We have 58 in San Francisco. 06 in oakland. San jose at 59. A tad cooler over areas like santa rosa. And a Half Moon Bay up by five degrees or so and it has to do with that cloud cover blanketing the coast. The winds are generally light and you can see very calm at the moment. Ill explain why and give you details coming up. Investigators aring looing for arsonists after six fires broke out. Those fires burned more than 120 acres. The fires are now 40 contained. The fires broke out yesterday afternoon in the hills. Not far from the reservoir. And as ktvu martinez tells us, inceleste gaiters are now looking somewhere for someone they believe intentionally set those fires. Reporter cal fire was one of several emergency agencies participating in san matteos countys disaster prep. 2005 was the last time we were able to get a break and kind of slow down and reset everything and be ready to jump on any fires that came up. Reporter halfway through the event, calfire took off and they came here to a fire burning in the hills east. A huge plume of smoke started right over there. Cory johnson took this video of smoke not far from the county park. He saw air support arrive in less than 15 minutes. Two of the larger planes that dropped a retar dent. Yeah. And a helicopter. Yeah. A lot of equipment responded really quick. It is investigating a total of six fires in the hills as arson. Investigators say he had been dealing with some depression issues. And a man is under arrest in connection to a deadly fight in San Franciscos design district. Police got a call about a fight on kansas and 15th streets about 3 40 yesterday morning. Officers got on the scene and they found a male victim. Authorities arrested the suspect after a brief chase. And this is part of a project to rebuild the entire core system that we were able to do thanks to voters who approved our bond measure. We are replacing all the old cable for new cable. You have a couple of different items for show and tell. Explain to us what you are holding. This is old cable. It is leaking oil, and that is why we voir dire it wrapped in plastic. Obviously you have a cable that is failing here. It is leaking oil. It is not going to carry electricity. We are replacing it with this brand new cable encased in state of the art material. This is what carries 34,500 volts of electricity from our switching stations to awe substation. The substation is where it is converted into a thousand votes. That is a little technical, but the bottom line is this aint going to power the trains. This will. Now, pretty good explanation there. How important is it to get this work done . We want to get it done so we dont inconvenience passengers as much as we can. Other we to need to do this to keep the system running. It is particularly important because in downtown San Francisco, were going to have a new train control system that will allow us to run more trains through the system, and that means more power needs to go to the tracks.
