El dorado kitchen downtown sonoma is bustling on this monday night, serving california cuisine, but they are bracing for what may be the price of doing business in northern california. There may be another plan for the power outage. The second could potentially re weeks. Lost sales, food, and wages. Tens of thousands of dollars in our head. The hourly employees themselves, you know, they dont need to come in to make their ways. Reporter this time the manager says a rented generator is scheduled to arrive tuesday, but it will only keep the food from spoiling. The exhaust systems in the kitchen have to be operable because of the smoke, the exhaust from cooking. If you cant have those running, it cant be open. Reporter the manager tells me the business learned a lesson during the last outage. It has purchased a new generator. Were on standby generator u here to try to run business as usual. Reporter during the last outage, the markets stayed open, moving all their perishables into the refrigerated trucks, only powering the lights and register. One said she lost power in her home. They were all sold out. I think they could cross your fingers. This is ridiculous and in 2019 and the state of california this is the best way to prevent firefighters. That this is the best they could do, it is shameful. High winds make them necessary to prevent fires. We are really dealing with a new reality here. Power shutoffs are one tool we have to keep the Community Safe and combat this risk. It is not a tool that we want to use. These are three gallon buckets that were trying to get through. Firefighters tell ktvu a small marijuana farm also went up in flames. Crews managed to contain the fire to a remote area and no homes were threatened. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of that fire. Investigators say vaping may be to blame for a fire that threatened dozens of homes. Police tell ktvu news a broken vape pen was discovered where the fire broke out two weeks ago, threatening 140 homes and buildings forcing evacuations.
