Residents not affected are being kept in separate rooms with separate care givers. Theyre being grouped together with roommates who both tested positive in one area, and in the other area, roommates that both tested negative. The San FranciscoPolice Department is now issuing citations against people who are violating the shelterin place order. Sanfranciscos police chief says the vast majority of businesses and individuals in San Francisco have been following the sweeping shutdown rules, but a handful of people are learning to follow the order the hard way. If we have to go back, were not going to ask twice. We have had to cite a business in the last 24 hours, and we have cited individuals in the last 24 hours. The citations mark a shift in policy for San Francisco police. Officers initially focused on education instead of enforcement during the early days of the lockdown. We are already seeing hundreds and hundreds of individuals now off the streets and sidewalks and into the noncongregate sites, and ill reinforce that, noncongregate sites. What we want to do is relieve the stress in our shelter system so we can separate individuals and ultimately relieve the impact in the medical care delivery system. If left unaddressed, we allow our most vulnerable residents in the state of california to be exposed to this virus. At the drivethru, on the mobile app, and with delivery. While keeping safe and staying in, we can still go out sort of. So while youre discovering new things to do in the box, well be here for you. At the drivethru, on the mobile app, and with delivery. If youre having trouble sleeping, youre probably not alone. Stress and changes in what we eat can make a difference and we are all dealing with that. We spoke with a sleep expert about what types of foods could help you sleep better and when its best to eat them. Avoid anything heavy right before sleep, because as you digest that, it will affect the quality of sleep. If you eat high sugar products, youll have a crash in the middle of the night and feel lethargic in the morning. You may think, ill try healthy like broccoli and cauliflower. These are cruciferous vegetables and its going to bloat you. Something like a little Peanut Butter or yogurt. Actually melatonin is in cherries and piece attach os. A little bit is a good evening snack. How long before sleep too . People are already like, i cant have coffee after 3 00 or its over. We know some of those things. In a perfect world, avoid eating three hours before bed. But if you need something, fine an hour before bed, have a little something. The other thing is watch for the greasy, spicy and salty foods because they can cause acid reflux and indigestion as well. Those are some goals. And naps should be 20 to 30 minutes. I break that rule all the time. Ill try and do better. If you can try to stick to a similar schedule, close to what you had before the shelterin place, that will also help with the sleep. Journaling is a good one and turning off electronics a couple hours before bedtime can also make sure when you get into bed, you sleep better. Good advice. We are all having trouble with that. Supermarkets and Grocery Stores have become the busiest places in town skew to the shelterinplace order and a number of markets are implementing tougher safety rules in response to the growing number of customers. They are stepping up the enforcement of social distancing and limiting the number of customers that can be inside the store at the same time. Grocery store workers will be at a higher risk than people working from home for obvious reasons, because they come into contact with all kinds of people during their shift. We have a Family Member at risk, so im trying to do everything i can to prevent bringing it home. Any limited contact with the customer is preferred. Health experts stress the risk of being infected from items at the Grocery Store is extremely low, but wash your hands before and after going to the store. Some people take it a step further, washing the bags and everything they buy. Cant be too sure, right . And medical experts say if you dont need it, leave it in the garage for a couple days and leave it out there. Thats safe too. It is a hard change, i think. I did wear a mask that i got from a neighbor, a cloth mask to the store yesterday, and it felt strange. Its going to take a little getting used to for all of us. How are you dealing with this, so many new habits to try and create . Youre right, i feel like im back and forth with the gloves and mask, feel like im walking into a hazmat situation. It seems silly, but with each passing day you hear different things. Before it was like only people that were ill, wear the masks. Now theyre saying everybody wear the mask because you dont know if youre ill. When in doubt, put it on. I got to costco the other day and left it in the car, then i went back. Dont touch your face. Ill go another day without toilet paper. Thats okay. We have rain falling outside the doors and thats a welcome sight because we are well below average this time of year. Getting into april, the chance of rain is deteriorating. This is a nice looking storm with a good amount of rain and snow in the sierra. This is a look at the storm tracker, where the rain is falling over areas of the north bay and picking up on a little light rain over the east bay and south bay. Lets go to the north bay where it started this morning along highway 101. Right over inverness, on and off light rain for the last hour or two. This is a look at 101, light scattered showers from santa rosa through petaluma, and then east we have the rain around sonoma and napa. The north bay locations seeing some of that as we get started here. We have areas over fremont with some light rain, and if you get a little east, dublin, maybe livermore getting some of this as well. The rain will continue to increase. This is a look at the storm, the center of it off the coast there. It will take a southerly track, so one wave moves through today and the next wave moves through tomorrow. This is a look at what we can expect today. By 10 00 or so its widespread over the north bay, moving into the central bay. By noon, 1 00, its all the way into the south bay. For the afternoon, well remain at least with steady rain through about 3 00 before it tapers off to scattered showers for the rest of the day. 9 00a. M. Sunday morning, its fairly widespread. Into the afternoon, another break. For the most part for the weekend, we are talking about steady rain for the first half of the day then on and off shower activity for the evening hours. The futurecast here shows you for our first day, well get to about a half inch of rainfall. By tomorrow night and into early monday, anywhere from an inch to an inch and a half is expected, maybe even 2 inches for the hills. Its a bit of a warm start but still cool and cloudy, 42 in santa rosa, 48 in s an francisco. The afternoon highs today are below average, upper 50s and low 60s, so it feels a little bit like winter out there. Well take it because the sierra is expecting 2 to 3 feet of new snow out of the next couple systems coming our way. Extended forecast shows