No neon lights our movie night at the orinda theater wednesday, that sign saying closed. Pg e killed our sunshine. Across the street at a restaurant, the owner worried his wine wednesday might be forced to wind down with pg e stillwater outages. Im nervous about my business, yes. We have a lot of bills to pay. Rest to frustrations reporter struggling to keep up with pg e black atalissa have already changed twice. You know, no power, how can we run the business . I dont think they thought this one through either, pg e. Reporter orinda and other cities have spent money ungenerous, fuel, and stations for phone chargers and water. We worry about our seniors in the community, fragile individuals who require , for example, electricity to help support Health Support services, and so we have a list that we contacted all those numbers of our community. Reporter many cities have placed portable stop signs at key intersections, warning drivers that traffic lights could go dark when the batteries run out after power is cut. Fire crews are also bracing for the extremely high fire danger. Its going to impact a lot of people, probably 125,000 or more in Placer County alone. Reporter at the dispatch county, Contra Costa CountyFire District spokesperson said they brought in heavy wildland fire engines , a striking, water tenders, and two bulldozers. They both increase the number of dispatchers and ambulances in case the power outage leads to more medical emergencies. The restaurant and albany does business on wednesday night. But its employees were uncertain whether they would be working because of the planned power outage. What are we supposed to do at the business . If i wouldve closed today in preparation of this, i be sitting at home going the weather is beautiful theres nothing wrong. Reporter in the berkeley hills, homeowners going to tree limbs on powerlines on mobile road, quizzing why pg e is cutting down power while neglecting to take care of Hazardous Conditions that could spark a fire. However, it is out there, its an elevation, so let me show you what im talking about. Its getting windy if you are, for example come up on mount st. Helena, where its gusting 52 miles an hour. And even notice the Oakland Hills here, i just saw a rating of 27 Miles Per Hour, so the wind is out there. It is just higher up than you might expect it to be at this hour. We come down to the surface, very different story. We are common most spot the only place that has wood is fairfield where they are gusting 35 Miles Per Hour, so i believe this is so coming away, just coming a little bit later than anticipated, so we take a look at the futurecast. This is for km. Overnight expected to be the time with the highest wind. We have 31 mile per hours napa, so lets take it to an you are waking up tomorrow still very windy as you can see with all these reds and oranges on the map pdc upwards of 30 mileperhour wind gust. Most days they would see just five tdot today they are exiting adding extra support teams. They have not seen an uptick in breakins, but they want to get ahead of it, and i dont know if you can hear that, but it was like a switch was thrown just a few minutes ago without a burst of wind rattling the streets here at the oak moss golf course. You will see if that continues. Back to you, frank. Going back to the accident, debora, im surprised because you would think people would know if the stop lights are out, that you treated as a four way stop. Reporter right, but some of these are like on highway 12, where we are, it is dark. Its after dark, and you are racing along, and theres no light to even remind you that was a traffic light, and there is no sign, no stop sign either. I think some people are just barreling through. I dont know that its necessarily intentional. There might some of this might be impatience, certainly, but i think in some respects its just distraction or just not paying attention. Excellent point there. Debora villalon in Sonoma County tonight. Debora, thank you. Several School District will be closed tomorrow because of the power outage.
