Peninsula. This afternoon set fundraiser was held at the home of gop supporter Scott Mcneely. Reporter the president s visit was relatively quick. He was at this fundraiser for three hours, the fundraiser was guarded by Law Enforcement and organizers. As President Trump raked in silicon valleys money, some protesters made it clear that he was not welcome. With the heavy Law Enforcement presence, the president left the private driveway of Scott Mcneely on tuesday afternoon. He lives in the wealthy town of portola valley. The president spent more than two hours with republican supporters, some willing to pay up to 100,000 to meet him. Those who couldnt afford the pricey ticket were happy just to see the president s entourage. Its always very exciting, too bad my kids are not here to witness it. Not everyone enjoyed the president s visit come outside the fundraiser testers gathered, some Holding Signs and banners, that expressed their anger. Its not the neighborhood that is just blindly accepting of trump coming in and doing his thing, and not everybody agrees with his policies. This neighborhood is about the wilderness and being outside. Those are things trump is opposed to. Many of the details surrounding the president visit were kept secret. Attendees were not told where the event will take place, only to meet at the parking lot in palo alto where they were settled in. Attendees also had to check in their cell phones. This trump and drove from union city to see the president. This is obviously not trumps most popular region of the country, but for me, i see the opportunity and what his politics stand for. We are living in times where everybody wants everything handed to them. Mike smith says its the first time hes seen a republican president in the neighborhood since the area is traditionally a strong democratic stronghold. President barack obama held a fundraiser on the same street, hosted by Scott Mcneelys neighbor. Theres a lot of money in the area, certainly in silicon valley. They need strong donation support, they will not go to a middle america. For the most part the president s visit remained peaceful, but many Law Enforcement agencies were assisting. Dozens of protesters lined the route along alpine road, they were carrying signs, calling for the president to be impeached. Organizers included members of the activist groups, the backbone campaign, and the raging grannies. I think its important to state your views. I am clearly against drum, im against his lies, there are so many things, the lies, the hate, the refusal to help with guns, the immigration. Demonstrators also flew the trumpet baby balloon, it has flown in protests across the country and around the world. Volunteers with the Nonprofit Group drove up from san diego overnight to bring that balloon here. On Board Air Force one President Trump said the people of San Francisco and los angeles are that up with homelessness and he mentioned the creation of a task force to do something about the issue. This all comes the same day as secretary of housing and urban development, ben carson, was in the bay area. Dr. Carson toured Public Housing building in potrero hill. Reporter secretary carson visited this complex behind me, he met with residents saying he is working to try to resolve the states homeless and housing crisis. Housing and urban Development Secretary arrived at the 72 unit hope sf building which opened its doors in may. Hud provided video of the secretary touring the building and meeting with residents, trying to see how the partnership between us rich housing and the city worked, to redevelop the cypress secretary carson saying there needs to be better cooperation between all levels of government. The city shouldnt be willing to sit down with the state should be willing to sit down with the federal government, as opposed to just think this is what we need, this is what we need. Missouri p screen was not on the official tour but did get to speak to the secretary. Shes hopeful that his visit means a renewed commitment to housing. When i was introduced to him he was saying hed like to come back and listen to the resident voices. I took that as a positive as well. The secretary also responded to governor Gavin Newsoms request for more housing vouchers, saying the city and state need to make sure they are using their vouchers. The secretary saying only 65 have been used. The money goes with being able to come up with ability to work together. The federal government is designed to facilitate, not to solve all the problems. Secretary carsons visit was met with protesters that argue that funding has steadily been stripped from housing, a trend they say has accelerated with the Trump Administration. We know the federal government has not been cooperating, with affordable housing. Secretary carson did not discuss housing, and the mayor said when i learned the secretary was coming to San Francisco i invited him to meet to discuss the decades of federal housing. Live in San Francisco, ktvu fox 2 news. Christian, did dr. Carson offer any sort of reason or explanation as to why he didnt sit down with the mayor at her request . I talked with his staff a little bit, and they said it was simply just a matter of not being able to make those schedules me up. Christien kafton, thank you. Just as President Trump visits calvary, the Environmental Protection agency is set to roll back the states ability to regulate emissions. Groups are invited to epa headquarters in washington for that announcement