Take a look at that video this is last night. Robert bennett was taken by ambulance to the hospital and the search ended for him for the night. Bennett was found around 10 30 last night. He had been missing since monday afternoon when he was last seen on Surveillance Video walking toward a trail. The Sheriffs Office says time was of the essence and those two k9s played a big role in finding them. The search and rescue members were assigned to them. I dont know that we would of been able to find him without the k9s. Officials were also pinging bennetts cellphone in the hours he was found. Hes considered an avid outdoorsman. His condition the at the hospital this morning is unknown at this time. We just know he was found alive and now he has family by his side. Ktvu fox 2 news. Time is 5 02. Another search continues in marin today. They left behind phones, wallets and their car the at the rental house and mr. Irwins son is very worried. They wouldnt leave all their stuff, leave their car and just vanish. So, yes, i think its very strange that they wouldnt have been a mile away, two miles away. Its like as if um, its like somebody picked them up and removed them from the area. Now investigators have been checking l couples electronics and financial records for clues as to why or how they may have disappeared. Today, the search will focus on watery areas near the home. 47yearold tim bowders never returned after snow boarding along on monday. Searchers found his body in an area known as heather canyon. This is the second death at the resort in two days. Authorities are trying to identify two people who were found in a burned out car that plunged 300 along big surrender. South of there is the bay bridge that i wanted to mention. We mentioned it earlier. Its a stalled vehicle on the bay bridge, westbound direction. So into the city. Its past Treasure Island. It is slowing things down all the way to the toll plaza. Your drive from the carquinez bridge to the macarthur maze 17 minutes. But take a look at the bay bridge it is slow and youre looking at a 15minute delay to get on to the span. The aids memorial quilt is returning to the bay area. The quilt got its start in the city more than 30 years ago. Here at this nondescript warehouse perhaps the most iconic symbol of the aids crisis is returning home to the bay area, the aids memorial quilt. We lost friends and we made new friends and they died. Aids activist launcheded the quilt in 1987. The quilt has names of the dead stitched together one after another and another and was famously displayed along the National Mall in 1987. This was the first panel of the quilt. There are now 48,000 more. And that was the point of this whole thing was to make sure these people and their lives were remembered. The quilt had been stored in atlanta for the past 20 years until they were able to return it to the bay area this month. About 1900 panels will be laid out in rob Bing Williams meadow in Golden Gate Park on april 3rd through the 5th as part of the parks 150th anniversary celebration. The names of the people on the panel will be read. This will be the largest display weve ever done in San Francisco indoors or out. The aids quilt has come to symbolize the death toll and continues to bring. And also the lack of response by the u. S. Government in the early days. Now police tried to pull over a car just after midnight on city streets but the driver sped away and wen the wrong way on interstate 680. The driver abandoned the car right there on the freeway. Other cars ran into it. One arrest was made. The Police Believe other people were inside that car. A marin county man is being treated for injuries after he went on a hike and was missing for more than 24 hours. K9 search teams found Robert Bennett at 10 30 last night. Now, his condition has not been released but were told he could walk on his own before he was taken to the hospital. Oakland police are still searching for a suspect. Home security video showed the would be robbers walking up to the front door, then moving the camera hoping they wouldnt be seen. The normally peaceful Hiller Highlands neighborhood unnerved by the latest Home Invasion in the bay area. I think its definitely surprising its a general pretty quiet neighborhood. You hear about these things from now and again. Reporter it started with a knock at the door at about 7 30 monday morning. You could see a masked man peaking through the window of a home on grand view drive. Getting no answer, he keeps on knocking and keeps on looking inside. Less than two minutes later he returned with a second man and they noticed the camera and this happens. After moving the camera up and away they smashed the glass panel. Turned the dead bolt lock. That set off the alarm. The woman living in the house went to see whats going on and the men pointed a gun at her. Officers converged on the neighborhood. Some took up post in yards and balconies but the intruders had already taken off. Ben ricadas inlaws live down the street. I think its definitely a problem. Its kind of scary. The Antioch School board held a meeting. Relatives of 16yearold Jonathan Parker say he went to the rival game between deer valley and antioch high school. After the game, there was a fight and parker was killed. There are now demands for increased security at games. I want justice for my nephew. I want Deer Valley High School to make it safe for every child. That no child should have to endure what my nephew did. Families of other deer valley students are demanding security gashdz be on the School Grounds to prevent violence on campus. So far investigators have not released a motive for the shooting and there have been no arrests. Time is 5 35. Last night the Iowa Democratic party released results of its recanvas that showed sanders narrowly trailing Pete Buttigieg. A Sanders Campaign Spokes Person told the associated press, they believe the margin of votes to be slim enough that a recount to change the outcome. Californias primary election is less than two weeks away now. Officials are expecting a record turnout. And in a big change, californias primary will be in march, not june and is one of 14 States Holding primaries on super tuesday. That means registered democrats in california could have a bigger impact on who represents the party in the president ial election. If you have this very large, very diverse state voting for a particular candidate, that could be a source of really important legitimacy for the candidate moving forward. California has seen a jump in registered voters. 