Overall loftus leads boudin by 240 votes. This afternoon the Elections Department will release more vote totals as mailin votes come in and accountant. Loftus and her family were chaired by supporters last night as her Campaign Party at the churchill lounge and the triangle neighborhood. Loftus was appointed interim da weeks before the election and that was widely criticized as critics call this cronyism but loftus says she will not cede, be beholden to anyone person but rather to the city she was born and raised in. Todays the deadline for the epa to submit plans for regulating methane gas emissions from landfills. Methane gas is a powerful Greenhouse Gas that has been linked to global warming. California and seven other states follow suit saying the federal government is not carrying out the requirements of the 2016 clean air act. That law requires states to develop plans for restricting methane emissions. The lawsuit says the epa has not acted on any of the plans that have been submitted or developed plans for states that dont have one. Today, hundreds of lyft and uber drivers will protest against the push by Ridesharing Companies to keep making them work as independent contractors. The drivers backed a state law to make them considered as employees, making them eligible for Company Benefits and minimum wages. Uber and lyft along with doordash and postmates recently said they are paying for a Ballot Initiative that would exempt their workers from this new law. The drivers are protesting outside the homes of Company Executives in atherton and beverly hills. Independent truckers continue their statewide protest. They tell us they want to be exempt from Assembly Bill 5. That bill would make it harder for employers to classify workers as independent contractors.
