In is a large supply of resilience. The store opened for business despite the outage. There is money to be made and we pay a monthly rent if we have lights or not. The power to the shop in the south bay was restored 17 hours later. I understand why they did what they did. It is effecting us. Losing a lot of money. The cost of the city so far in dealing with this Public Safety power shutdown is around half a million. Money was spent on 24 7 staffing, workers in the outage and refueling generators for critical water pumping and fire station. The outage effecting 20,000 pg e accounts in san jose. The mayor says the city will go through a bankruptcy judge if it has to recoup losses from the utility. What is a minor inconvenience for a few hours is a Major Public Health and Public Safety hazardor several days. We critically need to ensure that these power shutdowns do not last more than a few hours. It is disruptive. We have it is not easy. Pe for patients. Reporter the outage effecting the dialysis center. The center lost power. Good thing they had a plan in place, transferring 300 patients to the nearby east ridge for treatment. Earlier tonight, the governor blasted pg e. He said greed led to these outages of the governor talked at the emergency services. The center was activated on tuesday to coordinate the response for the outage. The governor says the state is looking towards solutions for what he called years of neglect by pg e. What happened is unacceptable. It has happened because of neglect. It has happened because of decisions that were deferred, delayed or not made by the largest investor owned utility in the state of california and one of the largest in the nation. The governor said the state will work the whole pg e accountable and assure they take steps to modernize their equipment. This is not the future anyone of us want live in. Our goal over time is to reduce wildfire risk. To shut off power less frequently and to further minimize the impact of shutoffs. Power is being restored to night. Pg e has been inspecting their lines and reenergizing them. Most but not all have electricity. Pg es president and ceo says they made the right call to turn off the power but they acknowledged all of the problems including need for better communication. More than half of the people who lost power have had it restored. 738,000 homes and businesses without power at the peak of the outage.
