In novato, voters will elect the city council there in el cirrito and piedmont voters will decide if parish taxes will be extended. Voters will decide if there will be new parcel taxes to hire null firefighters. If they approve it graydon and occidental would get their first paid firefighters. Right now there are volunteer firefighters. A new method of counting ballots in San Francisco will allow everyone to verify the results after todays votes are in. Vote by mail ballots into the citys new voting machine. The Digital Imaging system takes the photograph of each ballot and will tabulate the results tonight. The computers are encrypted and the entire system is disconnected from the internet to reduce the chance for any interference. Once all personal information is removed voters will be able to see the results themselves. The department will actually host all those ballot images on our website so that means the voters will see the votes that were cast in San Francisco. Voters can still cast rank choice ballots using a grid system as the city tries to avoid costly runoff elections. San francisco is getting the most attention for district attorney. People continue to leave behind flower and messages of support for the victims families. They were among 100 people attending what was billed as a Halloween Mansion Party at an airbnb rental. Just before 11 00 is when someone started shooting. The tragedy has sparked a debate in orinda. Airbnbs like the party. The Orinda City Council will discuss a range. The city manager says even an outright ban is an option for the counsel to consider. Theres another side to that is how do you enforce it, and secondly, would the city open itself up to litigation by companies and people who want to have Short Term Rentals. Its like most things. Its not as simple as youd like to think when you first ponder it. Now the city manager says hes also asked orindas police chief to report to the counsel on the investigation of the shooting. Police have not said what the motive may have been. The San Francisco chronicle is reporting that investigators are looking into the possibility the shooting made for a prior shooting that happened in hays valley in San Francisco four years ago. But city leaders and Community Members also have questions about Police Response to the shooting. They were responding to another incident that happened in lafayette 8 30 that light. There were complaints from the neighbors at 9 20 and later at 10 25. Police were able to respond to those noise complaints until 10 28. So the city manager says the police chief tonight will be answering questions about the timeline and the Police Response. The meeting starts at 7 00 tonight here in orinda. The City Council Meeting. Police say a man stabbed and killed and another man outside a maryland popeyes restaurant in a fight over a chicken sandwich. The two men were waiting at a popeyes in washington d. C. Last night while one man accused the other of cutting him in line. Where the 28yearold man was fatally stabbed. The suspect left the scene and is still on the run. Some slowing in morgan hill and then getting up to san jose looks all right. Northbound 101. For the most part the traffic here is moving along very well. In the Silicon Valley we did have a crash reported northbound 101. And that is off to the side but the traffic is going to be a little bit slow in that area. A mother in gillroy now facing murder charges. Police say she confessed to drowning her twoyearold daughter in the bathtub. Reportedly called 911 on sunday and said her daughter was dead. When the Police Arrived at the Vineyards Apartment complex they found a child in the tub. Neighbors say miss mondelongo and her daughter moved in only two months ago. If youre struggling like everybody does in the bay area you take a break and you put the baby in the crib and walk away and you take a breather. Police say they found her walking less than a mile away and said she told an officer she had just killed her daughter. She was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County jail. Shes being held without bail. A 5,000 reward is now being offered in the case of two murder suspects whos caped from the Monterey County jail in salinas. Awaiting trial on murder charges in separate cases. Authorities say the men got out through a plumbing shaft in a jail bathroom. There was apparently a surveillance camera blind spot there and they escaped through a hole less than 2 wide. It goes up the ceiling where the pipes are. The inmates were able to escape through a hatch that led into a Construction Zone where there was no barbedwire. Investigators are now trying to determine if other inmates helped them escape.
