The shooting happened just after 3 00 this afternoon inside the front doors of a walmart on his berrien boulevard. Here is a live picture from the shopping center. This time, the suspect begins to stagger backward. He drops the bat and then another pop and the man falls to the ground. There were two taser plummets. And one fire shot from a firearm. Reporter police say the initial call was for a robbery, but upon arrival officer determine no robbery was in progress. Video from walmart and officer bodycams will be viewed in the investigation. Police say they dont know why the man was wielding the bat or why he refused to put it down. There is a threat. Reporter police say the officer that fired the fatal shot is a 25 year veteran of law enforcement. He has been put on administrative leave which is normal under these circumstances. We know if the store is still closed or will remain closed at least for tomorrow . Police thought that would take about four or five hours. Of course, it is running longer than expected.
