As we come in closer, we have a flood advisory for portions of redwood city, fremont, san jose, morgan hill. This has been extended until 12 30 this afternoon. This indicating the possibility of minor roadway flooding. These are all the storm reports scattered around the bay. In fact, these are the flood reports around the central portion of the bay. What is interesting, we have snowfall reports in the sent across moutons and towards mt. Hamilton. Chp reporting snowfall. This would be Pretty Amazing if that were verified, 11 inches. That was a report this morning at 11 15. Right now, the radar showing you this. Still some coverage in the north bay but the bulk of the action right now is shifting to the south towards oakland, hayward, and fremont. Really, the focus is in the Santa Cruz Mountains. For much of the morning throughout the bay area, the weather conditions were very different. Right on cue for the morning commute, rain, wind, and even hail swept across the bay area this morning. Drivers had their windshield wipers going and headlights on as pedestrians heard by under umbrellas. Work crews starting preparing for the possibility of flooding in the mission in your word last night. They set up sandbags along an entire block of businesses. There are certain areas that are prone to flooding because of the topographical nature of the city. There are lowlying areas. They are built over creek beds. This is one of those areas. When we see the forecast call for more than inch of rain over 24 hours, we placed flood barriers. Reporter it may seem like an inconvenience for the businesses but the people who work here say hopping over the barrier is better than the alternative. The water goes in and its really bad. Especially around this area. And then, sometimes the water backs up. Thats the worst. Reporter you are glad to have these even though it takes work to get them in . Its not a problem. We can work through it. Reporter the Public Utilities commission is planning a more permanent fix in this neighborhood starting next year. We make sure we have things elevated. Keep things on the lower level of the basement. Reporter it was a soggy soaked commute across the bay with steady rain coming down. Drivers facing very raving conditions. There were sandbags free for the taking or hauling at the Oakland Public Works station. The Water Utility on the side of the bay says it is getting at sewer lines ready for the downpour. They say as many as 500 millions of gallons pour into the facility during storms like this. 10 times the amount that comes in one is not rating. And not just light rain right now but still windy conditions out here at the oakland estuary. Those lanes were close since early this morning since a driver of a Dodge Charger hit another vehicle head on. It killed one and injured two others. Elissa harrington has the story. Reporter behind me is the car that the wrong way driver was in when he collided head on with a mercedes suv. Bert diaz explained they are looking at if drugs or alcohol could have played a part. The Dodge Charger entered southbound highway one traveling in the northbound direction. He collided headon in the number one lane with a mercedes suv. Thats a very low elevation to have that in place. Look at the flood reports from this morning. We are counting 29 from earlier today reported by some of the spotters or chp. As we come closer, still reports of pretty good rain from the valley to marin would to sonoma county. We have some more development approaching San Francisco. We could have more rainfall on the way increases for places like oakland and hayward over the next 30 minutes or hour or so. Widespread rain for mountain view, san jose, gilroy. This links up to snowfall in the mountains. The Santa Cruz Mountains and out towards mt. Hamilton. It will be interesting once the clouds clear out.