tomorrow. California won the right to set its own standards, nearly 50 years ago. Under the federal clean air act. The Trump Administration argues that only the federal government can regulate Greenhouse Gas emissions. The Justice Department has also opened an antitrust investigation into a deal between california and four automakers for tougher pollution and mileage requirements. A special night had at fenway park, the giants rookie will take the field and in the audience, his hall of fame grandfather and red sox legend, we will have a life report from boston. And this is not your typical bake sale, the first of its kind event that is put on by top restaurants to benefit planned parenthood. And a Beautiful Day in the bay area, lots of sunshine, temperatures in the comfortable range. Tomorrow we are tracking another system that could bring a few showers. We will have more in the forecast, coming up. A baseball legend and the future of the San Francisco giants, former red sox tar and hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski reunited with his grandson this afternoon. The right fielder, it will making his Major League Debut tonight in fenway park. The giants about to take on the red sox, and that came about to get underway. Joining us live a Sports Reporter from boston 25 and news, and indeed tom, this is a very special night for both gentlemen. It has been an amazing afternoon, he just took the field, leading off the San Francisco giants, he got a nice round of applause, and we will see how the night progresses. Its the First Time Since 1983 that yastrzemski has been announced as a player at fenway park over the pa. Truly a special night. Mike yastrzemski, his past, to get here tonight, laying his First Major League game at fenway park. Much different than his grandfather, he really had to work hard. He spent a lot of time in the farm league. How significant is this night for micah, and to have his grandfather on hand . Micro up here, hes from andover and went to st. Johns prep thomas of this is home for him. He spent many days going to baseball games at fenway park, and to actually suit up in a majorleague uniform and play, in the same exact piece of land that your grandfather played in for more than two decades is incredibly emotional for him, well earned. And that is what carl pointed out when he spoke with reporters, think this was something that he could only equate to in his mind what it felt like during 1967 when the red sox put together that impossible dream and season. Carl yastrzemski is a Baseball Hall of famer, but for him this is an incredible day and incredible night. He doesnt watch many red sox games, he is staying tonight to watch his grandson. Oh you bet, all nine innings and extra if needed. Talk a little bit about the legacy, and also the pressure that Mike Yastrzemski might be feeling tonight. When you think about the pressure that was on carls own shoulders, he had to follow ted williams, and he really carried that torch very admirably, he played for 22 seasons for the red sox, he retired in 1983, and after him was jim rice, so there is quite a legacy of outfielders for the boston red sox. And it is such a different path, and you mentioned it a minute ago, mike had to scratch and claw his way up, he started with the orioles, and that it took him six years to go through the minor leagues, and for him to get the chance it was initially like okay, lets see what youve got, but hes proven that he belongs. And even though it took a little longer than it may have taken his grandfather, he will stick around. I think a lot of people might look at this and they will assume that Mike Yastrzemski, everything he knows about baseball he must have learned from his famous grandfather, right . But actually when you look back at things, his father, mikes father actually taught him a lot about the game. His father passed away when he was 14 years old. What i noticed when looking at mike, i havent spent a lot of time with mike, but wow, you can see some of the genes, you can see the similarities just in their facial characteristics, and even in the manner of which they speak, carl has always had a unique way of speaking, hes obviously an older gentleman, but micah speaks in much the same manner his grandfather does. And the relationship between any grandfather, but when you reference between mike and his father, carl junior, was very special. All right, thank you so much for talking with us, a really big night for both gentlemen in boston. The Golden State Warriors unveiled their new jerseys for the teams first season at San Franciscos chase center. One is called the warriors classic addition, designed to resemble the original jersey the warriors were in the teams first season in San Francisco after moving from philadelphia in 1962. Another jersey has the warriors new bay logo on it, this jersey features seaside cliffs overlooking the water, along with some overhead fog, appropriately enough. The warriors will also have four other jerseys that they will be debuting during the inaugural season at the chase center in San Francisco. Is speaking of a fog, didnt really see much of it today, it was just Crystal Clear out there. At least from where i live in San Francisco. The entire bay area was in the clear, it was one of those nice and comfortable days to be outside. Not too hot, sunshine, and a bit of a breeze, which we typically equate to september and early october. We are still approaching the peak of fire season, and as far as shower