People in the city of concord living near one of the biggest parks there are worried about several fires set in the park. There have been at least 12 fires in Newhall Community park in the last two months. Most of the fires started close to home. Antioch police are investigating the Fatal Shooting of a teenage girl. Police received several calls about shots fired in the neighborhood you hear crest and bellflower drive. Shortly after 7 pm. Officers were told two men fired several shots of the car and ran off. There was also a call from someone saying they had been shot and were driving to Kaiser Hospital in antioch the girl was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police in petaluma are looking for a woman who was caught on camera stealing and electric bike from the driveway. Police released the surveillance photo of the suspect pulling a green wagon on king fishkorn at 3 00 saturday afternoon. Officers say in full video she stop, walks up the driveway to the bike and starts loading her things from the wagon into the bikes saddlebags before riding off. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call petaluma police. Three suspects are under arrest in connection with an armored truck robbery in oakland. The Santa Clara County board of supervisors wants to help the homeless who are mentally ill. South bay reporter jesse gary shows us how to make local leaders are urging supervisors to take action. Reporter Santa Clara CountyOfficials Say 11,000 residents are classified as homeless but a less certain number are in need of help that can only come from conservatorship. To make our mentally ill homeless need intensive services. Services that the city cannot provide. Reporter at San Jose City hall and tuesday district can councilman Johnny Khamis and raul peralez from district 3 urge the county board of supervisors to act. Each are giving Mental Health issues have reached crisis proportions. Met mohammed knows the problem personally while helping a friend suffering with bipolar disorder. His family and i had not intervened and gotten him into a longterm Mental Health care facility, he would, quite possibly, be one of the people we see on the streets today. Reporter the councilman are part of a halfdozen elected leaders in the county who penned a letter to board of supervisors asking members of the body to enact la raza law. And allow for conservatorship of the severely mentally challenged who would benefit. Officials say five bay area counties have already done so with a high degree of success. Its an affirmation and we appreciate that. Reporter supervisor cindy chavez says she sympathetic to the request but that la raza law may not be the right vehicle. For many people theyre going to need a permanent placement. But lauras law is is a temporary, its temporary and its for outpatient treatment. Reporter she and the other supervisors passed the measure asking staffers to study the issue and how effective lauras law might be and how the homeless were severely mentally challenged. Supervisors will wait for staff to get back to them with suggestions and possible solutions but one of the first things they agree they need to do is get a handle on exactly how many people are in need of this kind of help. Bart and the San Francisco mta have teamed up to higher urban alchemy elevator attendant at the montgomery street station and the embarcadero station. The program was first introduced last year at the civic center and powell street station. These attendants have basically eliminated unwanted behavior in elevators. And bart will also reveal its first ever platform level. Eight at the montgomery street bart station designed to make it easier for elevator users to pay their fares. And barts new manager continues his rider listening tour today. General manager bob powers will be at the dublin pleasanton bart station this morning at 830 and this afternoon at 3 30 pm he will be at the hayward bart station. Since he became general manager, he has been getting feedback from bart riders in person and through twitter town halls. The bart system is expected to be running normally today after a night of major delays. Bart said a malfunction yesterday afternoon caused the train to run through the two from San Francisco to the east bay with its brakes on. The train was taken back to the city causing delays well into the evening. You can see there were big crowds on the platform at embarcadero and on the train. I could on and mission and 16th and i had to get off because the train was stopping and it was so packed and more people kept coming on and i was smashed into the corner and finally i said im going to get off and wait it out because im not going to sit in there like a sardine. Some riders took two social media sing the horse made their day. Speaking of horses, happening today, horseback riding is back at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Regular horseback riding has not been available at the park since 2001 even though there was a brief Pilot Program in 2017. The new program at chaparral ranch will have a six month trial run. Department officials will review it and consider extending it. The ranch offers trail rides, childrens pony rides. Horse camp and even riding lessons. The ranch will be open wednesdays through sundays between 10 am and 5 pm. Some of the first signs of the Holiday Season appeared today in San Francisco. The outdoor iceskating rink at union square and the embarcadero open today. The san rafael outdoor rink also opens today. Walnut creek and concords outdoor rinks will open on friday with the icebreaker for the rink in san mateo opening on saturday. By the end of the month there will be 13 open air rinks in the bay area along with the eight permanent rinks. It seems a little warm to open the rinks. You have to work extra hard to keep them cold. The School Year Began in august, six students walking to school or hit by cars. The Alameda Unified School district says the injured students were from at least three different schools in the area. School officials are working with the city to deal with these incidents luckily, no one was seriously hurt but the parents say more needs to be done to improve safety.
