From about 10 down to 5 . So far 94 structures have been destroyed and Officials Say another 80,000 structures are threatened still tonight. Today authorities evacuated another 90,000 people from Sonoma County. That brings the total number of people vac waited evacuated to more than 180,000. You can see the evacuations stretch from healdsburg to santa rosa to the coast. We begin our Live Team Coverage tonight with jana katsuyama. The situation in shiloh near windsor has changed since your last report at 10 00. Reporter just in the past 15 minutes, julie. We were down on shiloh road right at the intersection for all of the evening and now they are moving trucks both in and out of that area. We are right now at old redwood highway and had to pull out because they said we need to evacuate immediately. Let me show you some video that mark hamburg, my photographer, shot a short while ago of the flames that have now crept up towards pleasant avenue. They have cross over and we understand field stone farm has been barned. There was a barn there someone told me they saw had been burning there. We have been hearing pops and i understand listening to some of the cal fire crews there are propane tanks in the area. Some of those pops are coming from tanks that have been hit by the fire and have been exploding. On it has been just another section of a very difficult fire that they have tried to fight as it continues to go on the move. In the dark cal fire crews shifted trucks and firefighters with the shifting winds that pushed the kincade fire farther south towards shiloh. Orange flames glowed in the distance from prevent pleasant avenue where crews were staged. Other flames had heed up chalk hill road toward the winery. There were road blockades at fought road and shiloh road. All day cal fire has been trying to keep the fire east of highway 101, but wind gusts pushed the flames toward evacuated areas. About 11 30 fire broke out in the northeast part of windsor through foothill regional park. We have had our entire kind of northeastern part of our town covered in fire. So thank god we had all the resources from around the state. We had hundreds of firefighters coming at once. So they literally went from door to door and defended every single house. Reporter back here live we understand the fire is now threatening the area by east shiloh road and fought road just west of the shiloh regional park. We saw at least 20 different fire apparatus, fire trucks lined up along shiloh ready to try and keep that fire back, but again the flames we could see from the distance and as i mentioned earlier, that field stone farm it appears is one of the places we could see some of the flames coming. We are going to be here. Theres every so often gusts that come through. Thats something weve seen the fire Personnel Say keep your head on a swivel. We dont know where this fire is going next. I know its kind of hard to tell there at night. Are we talking a lot of homes in the area or do you know . Reporter its hard to tell. Certainly to the east of fought, as i mentioned shiloh park, so that is all like wildland area. Certainly the fire is going through there, but again up shiloh ridge were told there are a number of mansions, if you will, larger homes. We dont know the status of those, but we did see the fire there just burning in the distance where the field stone park is. You can hear theres a fire weve been getting these evacuation orders going on the move and certainly now well be heart to alert to see if theyre now finding this fire is pushing even farther. Thank you. We want to go over some new evacuation orders issued in the last 15 minutes. The Sonoma CountySheriffs Department says if you are in the larkfield wikieup area, Shiloh Community or near mark west you need to leave that area immediately. That was where jana was moments ago and we saw she had to be evacuated from the area and move on because of the flames spreading. Chief meteorologist bill martin here now. Youve been watching the wind all day. How bad is the wind now . Last night we almost hit 100 miles an hour in cases . We did hit 100 miles an hour. Thats crazy. Have you ever seen 100mile an hour winds like this . Its unprecedented to have that fire, the kincade fire, which was huge the last couple of days and on top of this huge fire with very little containment you throe throw a major wind on top of that, its amazing more structures arent lost. I think we all went to bed last night really worried. The winds were blowing 70, 80 miles an hour. A red flag warning stays in effect through monday morning, drops quickly, get a big break and tuesday we get back into it. The wind are not near as strong as last night. Its still a red flag warning, but i would call this a a breck compared break compared to what the firefighters had to deal with yesterday. Monday morning look how quickly the winds die down. Watch the kincade fire. By tomorrow morning big, major break for firefighters. Then theres a wind shift here and theres going to be a real opportunity to get a handle on this fire, at least try to, before the next wind event and red flag warning which is a much lesser event, impacts us tuesday into wednesday. A lot of Power Outages are possible then, but this next red flag warning does not appear to have near the