you temperatures wont change. How you can take part from the comfort of your own home. Good morning, everyone. Not a lot of folks out on the highway. Thats 880 there by the old or coliseum. Good morning, frank. Im always surprised when i see a lot of people on the roads. Im like, where are you going . Where are you going . Its getting to be a common sight no matter what time of day in the bay area, the roads are fairly clear, which is indicative of the crazy world that we are in. It could be a good thing today that the roads are clear because the rain is going to come, making it messy out there. Yes, we do have wet roadways already over parts of the north bay. It started this morning and its now transitioning into the central and south bay. Take a look at where the light scattered showers are falling this hour. In the north bay, we have light rain along highway 1 near inverness. Over in the valleys this morning, san josi and petaluma along highway 116, you have light rain there. Shifting to the east bay, the shore seeing some as well from hercules and into berkeley. Off to the west, its over angel island and treasure island, approaching San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. South bay, light activity near san josi, more widespread from fremont and milpitas into san josi. To the east bay, highway 4 is covered from that transition 680 through highway 4 as well as brentwood. 580, livermore, some widespread rain moving east towards tracy. Into the sierra, its a dry one but that will change with a lot of sierra snow on the way as well and an advisory to talk about coming up. Today we have temperatures in the low 40s to low 50s this morning, only getting into the 60s for the afternoon. Widespread rain expected for the first part of the day, isolated showers for the second half. How much rainfall were expecting coming up in just a few minutes. Thank you. There are more than 3,100 confirmed cases of the coronavirus here in the bay area. Santa clara county is expected to top 1,100 cases today and 38 people there have died. The federal government is recommending people wear some type of protective material to cover their nose and mouth. The cdc says studies show a significant amount of people with covid19 dont show any symptoms, but the virus can still spread between people interacting in close proximity, including coughing sneezing and even talking. The public is being told to save the medical grade masks for First Responders and health care personnel. Use Face Coverings made from breathable materials like a bandanna or scarves and shirts or sheets. San Francisco Police are issuing citations for those who violate the shelterinplace order. Sanfranciscos police chief says the vast majority of businesses and individuals in San Francisco have been following the sweeping rules, but a handful of people are learning to follow the order the hard way. If we have to go back, were not going to ask twice. We have had to cite a business in the last 24 hours, and we have cited individuals in the last 24 hours. These citations mark a shoplift in policy for the San Francisco police. Officers initially focused on education instead of enforcement during the early days of the lockdown. The oftenempty streets have created new opportunities for vandals. This shows a man targeting a Mexican Restaurant in the mission district. He walks by, then for some unknown reason, stops and throws a metal disc through the front window. Fortunately no one was hurt. A nursing home in Contra Costa County is closed to the public as 27 people at the facility tested positive for the coronavirus. The care Center Located near the citys Police Station had everyone at the nursing home now being tested. Some are still waiting for results to come back. So far three of the Staff Members and 24 residents tested positive, and thats more than half the people who live there. Residents who are not infected are being kept in separate rooms with separate care givers. Youre being grouped together with your roommates who both test positive in one area, then in the other area, roommates that both tested negative. Supplies of masks and other protective equipment were delivered to the facility. The staff is also receiving training and being monitored for symptoms. The Health Department is investigating reports of covid 19 cases at other Senior Living facilities in the county but wouldnt name those sites until the investigation is completed. Governor newsom says california is facing a massive testing shortage as well as a backlog. The governor said Health Officials believe there are far more people infected with the virus than the state and county confirmed. Yesterday he focused on cares for homeless who may have been exposed to the virus and could spread it. We are already seeing hundreds and hundreds of individuals now off the streets and sidewalks and into these noncongregate sites. Ill reinforce that, noncongregate sites. What we want to do is relieve the stress in our shelter system so we could separate individuals and ultimately relieve the impact in our medical care system. If left unaddressed, we allow our most vulnerable residents in the state of california to be exposed to the virus. The state now has 7,000 hotel rooms to house Homeless People with fema picking up 75 of the cost. The governor hopes to secure 8,000 more rooms. This morning at Fremont Fire Tactical Training Center onson boulevard, priority goes to Health Care Workers and anyone showing symptoms like a fever. Many patients across the country are in limbo, and that includes couples going through fertility treatments. We spoke with a couple who are in a very uncertain time. We are two and a half years into our journey of trying to conceive. We have done ivf, in vetro fetor fertilization. After six weeks, we miscarried. That was about two weeks ago. I think for us its just like so new right now, and we havent ever felt this before, because the first two times it didnt work. This time there was some hope and we thought we were going to have a baby in november. So now we just are kind of stuck. We havent been able to talk to our doctor yet because everything is on hold. We have one embryo left, and we dont know when well be able to use it. We havent been able to talk to anybody. I spoke with their doctor and they have an appointment to talk with him over the phone. For that older patient with lower ovarian reserve, its month to month in a crisis versus the younger patient. Ill tell you too, that you also have to look at where are they financially. Assume the patient coming through has at least for the moment some kind of insurance coverage. Who knows whats going to happen when this is all over. Will that coverage still be there . Will they lose their coverage . There are so many unknowns we are fighting right now. Its a scary time for the over 7 million couples and patients out there that are waiting and going through treatment. Theyre in limbo. They are in absolute limbo. And he says look, they have offered up all their medical supplies to the medical community, and their resources. They are continuing to do what they can for patients, again, all through telemedicine.