changes, we had one system of there yesterday, another one is moving in from the north tomorrow that could produce a few showers, especially up in the north bay. Theyve got all that speckled cloud cover, that is the cold air, relatively cooler air, right now the bay area is completely in the clear. But theres some clouds and green up to the north, Crescent City reporting some scattered rain, and this system will be moving in from the north over the next 12 to 18 hours. Current numbers, very nice, San Francisco 67, concord at 80, san jose 76 and palo alto at 75 degrees. Heres the live camera, just a Beautiful Day looking out towards San Francisco. What has happened over the past couple of days, weve had some systems mix out the fog so the marina layer cant develop. And that late kind of gets broken up, we have a relatively clear pattern and that can lead to nicer weather. Thats what happened here in the bay area for today. Tomorrow morning, we will thicken up the cloud cover, with the chance of scattered showers. This chance will be up in the north bay, but even in San Francisco we could have a few drops. And still some cloud cover in the afternoon, winds picking up around 15 to 25 miles an hour. So heres the forecast model, we are showing you this tonight into tomorrow morning, this is 7 00, notice the best chance of sprinkles or scattered chairs will be up in the north bay, and that chance moves to the south, 10 am tomorrow morning, and then into the afternoon hours. The clouds move out rapidly, so we should have more sunshine by wednesday afternoon. And it looks like another warming tread headed our way, we will have more on the forecast coming up in a little bit. Some workers held a one day strike today saying they will reject kaisers latest contract offer. Mental Health Workers marching in oakland say its the same contract that was offered back in june. This time they say kaiser gave them an ultimatum, accept the offer or lose the 3 raise retroactive to last october. Worker say its not about the money, but giving patients better investor access to Mental Health services. Mental health care is a civil right, and its really time to put it on an equal level with physical healthcare. No one would expect to go to their regular doctor, get a serious diagnosis and then be told the 6 to 8 weeks to start treatment. Kaiser says its contract would keep kaiser therapists the best paid in california. It also says it plans to hire 300 new arabesques, spend 15 million for training, and 700 million to expand and open new Mental Health facilities. Next month, almost 80,000 kaiser workers nationwide are expected to go on strike. On october 14 the walkout is scheduled to last for seven days, it will include california, oregon and washington state. Union leaders say kaiser is committing unfair labor practices, picket lines are expected to go up outside of kaiser hospitals and medical offices. It doesnt just affect us, it affects the community. Gm is playing the cards saying the automaker will not pay Health Benefits should the strike on beyond this month. Healthcare is another area of disagreement. Right now they will have to wait at least two weeks before receiving strike pay of 250 a week. We are not trying to get rich, we are middleclass americans trying to take care of our families. This is the first strike against gm in 12 years, nearly 50,000 members walked off factory floors or set up picket lines on monday. Officials tell fox news that an iranian Cruise Missile and drones were used in that attack on Saudi ArabianOil Facilities in southwest iran. Mike pompeo is headed to saudi arabia for talks. Benjamin hall reports now from jerusalem. Reporter theres been a big escalation in military tensions following a military attack on saudi arabia, targeting that oil infrastructure. President trump says iran is to blame. He also suggested a military response would only happen after conferring with the saudi government. That starts prompting heavy criticism from capitol hill. We should be insisting that the president come to congress for authorization, not the saudi royal family. That seems to be his first interest. The white house says thats not the case, and the president is consulting with regional allies as well as the military, with all options on the table. We want to have conversations with them, but ultimately the president makes those decisions. Meanwhile the saudi government says they can make up for the Oil Production halted because of the attack. They are already allowing employees to return to the damaged facilities. Powers working behind the scenes to lower the threat of an allout military conflict between iran and the u. S. There must be a strategy of deescalation, any action that interferes with this de escalation, is a good initiative. A team of investigators is on the ground. In jerusalem, benjamin hall, fox news. Joining us now is a professor of politics and middle Eastern Studies. We appreciate you coming on stephen, as you look at all the facts, what you think the likelihood is that the u. S. Is headed toward a military conflict with iran . Despite what the administration has said, there is no evidence that they have responsibility, they have this Drone Technology they have been bombing and for many years and this appears to have been an effort to show saudi arabia that there is a humanitarian cause for them. Saudi arabia has six times and was bending over ran. There is no reason the United States has to risk its lives, the lives of its show soldiers, so it