Weve got some developing news tonight from Debora Villalon who was at the sheriffs command post. Reporter relatives reported bennett missing when he did not return home last night. Now they are here at the command post keeping an anxious wait inside. About 50 ground searchers are working through the night. It sounds like he was known to hike this area. Robert bennett, 76 from novato, the subject of an intense search by air and ground with volunteers climbing Big Rock Ridge in lucas valley. They are steep, this is what you get, so when you are hiking up its this much pack. Not a surprise since bennett is a familiar sight on the street. He is always hiking up here, two or three times a week. I bumped into him and said hello, how are you doing. Deputies are confident this is where bennett entered the open space because he was caught on at least one Home Security camera. 1 23 monday afternoon and it is on the sidewalk, approaching the trail, wearing jeans and a gray flannel, carrying a backpack. Unnerving for this trail runner who spends hours on the ridge, too. You make you can just sprain an ankle, and then you can walk anymore. The main trail goes about one mile and then splits into steeper paths that top out with views to the ocean. Treacherous, there are some nasty spots, you can get in trouble. I hope they find him. This cyclist spent his ride scanning and shouting for bennett. I was calling out case someone was off the trail, exhausted, and they would be able to reply. Bennett is an avid outdoorsman, and a capable hiker. His family is gathered, waiting. This is search along with a missing couple from inverness, which is still unsolved. We still have boots on the ground, and we are giving it our best effort. In addition to the searchers, out with flashlights, there are five k9 teams in the field, too. They also look through the couples electronics as well as their financial records. Irwins son said the couple would not just disappear. They would not leave all their stuff, leave their car and just vanish. So yes, i think it is very strange. That they would not have been a mile or two miles away, its like somebody picked them up and remove them from the area. The Sheriffs Office says the search effort for the couple will resume tomorrow. The aids memorial quilt is returning to the bay area, and its roots in San Francisco. The quilt was created in the city more than 30 years ago. Reporter here at this nondescript warehouse, not far from the open airport, perhaps the most iconic symbol of the heartbreaking aids crisis, is returning home to the bay area, the aids memorial quilt. We lost our friends, then made new friends and they died, and made new friends again, and they died. This aids activist helped launch the quilt in 1987 as a person a way to depict how aids was devastating the community. The quilt has names of the dead stitched together , one after another after another and was famously displayed in 1987. This was the first panel of the quilt, there are now 48,000 more. The point of this whole thing was to make sure that these people, and their lives will be remembered. The quilt was stored in atlanta for the past 20 years until the National Aids memorial was able to return it to the bay area this month. Now that its back it is said to go on display in big fashion. About 1900 panels will be laid out in Robin Williams meadow from april 3 through the fifth as part of the parks 150th anniversary celebration. The names of the people on the panel will be read. This will be the largest display weve ever done in San Francisco. The quilt has come to symbolize the horrific death toll aids brought, and continues to bring. Also, the lack of response by the u. S. Government in the early days. It preserves the memories, but also and perhaps equally important, it preserves the struggle. And what we had to go through, because these lives were not valued. It is important that our citizens know what it means to be a citizen of the nation, what it means to look after each other and what it means to stand up to injustice. The quilt did that. The quilt now memorializes 105,000 names, and counting. I wanted to show that behind every one of those numbers on the charts were actual human beings with families, loved ones, neighbors, colleagues and coworkers who cared about them and loved them deeply. Might even see some low 70s tomorrow. The current temperatures are on the mild side, and with a pattern like this we usually get a set up for valley fog, and dense fog advisories. And then freezing and frost, but they are not showing up, we are not seeing fog or frost, no rain, we are seeing almost like mid spring weather. As you look out on the city, it looks like theres a little layer of something trying to form over the city. Temperatures overnight, not freezing, and for february, its not often on a clear night that we are not in the low 30s in most bay area cities. But as you can see, no frost, no freeze, no valley fog to contend with. Overnight tonight we will see temperatures in the 40s. We have information tonight, and you know, the deal is that about this time every year for the last several years, you figure the only question mark revolved around where the warriors will seed in the western conference. This time around, with 27 games left, its more like what do you do with the rest of these games, how you keep interest . Well, how about this, the return of steph curry. Right now you can call it imminent. It may be in the next couple of weeks, as we get past the all star break. He is recovering from a broken hand, if you are wondering why hes wearing that red jersey, it means keep your hands off the property, make sure hes okay. As the coach tells us earlier tonight, the future of the warriors is right now. About 24 hours ago we saw brenda dylan with the sharks get very emotional just with the prospect that he might be treated prior to the trading deadline next monday. For the sharks, tonight hes gone from a few tears to probably the realization that hey, im going to one of the top teams in the east and playing with alex ovechkin. Listening to the radio earlier today, the giants station, they were saying that their report out of arizona so far, that that giants camp is very intense and a lot different than the way bruce bochy ran things. A lot of guys were watching video after the practice and it was a whole different vibe down there. One thing that has not changed, that would be Pablo Sandoval in the batting cage. Its about winning the world series with your team and fighting until the very end, the blood, sweat and tears you put into the game. To be that last team standing. To hear that you got cheated out of that opportunity, thats tough to kind of let go. It will be a while before things clear out. Meantime, a little time to check this out. Lets take it to barcelona.