81 of eligible voters registered this year. Ability 20 million californians are registered to vote in the coming primary. 5 39. Back over to allie rasmus in for sal on traffic this morning. Straight to the maps we go actually in the fremont area. There is a stalled vehicle on southbound 680 just south of mission. You do see some not quite unusual traffic. We do see this southbound 84 from the Livermore Valley as well. From there, we are looking at heavy traffic on westbound 205 coming in from tracy and thats because of an earlier crash at Mountain House parkway thats still being cleared. Once you get past the altamonte pass, things do clear up there. It is busy at the bay bridge toll plaza. Metering lights are on and youre looking at a 20minute delay to get on the span. A quick check of highway 24 in lafayette shows it is busy as well. 5 40. Heres steve. Well get to it here. The deep south is where all the rain is. The Northern Branch of the jet has kind of calmed down a bit. It is just relentless here for some. Look at texas and atlanta. Theyve had a lot of rain and that looks like its going to continue for the next five or seven days. What about for us . The Southern Branch of that jet goes south of Southern California more towards southern nevada. There is a system on the way. Look at the low clouds beginning to bank up in advance of that system. So the offshore breeze is gone. Unfortunately this low coming in looks like it will do this, it will come in here and do this and go in like that. Which means well be on the Northern Edge of it which means we wont get any rain out of it. If we do, that will be the system. There is some forecast here for san jose. I think theyll take that out. Fresno, i buy into. Would be on friday. Not today, not tomorrow but on friday. Still to the north a little bit of rain. The Northern Branch of the jet stream getting rain. Officers will be moved away from the southern borders to sanctuary cities like San Francisco. The department of Homeland Security is confirming that about 100 additional agents are being deployed to work with immigrations and Customs Enforcement but arent saying where those officers are being sent. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement acting director did indicate additional officers will be sent to sanctuary cities quote, in jurisdictions where we are not allowed to assume aliens in custody from jails. Who have been released into communities. This effort requires a significant amount of additional time and resources. San franciscos sheriff is responding saying hes not aware of any times that the city has turned someone in custody over to federal officials and is saying his office and the Police Department are standing by the policy of not turning over those in custody to federal officials saying its a matter of safety. Our department is not involved in immigration enforcement. We feel thats a federal matter. And our realm of interest is public safety. And you cant really have a Safe Community if Community Members are afraid to come to us to report crimes. San franciscos mayor is saying the city will stand by its immigrant community and sanctuary city policies. Well continue to support our immigrant community and stand up for our city and were putting resources to helping to accomplish that goal. Reports that the officers would be trained tactical officers had some on edge. The dh s releasing a statement in part quote, the cbp agents and officers being detailed to help i. C. E. President trump is getting help from the department of Homeland Security to expanded border wall. The agency is waiving 10 laws including one that leaves open competition for contracts. Back in 2005 he was given the authority to do that. The department has used that authority 21 times mostly waiving Environmental Authority in laws. The move will expedite the construction of 177 miles of fencing in california, arizona, new mexico, and texas. President trump pardoned illinois governor rob bragojevich. This was earlier this morning. Blagojevich arrived home in chicago. He was also accused of trying to sell president obamas senate seat when mr. Obama moved on to the white house. Eleven people were pardoned by President Trump yesterday, including former new York Police Commissioner bernard carric who served three years for tax fraud. President trump also pardoned financier michael fieldman. Several political leaders have criticize z these pardons but President Trump says he believes it was the right thing to do. The president also granted a pardon to the former owner of the San Franciscos 49ers. Ktvus jesse gary reports on the guilty plea more than 20 years ago to an extortion plot. But he never served prison time. Reporter tuesday, President Trump followed through with pardons of subordinates. Former players hail. But when you put it in the broader context of the pat reason of the pardons that trump gives out, its striking. Emphasis say the glaring lack of Diverse Group can cheapen the constitutional power of a president ial pardon. It calls into question whether or not youre just doing favors and you really dont want to have that be part of the mix. Cal train is temporarily suspending Weekend Service into the heart of San Francisco for construction work. The closures at the 4th and king street station and the 22nd street station start this weekend. The San Mateo County Transit District will offer a free shuttle from the bay shore station during the closure.
