Another is Holding Water on it. Been specific to the area they are focusing on. They used a chainsaw not too long ago. They are continuing to manage the building after the fire started around 2 30 this morning. On november 28, a sign was put out. In order to evacuate the Oakland Fire Department and city officials knew the building was dangerous. They gave People Living inside up to 72 hours to get out. Even though they were monitoring the warehouse for the last month, they did expect people to sneak back in. That is what happened. There are 6 people inside when the fire broke out this morning. One woman was treated for minor burn injuries. Less than a halfmile from the macarthur station. The first and firefighters did was look for people inside. Thankfully, everyone was accounted for. The city and neighbors need the building was not safe. The neighborhood recently held a Community Meeting to talk about it. One neighbor said, it is a tough situation. On one hand, the building is dangerous. On the other, people are struggling to find affordable housing. It is somewhat of a testament to how severe the housing crisis is. I think people who do live in a rapidly gentrifying area do not realize exactly how it affects people. Reporter there was a lot of debris pulled out of the building. The department says, all of the items inside made it harder. This is not the first time the building has caught on fire. His attorney and sister were there when he was released from prison in october. Dna became the first wait we can actually establish that the informants were lying. Reporter people who live here told us a lot of information. You will hear from one of those people in a minute. There are a couple of updates. West street is now open. A lot of fire crews Police Officers have cleared the scene. There are a couple of fire crews out here. We are very close to the building now. Getting a closer look inside. Take a look at everything that is inside the warehouse. We see beds, chairs, tables etc. We have been talking all morning about the debris inside. And made the firefight more difficult. You can get a better look at what they were dealing with. Like you mentioned, we talked to some people who lived inside the building. They have been sitting outside for hours watching firefighters, as they try to save what is left at the warehouse. That is filled with their belongings. They said, they had their own deals with the owner of the building to stay and work here. Despite the building being red tag on november 28, an order to evacuate was issued. The Oakland Fire Department and city officials knew the building was dangerous. They get People Living inside up to 72 hours to get out. Battalion chief said even though they were montreat the warehouse to the last month, they expected people to sneak back in. That is what happened. There were six people inside who ran out when the fire broke out at 2 30 this morning. They told us they had nowhere else to go. One woman was treated for minor burns. Her friend here tells us, she was pregnant and being treated at a hospital. We are on west street. Half a mile from the macarthur workstation. One of the men who lived inside said, he had to help the injured woman out. He explained the terrifying situation. Talking through the smoke, i said, just run toward my voice. You know where the thing is. As he came running out, they immediately said you have to get her. She is not moving. Reporter thankfully, the woman only suffered minor burn injuries. There was a lot of debris pulled out from the warehouse. The Fire Department says, a lot of the items inside the partition walls made the firefight harder. People who lived here said, there were todays levels inside the warehouse. They also said, the owner stored a lot of items inside the building. That in addition to their own belongings, made for cramped and dangerous space. Back out here live, one more look inside the warehouse. This is just one small view of what is inside. You really cannot see past what you are looking at. It is pretty dark. Of course everything is blackened and charred because of the fire. There is a lots of stuff here. Like i mentioned, we are seeing trunks, bookshelves, lamps etc. Because there were people who lived here. We asked people who lived here, the city of fire officials told you to leave. You decided to come back. When you knew you were not allowed to. Why its did you do that . They told us they have nowhere else to go. And this was the situation they were in. They decided to take the risk and move in. Now, they really have nowhere to go. All of their belongings are burned. The place they were living is burned. It is a sad and tough situation all around. The five teenagers were in a sedan when it crashed into a power pole and treat late christmas night. 2 teenagers survived the initial crash were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The chp says there is no evidence of alcohol and officers are investigating the cause of the crash. The vigil will be held this sunday at 5 00 at the Dublin High School quad. People are being asked to bring candles of photos of the three students, to honor their lives. The Highway Patrol says 10 people were killed in traffic crashes throughout california during the maximum enforcement period of 30 hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Officers made 271 arrests for driving under the influence. Officers will be out on the roads next week for new years eve. 4 homeless mothers who took over a vacant house in oakland will be in court for another eviction hearing. Yesterday in court, the attorney for the woman asked the judge for more time to prepare the case. The moms and their kids moved into the home on magnolia street last month. They say, it was vacant for years. And they needed a safe place to stay. Wedgwood, the Real Estate Investment company that purchased the home in july, evicted the families earlier this month.