strength as this last one. When we come back, well look at the fiveday forecast with a more specific number. Now the latest on cal fire on expanding their containment area in Sonoma County now that the strongest wind gusts have let up. Reporter the wind that weve been talking about, the winds have started to calm down out here in santa rosa over the past hour or so. We know those winds are still elevated on the fire line. They talked about that at this evenings press briefing. Even though those winds are expected to die down starting tomorrow, fire Officials Say right now the threat of kincade potentially spreading is still strong. Right now the latest observations as of around 6 p. M. This evening is we still have 40mile an hour wind gusts on the fire lines, humidity values remaining critically low, down to 9 and staying in the teens. Those are tough firefighting conditions. Reporter with winds still gusting strong tonight, fire officials warn the threat of kincade spreading has not subsided, but in 24 hours a window of opportunity will open to make some progress. When we have the wind shift tomorrow afternoon, it will greatly aid the firefighting effort, decrease flame lengths and rate of spread and allow us to go after it more aggressively. Reporter even though strong gusts were evident this evening in santa rosa, some in the glenbrook neighborhood, an evacuation zone, remained complacent and are staying put. I want to stay until i see fire across from me, until i really have to go. Reporter even this Shopping Center in the mandatory evacuation zone, a few businesses still operating including this carls jr. Where the drivethru remained open for business. If it gets close, obviously well close. Right now were running short staff because a lot of employees did get evacuated. The few lucky ones are here. I appreciate all their work. Reporter officials acknowledged sunday night some people have a false sense of comfort kincade is too far from santa rosa to be a threat, but Authorities Say one flying ember could quickly change that. I think what we saw today in windsor really put a fine point why we have need to listen to these evacuation warnings. We had fire right up to the backyards of homes. We had homes threatened. We had many people who would have been threatened had that area not been evacuated. Reporter now the Sonoma County sheriff acknowledged a lot of people may not want to leave an evacuation zone because theyre concerned about looting. He told the public they can leave because they have more than 200 officers patrolling the areas to make sure looting doesnt happen. In fact, they tell me just today in the morning there was a a man seen in the larkfield area wandering around looking very suspicious, didnt have any business being there. He was arrested, charged with what they called entering a closed disaster area. Thats the latest from here, back to you. It definitely is a bit of good news in all the bad news, no reports of any looting. Thank you. Joining us on the phone now is Sergeant Spencer crum with the Sonoma CountySheriffs Department. We reported about new evacuations tonight. Whats your biggest concern this evening . Hi, frank. These arent really new evacuations, but were stressing for those who chose to ignore the evacuation warnings, now is time to get out. If you are anywhere near the area where jana was at fought and shiloh, shiloh ridge, anywhere in that area, its imperative that you leave right now. Deputies are saying the fire is making a run both west and south in that area. So we are going door to door with our high low siren trying to notify everybody we can to get out of that area. Sergeant crum, do you anticipate any expanded beyond these evacuations looking at more possibly in the days to come . Cant speak for days to come. As of tonight, theres no other evacuations planned now. That area is the one theyre focused on tonight, which is the fought road and shiloh area. Are people in general evacuating as they should when there are mandatory evacuation orders or are you finding some people are saying no, were going to stay behind and take our chances . If that is the case, what do you do when someone says that . 90 to 95 of the people when we tell them its a mandatory evacuation, they have the memories of 2017 and they heed the warnings and leave. A handful will refuse to leave. At that point we dont arrest them or blow them out of their homes. We let them know youre on your own. We cant come save you. Fires coming your way. Resources will be extremely limited. Weve been hearing so much today about this erratic fire speed. What is the biggest challenge tonight . Weve seen like all the fire crews making a big stand near the community of shiloh and windsor. What is the biggest challenge going into the overnight hours . Right now our biggest challenge on the Law Enforcement side is the looky loos. Theres a lot of publicity on the news now and Everybody Knows this area is kind of a hot spot. So were getting a lot of people driving to the area trying to take a look. What theyre doing is hampering the firefighting efforts, getting in the way, clogging up roads. Right now the sheriffs deputies are dealing with traffic control. What we need to stress is get out of the area and let the firefighters do their jobs and save our