Deputies blocked the entrance to the street. Deputies arrived at the house when it was still dark. They knocked on the door to get inside. The fight over this house started several months ago when a group of moms illegally entered because they said the house was empty and they need a place to live. They criticized the realistic company who owns it for buying up houses in the area. This fight went to court and last week a judge cited with wedgewood the women must leave according to a court order. They did not. This morning they were forced out. This has all been worth it according to one person because it has brought attention to a huge issue in the community. Im emotional right now. I feel like i should be standing with my sisters. The program now expanded citywide. 59 families have called the school home. A report shows that about two thirds of the for families were on their way to permanent housing. Police responded to a report of an overturned car near west leland road just before 5 00 last night. Witnesses say they saw the driver speeding and weaving out of traffic and running red lights. The car plunged into a canal and bystanders rushed into the cold water to help. They were the real heroes. Without their quick actions, their selfless thinking, who knows what the outcome could have been for the woman that was involved in the accident. Police say the driver was showing signs of impairment and she appeared to have blacked out behind the wheel. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment. Parents say was too close for comfort.
