said he drove a car made to look like a police cruiser. One of the victims include a 23 yearold veteran of the force and mother of two. Another officer was also injured but expected to recover. The impact of this incident will extend from one end of the province to the other. This marks one of the deadliest attacks in the canadian history. My hearts go out to everyone affected what is a terrible situation. Authorities believe the gunman acted alone and targeted his victims at random. Now to our coverage of the coronavirus. Today we learned that the first california prison inmate has died from the coronavirus. The inmate was locked up in San Bernardino county. A second person at the jail in San Francisco has now tested positive for the coronavirus. This as california records more than 31,000 cases and 1151 deaths. For the first time nearly an entire town will be eligible to be tested for the coronavirus and the town is right here in the bay area. Greg ligands is alive with where its happening and how it will be done. This is going to be happening in marin county, specifically in the town of bolinas. This is a privately funded effort to test anyone in town who wants to know if they currently have or recently had covid19. Mesa park is where the testing will take place. Volunteers have erected a temporary drivethrough facility that will operate monday through thursday. First responders and anyone in town 4 and older who has registered will be eligible for free testing. This couple plan to take advantage of that opportunity. It will be good to get some info, and have some Research Data and see where everyone is at. The testing project was spearheaded by Community Residents who wanted to answer the questions many communities want to know. We dont know if there have been a lot of people infected. We dont actually know if we dont have much immunity. We have no idea. We figured if we do everybody, even if its a small town. We will at least get some data on how widely it actually is spreading in the community. Organizers raised or than 300,000 to answer those questions by buying test kits and organizing the logistics to test nearly everyone in town. The first such project in the u. S. They partnered with ucsf and will conduct two tests, one to see if someone is currently infected, the other to know if someone already has had the disease and has antibodies. We are excited to see what the data will tell us. We dont know what we will find, and thats part of the exciting thing, we are in uncharted territory. The 1600 or so residents have been Heating Health advisories and registration for testing equal to the size of the town. In their quest to create townwide testing theyve encountered political and supplychain problems but nothing that could be overcome. They hope their efforts can be a blueprint for others. I hope we can put together a playbook to help other communities figure out how to do this. Test results are expected to be turned around in 48 to 72 hours. Anyone who does test positive will get a professional phone consultation about next steps. Organizers are hoping that the data they collect can be used by Health Agencies across the state to help them with decisionmaking. Greg, thank you. The president s announcement came during this evenings briefing at the white house. There are reports today that contamination at a cdc lab caused delays and coronavirus testing. The New York Times is reporting that two of the three cdc labs in atlanta that created the coronavirus test kits violated their own manufacturing standards. According to the report it resulted in the agency sending out tests that did not work properly. The problems range from researchers entering and exiting the lab without changing their coats, to test ingredients being assembled in the same room where researchers were working on positive coronavirus samples. The wind today was relatively light, temperatures were relatively cool and plenty of cloud cover, and it continues that way. You can see the clouds coming in off the pacific now. This band of moisture, green representing potential light showers and that could impact the coast of santa barbara, big sur, maybe around bodega bay, a slight sprinkle, but not a dealbreaker in any way. But thats it, as it moves over the top of us we will see a few clouds on and off all day tomorrow. Tomorrow, as i said before, about like today in terms of cloud cover, in terms of temperatures. Then tuesday, temperatures start to come back up and as they do we will get back into the 60s, 70s, and then the 80s and mid and upper 80s. In oakland right now you cant see the clouds but you can see the light reflecting back down from the cloud base. Not much traffic out there either. Off the coast its upper 50s and maybe a 60 if you are lucky. And if these keep going, in terms of temperatures things go boom, boom. Tomorrow with mild conditions in the clouds and then tuesday, wednesday thursday and friday, really comes up. Then we will show you the weekend pops in and it cools off just a bit on the weekend, but still pretty nice. So definitely warmer as we go through this week, just transitioning to the warm tomorrow. Tomorrow is cloudy, but the beginning of the warmth. I will see you back here tomorrow. A Union Pacific train derailed this afternoon in emeryville but angrily no one was hurt. Sports is next, how being in a Virtual World is not keeping the raiders general manager from having a load tech approach. Joe fonzi is up next. This is kind of a first. For all of us. But maybe this is a time to put other things. First. Like being the first to check in. Or the first to try you hand at the culinary arts. Or all the arts. Be the first to volunteer. Or the first to say its all going to be okay. And when the day comes, when were no longer looking at our worlds from the inside out. It will be what we did in here that will make us stronger out there. Good evening everyone, here is whats happening tonight in sports. The nfl continues to be the one professional Sports League that is generating legitimate stories despite this time when no games are being played. The league will hold its draft as scheduled beginning thursday albeit without all the fanfare that was originally scheduled for a three day party in las vegas. That would have been a nice way for the raiders to kickoff the arrival in their new hometown, they will still be benefiting for the trains for veteran players they made two years ago. They this time with 12th and 19 overall. The general manager trying to build in the draft, and he is someone who knows about traps having been a draft analyst earlier in his career. This year will be different though. The commissioner will make the announcements from his basement and he will have to look to the past when it comes to draft technology. I kind of left because everyone talks about this virtual draft and how hightech it is. If you could see room, its the ultimate in low tech. Ive got five huge whiteboards, and they probably have 1000 magnets with names on them all over the place, so i kind of feel like im sitting in the middle of a 1976 draft room, and its back to the future. I dont think it necessarily hurts anybody, we are all playing by the same rules. There continues to be hope that golf might be one of the sports that returns to action soon. That would happen initially with no fans. Bruce koepka was primed for the start of this year. He knows all about making pressure shots before big crowds and knows playing on empty golf courses will take some getting used to. It will be weird. We live off the fans, plus, every once in a while we had foul balls and fans help you find it. Guys will lose balls because of that. The energy that the fans bring is what we all live and strive for. You want to have everyone cheering for you. And imagine you sync the pot and no one is clapping. You were just there by yourself. That would certainly be a new normal for all of us. But be healthy everyone, and be safe. Joe, thank you. Have a great night everyone, and we will see you tomorrow. Thank you for joining us, good night. upbeat drum music the world of professional mma is full of characters, from the charismatic to the crazy.
