Happening today, the first ever fire drill evacuation in Sonoma County, people are living in the cape dale trinity community, get a a chance to practice wildfire preparedness. Were at the center in sonoma, city and county officials are here setting up fortunately the evacuation drill that will start in less than 30 minutes. The people in this Community Know what it is to evacuate. They did in 2017. They were hit by the nun fire. Theyll go through the drill to get them ready for the next firement the main way in and out is cavedale road. Theres dry brush all around. If theres another fire here, road will be hard to navigate. Theres a spiderweb of roads, and some are one lane. Thats why we want everyone to have a chance to practice this when everybody will be doing the same thing at the same time. Sonoma county officials fire and Law Enforcement agencies are getting together to make this drill happen. Those who are participating signed up to get an alert when the drill starts. They practiced evacuating their homes and drive through the evacuation routes. Theyll get to sonoma and red cross will answer any questions they have. It starts at 8 00 this morning and wraps up at about 10 00. Were getting more information about an incident that led to a fatal crash in hayward, that was fight between the man and another person who spilled on to the street and into the path of that car. Police the driver remained at the scene and was cooperative. Investigators declined to release details about what happened. I learned a lot, i learned how to do cpr and basic fire and medical responding and everything, and it helped me a lot to be a better person, and made me learn what i want to do in life and my career. The academy is named after a fireman who gave his life in the line of duty. Its easy it see the positive impact and transformation in their students. When we see our student cadettes go from lower grade point averages to higher ones, we see them embracing Community Service where theyre teaching children, Elementary School children how to be safe from their home. Happening now, the first ever Fire Evacuation drill in Sonoma County is underway. It is an area devastated by the 2017 north bay fires. They are getting a chance to prepare for another fire. We are live in sonoma this morning with more on this. This has got to be good practice. At least giving people some comfort that they will be more prepared. Reporter that is exactly right. We talked to a couple of people, who had been part of the evacuation drill. That is exactly what they feel. Comforted by the drill. And started an hour ago. We have seen a steady flow of cars make their way to the hannah boyd center in sonoma. You can see what is going on. A couple of tents are set up. A lot of information. Helping residents prepare, in case there is a wildfire. The drill is being focused where 98 percent of the acreage earned. And dozens of homes were destroyed in 2017. Residents are getting ready for the next wildfire. Mainly in and out of the area is cave field road. And their seven mile trek. There hundreds of homes on hills and drive brush all around. It is one of a handful of high risk areas in the county. Officials felt it needed the most attention. The drill is not just for residents to prepare. Also for officials to learn about issues that could come up during an emergency. Making sure that the primary artery evacuation routes are known, communicated and if we have chokepoints, we are working with Law Enforcement. And transportation partners. To make sure the choke points are opened up. Reporter and alert went out earlier this money from the Sonoma County alert and warning system, telling residents to evacuate. Law enforcement sounded a unique siren, which is new and only used an evacuation. Residents evacuated their homes and accepted the evacuation route. And ended up at the hannah boyd center in sonoma. Cal fire saved seven homes and seven homes have been destroyed. An Evacuation Center was set up in nearby rear ending at crosspoint committee church. Two peoplewere injured, and treated and released. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Airbnb is looking for hosts, who are willing to open their homes to help the folks that were displaced by the mountain fire. Is the whole thing funny it is a comedy. It is good making a movie is difficult. Comedy is the most difficult. And to make a short film that makes people laugh is funny also.