seems to me, that there will not be much of a chance of a war. So saudi arabia, does have the military capability to defend itself against iran, if we were to see Something Like that play out, would that in and of itself, some kind of response, put u. S. Troops in that region in harms way . Iran does have the capability of attacking u. S. Bases, given that saudis are heavily armed by the United States. Congress try to cut off aid, but President Trump declared a state of emergency which gave him extraordinary powers to override congress and keep sending arms to the families dictatorship in saudi arabia anyway. So i think the United States could very possibly become a target. Even if saudi arabia launches an attack unilaterally. What sort of action do you imagine congress would take if the president does launch some sort of strike against iran . Legally speaking, the president cant do that unless there is authorization from congress, it would be a constitutional crisis. Even if it was a very limited sort of strike . Unfortunately, when you are dealing with a country like iran, its unlikely that it will be limited. It will not be like the tanker war from back in 1987 and 1988, when the u. S. And iran clashed in the persian gulf. Iran is a much more powerful country now, theres a lot more at stake, a lot more anger at breaking the agreement. Erally i was in iran back in march, i interviewed the foreign minister as well as ordinary people on the street. What really struck me as that ordinary iranian said despite the regime in the country, they would side with their government in case there was a conflict with saudi arabia or the United States. Last thing, what you make of this relationship that President Trump has with saudi arabia . We know hes looked the other way on the military intervention in yemen and the killing of a journalist, how has the relationship with that country changed under the Trump Administration . Both democratic and republican administrations had close ties with the saudi regime. Despite its notorious human rights record and report of extremist groups, its been a controversial issue for quite a few years. But the Trump Administration is taking it to a new level in terms of the closeness of the government support, the cover up of the murder of the Washington Post columnist, and the like. And for the first time we are getting some dissent from the democrats and a few republicans as well. I guess the difference under trump is that it has gotten much closer relationship but also a more controversial relationship. We have to leave the conversation there, that is the professor of politics and middle Eastern Studies at the university of San Francisco, always appreciate your insight, thank you. Uber can now track you if you get into an accident or Something Else goes wrong during your ride, the new safety feature that was just unveiled today. And in weather, beautiful tuesday across the entire bay area, lots of sunshine, but that will be lasting for long, we will soon cloud things up and maybe bring some showers into your wednesday forecast, that of, coming up. Stomach fundamental rights being restored in california, plus tough talks with the public defender. Stomach plus, restarting your career after children, mornings are 2 explores the biggest roadblocks for mothers heading back to work. Liberty mutual customizes your car insurance, so you only pay for what you need. I wish i could shake your hand. Granted. Only pay for what you need. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Uber rolled out a new safety feature to keep closer tabs on all thats wright. Its called ride check, and its made to detect when something unexpected happens during the trip. Joining is now with more on how this works is ryan eldridge, lets talk about this a new feature, tell us when it aims to do. Make uverse ride check is essentially trying to make it a little more safer riders and drivers. Keep in mind, both uber and lyft is there you getting industry just car and getting to where you want to go. And 99. 9 of the time that is what happens, but there have been reports of groping, Sexual Assault, kidnapping, all in these rideshare services, and uber and lyft are very sensitive to this issue, because it will completely destroy their business if nobody wants to take a uber. So they put a feature into the existing app, if theres a slowdown, or sudden stop or deviation from the trip or the route, or they are paused for way too long, uber will send a push notification to the driver as well as the passenger saying hey, is everything okay. If they click that, they get a series of options that they can either call 911, get to a uber their trip with someone else, so they can look at where they are going. They can report a crash. Or they can change their destination. So if they wanted to start at starbucks, they can do that. Is so my question is, if you are in the car, and it is your driver that is assaulting you, and you both get this alert, what would happen then . The driver gets the alert but the passenger does too, now if the drivers phone is off, they are saying there are other safety features on the drivers phone. Im not exactly sure what that means, if there is something in the app that is recording the audio, but there are other features on the drivers phone that will allow them to know if something is going wrong. But if you are completely disabled, and you cant get to your phone, they havent really said what they are going to do. And if that were the case, there