community. If youre going over there and getting too close, youre just hurting their efforts. I understand youre keeping an eye out for Traffic Enforcement there, but you have so many people who have been evacuated, 180,000 people, do you have enough officers to keep looting from happening . Weve got officers from 140 agencies around california. At any given shift we have 200 officers on duty patrolling the streets. Anybody found in an evacuation zone with no lawful purpose absolutely will get arrested for entering a closed area. Sergeant spencer crum with some important messages tonight, thanks so much for your time. We appreciate it. You bet. Strong winds and bone dry conditions around the bay area today, coming up the fires that broke out around the east bay and the damage they caused. Also coming up why people without power due to the pg e shutoffs could remain in the dark for several more days. Pg e says 965,000 customers remain without power tonight. That works out to more than 2 Million People in the dark. The utility began shutting off power yesterday to reduce the risk of wildfires. The outage is affecting every portion of the bay area county except San Francisco. The biggest impact is marin county with more than 118,000 affected customers. Napa has the fewest customers with their power shut off of 17,000 customers. Pg e held a News Conference earlier tonight and announced crews willing begin the processing of restoring power tomorrow morning. Unfortunately it may not be in time before the next planned shutoff next week. Tomorrow between 6 and 8 a. M. Will be a key moment when the utility expects to give the all clear for crews beginning to inspect their lines and equipment. Earlier today they said 6,000 workers are on the ground and in the air to inspect their equipment in an effort to turn power back on as quickly as possible, but pg e also is warning it could shut off power a second time this week. Another wind event is in the forecast which could mean a prolonged shutoff period for customers currently out of power now. Pg e says the second planned outage would last tuesday through thursday if it happens and extends to portions of 32 counties. I urge all of you to insure you are prepared for the fact your power may not come back and saying that, please make sure your devices are charged. If you cant do that in a place that has power at a friends or relatives or a community that still has lights, please go to the crcs and charge your devices. Crcs stands for Community Resource centers. Pg e has 60 throughout the shutoff areas. Each center has charging stations and wifi along with hot drinks and food. Pg e executives say they understand the power shutoffs are frustrating and unpopular but underscore the need to shut off power during periods of high winds. The winds were the strongest this weekend since october of 2017 in the north bay fires. All the smoke from the fires up north and in the bay area has prompted a spare the air alert for tomorrow. You can see the haze from our ktvu camera looking in the east bay from San Francisco today. Smoke is expected all over parts of the bay area tomorrow, especially the city, the east bay and north bay. Our chief meteorologist bill martin is here now with the latest on the wind conditions. Bill, its interesting how when you have fires like this as horrible as they are, just the sunsets are spectacular. Yeah. A lot of that smoke blew in today from the lafayette fire which they really got on quick. A lot of that smoke came up oval over alameda, oakland and hayward. Firefighters jumped on it quickly. Just checking. The mountains just outside of healdsburg, kind of some of the peaks there and ive got a gust on one of the peaks to 65, but most of the winds in that fire zone now in the kincade area generally are in the 10 to 15 to 25mile an hour range. So thats good. Its not great, but its a heck of a lot better than it was last night at this time when we were dealing with 50 to 60 mile an hour winds. Firefighters are just doing an amazing job. I cant say it enough. When we get through the next three or four days, its amazing what theyve managed to accomplish thus far and the men and women still have their work cut out for them, not just cal fire, but basically the entire state is coming to our aid as these fires have broken out. Theres the wind field. Look at the colors and what happens tomorrow, how quickly it shrinks. Cal fire will jump on that. By tomorrow morning the winds are almost nothing compared to now. Get a big break throughout the day tomorrow and then tuesday is pretty mellow. By tuesday afternoon, evening it gets going again. Thats the next red flag warning and its really about tuesday night into wednesday morning early. So in that time when the wind dies down, cal fire will be jumping on it, we do see wednesday at 8 a. M. And watch how quick that event ends. It ends very quickly. So its a smaller event. Its not as widespread and well be fine most likely. Its just going to cause problems for we may see some Power Outages. Some areas may not even come on, quite frankly, especially in the north bay wind zone. Theres the fiveday forecast. Let me pop the weekend in, too. Well get a break after we get through tuesday, wednesday. I think well see a break from these wind events. We need it. Thanks.
