According to the Labor Department a record 6. 6 Million People filed new claims for Unemployment Benefits last week. Here in california 870,000 people filed firsttime claims. California has twice as many unemployment claims as any other state. The flood of new requests for jobless benefits is now threatening to overwhelm the States Employment offices.