can be weird trouble. But it does bring up a good point, and that is if you are involved in a crash, or if the car is stopped for too long, at least someone is keeping tabs on that. As opposed to waiting five, six, maybe 20 minutes. And then finding a something might have gone awry. This is ubers way of trying to stop the stem of lawsuits that are coming at them from california, colorado, massachusetts, texas. Its really rideshare in general, lyft is having the same kind of problems. Earlier this month they were sued by 14 women, and there are 100 other cases cited in that lawsuit for Sexual Assault or groping that happened during may 2015 all the way to may 2016. So essentially when you get into a car with someone who is a stranger, an independent contractor who had a minor background check, there are some issues and safety concerns there. So they are trying to do something to make that a little easier on them riders ended their drivers. It seems as though every week we are talking about either Company Rolling out a new safety feature. It seems that they are taking this seriously. Well, we had absolutely gorgeous weather across the bay area today, we will give you a live look outside, looking toward the golden gate bridge, and San Francisco in the foreground. Beautiful conditions, but mark is here to tell us that we will shift things up once again and bring in the possibility of more rain. Especially north of the golden gate bridge, we will have some scattered showers for your wednesday, adding an interesting mix to our forecast. The sierra can even pick up a little bit of snow tomorrow night into early thursday morning. Now typically in september we are talking about a lot of hurricane activity, and these terms have really been developing. A lot of tropical storms in the pacific, moving into texas right now, theres a tropical depression, and as you see the forecast track of all these storms, we will continue to keep an eye on all these, and they are is humberto, it will be a major hurricane, moving just to the north of bermuda, and that is opening this year in september. We will keep an eye on that over the next day or so. For us here across california we have this, a cold front already producing some rain fall on the northwestern portions of the state. The bay area is in the clear, but some rain showers closer to eureka, arcadia, right around humboldt state, approaching Crescent City as well for this afternoon. Is becoming closer to the bay area, we have temperatures in the 70s, 80s, San Francisco 66, santa rosa 76, and here is our live camera looking toward the citys afternoon. And temperatures in the comfort range. Is that next system coming on board moving in from the north. With that the chance of some scattered showers as we head into tomorrow morning, and they be some snowfall in the sierra up above 8500 feet. Another shower chances, as we come back home, as you can see, it brings in some measurable rainfall, especially up in the north bay. Overnight lows, lots of cloud cover, temperatures in the 50s to the 60s, and these systems developing up to the north, and for tomorrow, definitely more clouds, so i would plan for some showers for the morning commute, especially up in santa rosa, and then we will warm things back up for friday into saturday. We can see the system falling apart, clouds will clear out later in the day on wednesday, and thursday, setting the stage for another warming trend. Major heat a few days ago, but it will actually be fairly pleasant for tomorrow. Looks great by the weekend, 80s two 90 degrees, but no dangerous fire winds are showing up just yet. Up next, the first drug to fight peanut allergies is close to fda approval. Dr. Say its not a cure, but it could still save lives. A family had the door open to enjoy the cool weather when they had a visit from an uninvited guest. A Mountain Lion wandered into their home and made itself comfortable right there in the bathroom. A possible breakthrough in the treatment of severe food allergies, new oral treatment designed to slowly desensitize the patient to peanuts. Kim posey shows us how it works. Threeyearold vivian hinckley has a peanut allergy, she is at National Jewish health in denver for another food allergy test, and she just had a reaction. Hives, her nose was congested itchiness her parents are glad to hear there is hope for a new treatment, if approved, the powder could be mixed into food like this, with the goal of exposing young patients to small amounts of peanut protein. Doctors could increase the dose over time in order to build up a tolerance. To start the patients would have to come to a clinical setting like this, and they administer the treatment every couple of weeks for several months. Then the patient would have to take the maintenance dose at home, every day. This is groundbreaking. A pediatric allergist and National Jewish ran one of the Clinical Trials and says the hope is that this treatment could limit a reaction if the child was accidentally exposed. This is a big deal, but with this caveat that this is not an easy and a simple cure. The therapy isnt going to be for everyone. Some patients experienced side effects like mouth itching and stomach issues, and theres always the possibility of a more serious reaction. But this family says its good to think they could soon have an option. That could be difficult and stressful. If anything they can help alleviate that problem, even if its not a cure, its still positive. A lot of people are hopeful for that.
