Any juror would be needing to sort of stress their memories a little bit, and see how far back can they remember with these first witnesses said. It would break my heart if my client is convicted. He is not a bad person. When you think about it, how many people can take five months off to sit through a trial of this length, it really is quite remarkable, and really very inspiring, as an example of how the judicial system can be quite noble. The reconstituted jury made up of seven women and five men will return for more talks tomorrow, wednesday. There are some scheduling conflicts among jurors after this week, but to this point, there is no indication if the judge will allow the jurors to take more time off. It is pretty remarkable, when you think, giving up of five months to be on the jury. Not to mention, you have to think about, ailed notes and rec all of these different witnesses that have been there. And try to come up with one concise verdict. Not to mention its been extremely emotional, so the toll its taking on everyone. On wall street, the markets dropped over concerns about new tariffs on chinese goods that went into effect on sunday. And because of the declining u. S. Manufacturing. Investigators, excusing, investors began the trading day with a moment of silence, paying their respects to the victims of the weekend a shooting in west texas. This weekend, the Trump Administration follow through on its threat to impose 15 tariffs on 100 billion worth of chinese imports. And that rattled the markets. I do think it is a concern with regard to demand and the rift between washington and beijing with regard to trade. The new tariffs affect a wide range of imports from china including electronics and issues. Both the United States and china say they are planning to resume trade negotiations later this month. So here are the final numbers from wall street, the dow was down 285 points, which is just over 1 , the nasdaq lost 88, and the s p 500 was down 20. The tariffs, some sour Economic Indicators and the markets are raising talk of a possible recession. Our reporter spent lkg about th likelihood of a sellout. There are many recession red flags we are waiving right now, what will the u. S. Economy currently lower them . Adding two other declining Economic Indicators, the trade work ratcheted up, with higher tariffs, and china. Also released today for the first time in three years, u. S. Manufacturing declined for the month of august. Crude oil unexpectedly dropped. Freight shipments are down 5 . Copper prices, major indicator of future construction, down 13 . And gross domestic product, the overall output of the u. S. Economy, suffered its second worst quarter in the last two and half years. Many foreign economies are in or heading for recession. Gold, considered a hedge against the declining economy, is up a whopping 20 . So we asked uc berkeley economist jim wilcox if a recession is brewing. So far we havent seen any problems developed that are likely to leave the u. S. Into a recession, very soon. And even if we did, certainly we dont see the seeds of a very serious recession, certainly not like the one that we live through a decade ago. The former dean of the Golden Gate University school of business and a former wall Street Investment banker were still tagging along in a nonrecession environment. Cutting Interest Rates with Lower Borrowing rates which stimulates the economy. The Federal Reserve stands ready as weve already seen. And they will try to whom the economy should slow down enough. One thing will sharply reduce the chances of a recession. Come to some sensible resolution of trade relations between the United States and its trading partners, and also, to have a resolution of the brexit situation. That would take some sort of real truths at the least. As long as consumers and businesses dont get to rattled, the odds of a recession remain very low. But the trade work and do a lot of damage. How dangerous is this tariff situation . Its deadly dangerous, and the reason for that is this. Not only is it currently a problem for lets say farmers, many of whom are going bankrupt, the real trouble is down the road you lose markets, which is to say you are soybeans will no longer be wanted by lets say the chinese, because the brazilians are argentinians are supplying them. Once you lose a market, you talk to experts and they say its very tough to get it back. The other thing that can happen is some of those other countries that you might find new markets and might simply take that same amount of stuff you sold them for one price and sell it off to china for another price, and that can cause all kinds of other problems. At this thing could cost millions of jobs if it goes far enough, and of course we are nowhere close to that right now. But the chinese take the long view of this thing, we take a much shorter view, and that means time is on the chinese side. Tom, thank you. Again, those cumulus clouds may enter into our forecast, lets go right to them, over to the lake tahoe area, thats what we were looking at off in the distance. Amazing that you can see that far, but you are seeing those cumulus cloud buildups, and theres a slight chance that some of the stuff will wrap around tomorrow. How far will it get . It will probably end up in those far inland south bay areas, so the fringe of the bay area. But still a possibility emma when you get that much monsoonal tropical moisture, that the flow is such that it can come back across the valley. You also see the breeze in the bush right there, that represents a seabreeze that is in response to that low right there. Its a good low Pressure Center sitting offshore, and that will set us up with a milder pattern, which is fine with me. There is a slight chance of a thunder shower as the moisture works its way up, but with this low lingering around, stretching out the marine layer, we a couple of low 90s.
