As a category three storm, dorian is expected to move near the coast of South Carolina and towards North Carolina tonight and into friday in the weekend. Federal emergency declarationings have been approved for florida, georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Less than an hour ago, give jenkins recorded this update for us from foley beach in South Carolina. The winds are really picking up on the Barrier Islands of South Carolina. The highest wind recorded so far is 68 Miles Per Hour in carlson international airport. But here, on foley beach it seems like it might be a little bit stronger. We are in the parking lot of a fishing pier where two years ago, erosion. Three years ago, a real beating. It is a combination today of these high winds of Hurricane Force strength winds even though we are 80 miles from the center of the eye. The winds are strong here mixed with a surge expected to be five to eight feet and rainfall from six to 12 inches of rainfall. We see water running down this street here. It has been evacuated. We havent seen anybody around here. We havent seen Law Enforcement patrolling here. And the power going in and out. It is going to be a long day, but it is high tide and everyone batching. A little bit later this afternoon when that storm surge really is going to determine how strong it is and everybody here hoping that this storm will come close, pass, and move on and leave them alone here. Now to the deadly boat fire off the Santa Barbara coast this morning. Search crews are returning to look for the body of the 34th and final victim. The other has been recovered. Now, the ntsb says it could take up to two years to figure out what caused that fire. Investigators will release a preliminary report without mentioning a cause. Authorities have interviewed the five surviving members of the crew. Who else tested negative for alcohol. Results of drug tests are pending. Ktvu has more information about the people who are onboard and their ties to the bay area. I met with the families of the loved ones that were lost in this incident. For two hours. It was important that we provided them with the information that they need, that they get an opportunity to ask all the questions they need to ask. The captain of the nearby boat that rescued the five survivors spoke about that night. They told my wife that they had several birthday celebrations onboard. One of them happened to have been a 17yearold young lady and her parents. They were onboard. We didnt hear anything other than there was no screaming or anything like that. There was no yelling. All you could hear is the fire itself. Among those lost were employees from am, dan garcia and steve solika who had been onboard with his wife, diana and their daughter, tia, the one who was celebrating her 17th birthday. Her friend, 16yearold had come along and was also killed in the fire. A family friend, margo peyton pictured here with diana on the right says shes known the family since tia was six years old. They were just a wonderful giving kind, generous family that just enjoyed traveling. I am sure they were really looking to celebrate her 17th birthday. And i am sure knowing tia that there was nothing else she wanted to do but go scuba diving because that is what she really loved. Reporter apple released this statement saying, quote, steve was a 30yearold apple veteran whose energy and enthusiasm touched so many people across our ken throughout his career. He met his wife at apple and was her and her daughter. Dan was as passionate about his job at apple as he was about his love of diving. Both love many friends blind and will be deeply missed. Another victim, lisa feeler, loves photography and also worked as a hairstylist at the salon in mill valley. And San Franciscobased company brillance is also grieving for two employees lost in the fire. The statement says carrie and christian were incredible friends and colleagues who brought leadership and warming and they will be missed dearly. And about 65 miles southwest of palm have sprungs. It started yesterday afternoon and burned nearly a thousand acres in the first few hours alone. It does remain out of control at this hour. Several neighborhoods have been evacuated because of the thick injuries. The cause of that fire is still under investigation. A grass fire south of holster destroyed five sheds and barns. The flames spread to nearby grass and quickly burned across 17 acres. Nobody is injured in this fire. Investigators are locking into how that fear got started as well. And a gunman opened fire on deputies injuring a sergeant. A blue alert has been issued for the suspect. 51yearold guadelupe ambushed deputies at 3 30 yesterday afternoon. It happened as they were following up at a Domestic Violence case at a home. Sheriff deputies say the suspect began shooting at them from the bushes. The deputies returned fire and the gunman got away. The sergeant that was shot is not badly injured and should are cover. Turner was a stanford swimmer accused and convicted the following year of three counts of Sexual Assault. The judge sentenced her to six moos in jail which touched off a firestorm of protests and ultimately lead to the judges recall.
