Officials say the storm destroyed nearly half of all of the homes in the bahamas. Hurricane dorian was stalled ovfor nearly two days heaving roads covered in mud, water and debris. The airports are flooded. Its hard to look at that. It really is. Its some of those are too rielgt . Yeah ive seen some of the aerials and yes, it has. Youre talking 185 Miles Per Hour winds for 24 hours for some there so no wonder were seeing catastrophic images. The system is finally moving northwest today so at least its not stationary or creeping and crawling around at 105 Miles Per Hour. Just off Daytona Beach the focus will be more towards. April and South Carolina, Cape Hatteras and maybe the outer banks as it begins to weaken. It should accelerate in 24 hours as it starts to get picked up by a system to the north still feeding off warm water at 85 to 86 degrees so it may intensify a little bit there as it goes over the bahamas the water level there was like six to ten feet so there wasnt much until it got out to sea but it is beginning to make a mo vthe out atlantic side of florida. Happening today a german man accused of flying to the east bay in order to sexually abuse a teenage girl is due in court. Police say the 31yearold abused a 14yearold from brent wood. He was arrested after he engaged in Sexual Conduct with a teenager at a hotel who had been talking online for almost a year. If he is convicted he faces up to 30 years behind bars. A preliminary hearing set this morning for the santa rosa doctor accused of killing patients with opiate prescriptions. Hes charged with Second Degree murder for the death of four patients. Prosecutors say he wrote prescriptions for hundreds of pain killers without a legitimate medical purpose and pleaded not guilty last month and claims the four deaths were suicide ci and police chase in San Francisco officers from the trga at eddy and lagu when they spotted a vehicle wanted in connection with a homicide on august 8. They tried to stop the drive but he sped off and crashed into a flat bed truck in the city. His name has not been released. Hes expected to recover from his injuries and face a number of charges. Principal anita summerland showed us one of seven classrooms where windows were broken but since thieves entere and got their hands on locked storage boxes they pried open to steal 68 croak book laptops. The look on the students faces was of devastation. They take pride in their computers. They take pride in the technology of the school and they were totally devastated. Thieves dropped this particular laptop and left it in the school yard. The devices have distinct markings of the district and are used for statewide tests as well as lessons in reading, writing and math. Our students here really depend on these chrome books in their education. This is the 21st century. Not having those materials really sets these kids back. In january the same school was robbed of 40 kindle ereaders. What happened here in mark ham is not an isolated incident. In fact this calendar year alone theyve had thousands of dollars worth of equipment stolen and have spent thousands more on repairs at other locations. Just this school year weve had a couple of break ins at skyland high school in the hills. We had a break in at massive Heart Academy in east oakland. The issue with this island is theres one causeway, the torres causeway and that is the only way on and the only way off the island so when conditions get bad enough the causeway will close down and for the folks who dont evacuate they are stuck here on the island. However many of the folks here that we talk to say they dont want to evacuate because when the causeway shuts down theyre not able to get back to their homes some cases for days and theyre not willing to leave their homes for that long. The site of the gill roy mass shooting open to the public once again a small ceremony held at Christmas Hill park yesterday for the reopening which included a moment of silence. Temporary memorial now stands inside the park to honor the three People Killed and 17 others wounded in that july shooting.
