The concern is whether vapors from a cancercausing chemical, tce, infiltrated the building. It was found in the groundwater, but not in the drinking water. The district has hired hazardous chemical experts to test on saturday. We are hoping to find that we are doing in conjunction with the county and state, that we will find there is no threat in that air. That is what we are hoping. Reporter the district is finding a temporary home, large enough to accommodate 350 students until the safety issues sorted out. Some teachers teach multiple grades. A camp of the ninth graders in one location and the 12th graders in another location. Reporter they did discover traces of tce where Petroleum Tank was removed last fall. The district wants to know if it has gotten into the air. Tce is typically used as an industrial solvent, and is classified as a known carcinogen. The source of the contamination is unclear. According to the California Department of toxic substances website, there are five sites within half a mile of mcclymonds that contains tce, among other chemicals. Fire officials and the conditions have led to a year round fire season in the golden state. Absent of rain in the spring, we do expect to see the fuels drying out early. The trees any time to absorb moisture will not have the opportunity. Reporter Santa Clara County firefighters are asking the residences to create a defensive base around the properties, in anticipation of what could be a longer, drier fire season. Additionally, the Water District says conserving is always a good call. Whether we enter a drought anytime soon, or whether it is far off, in california, we will see one. There is one approaching central and Southern California. It is missing us. Thats why we have high clouds approaching the region now. We are in the 60s and 70s. These are the highs from today. We have another round of warm temperatures for the bay area. Look at the system on the satellite. We do have some green showing up. This is a rain producer for Southern California. We do have a chance of a few sprinkles approaching monterey bay. With a slight chance in the south bay. After a warm afternoon, we have a warm evening. Santa roses at 71 to 73 degrees.
