A single vehicle spin outcrash and the car is on top of one of the guardrails and it could take a little while to tow that and clear that out of the way. Heres the bay bridge toll plaza on this friday morning sunrise. You see some flashing lights there. Im not sure what that is about. Well continue to get information on that. We dont have reports of crashes at the toll plaza just yet. But well continue to keep an eye on it. Looks like chp is pulling someone over into the parking lot. Lets go back to the desk. A subway station was evacuated this morning after two suspicious packages were found. Now we know they are not explosive devices. The new York Police Department tweeted out two images right here. It appears to be pressure cookers, investigators say they are not explosives. Trains have been skipping the fulton street subway station in Lower Manhattan as a precaution. This is a couple of blocks away from the world trade center. Investigators still have that subway station closed as well as surrounding streets so the police can sweep the area for any possible threats. This weekend kicks off the first of six weekends where bart is going to do major repair work on the tracks. Heres the area where its happening. Its going to be a busy weekend near the lafayette station. Coming through walnut creek, lafayette, or orinda, your commute will be delayed by 30 to 40 minutes or so. And thats part of a major project but it will take six weekends of inconvenience. The shutdown begins at 11 00 tonight. Crews need to close the far two left lanes to accommodate a large crane for track repairs. Bart will be replacing a mile of track between the orinda, lafayette, and walnut creek stations. Buses will provide between orinda and walnut creek. Its the first time that caltrans and bart are working together to shut down part of the freeway for the work. We expect a significant traffic impact. Up to 30 minutes potentially in delays, maybe more. Were going to be working in partnership with bart and in cooperation with them to monitor the situation as the work goes on. Reporter in addition to replacing track, theyll replace a half dozen switches. Those are vital components to the system that allow bart to redirect trains from line to line. And they plan on moving 2. 8 Million Pounds of rock. The commute on friday is typically pretty light. And we know its lighter on the weekends, if you happen to use bart, know that the commute will be impacted. A bus bridge between walnut creek and orinda stations and on eastbound 24, the far two left lanes will be closed. Live in lafayette. Cristina rendon, ktvu fox 2 news. The power is back on for thousands across the north bay after a major power outage. It started last night about 10 p. M. And affected 54,000 pg e customers in areas that include in a that, novato, napa, sausalito. The power was restored about 1 30 this morning. Pg e is trying to figure out what caused the power outage. Investigators in south san jose want to know whether a crash early yesterday triggered a 75acre wildfire in knocked out power to almost 2,000 pg e customers. It happened around noontime after a pickup truck slammed into a power pole. About 1700 pg e customers lost their power, 15 homes were evacuated, a 75acre fire is 80 contained. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Pg e is now accepting applications for the wildfire assistance program. People affected by the 2017 and 2018 wildfires can file claims. Pg es equipment was the cause of the fires. The fund was approved by the judge. The fund covers several fires, including the camp, tubs, and nun fire. One teacher has filed a formal complaint alleging that conditions at that school pose an emergency or urgent threat to the health and safety of students and staff over what they are calling excessive heat in the classrooms. Back to school for students at Skyline High School and schools in oakland has been a bit unbearable. Some classrooms have fans and others do not. Educators and students alike say its unbearable. I concentrate more on that im hot than on the assignments i have to do. Can we install central air conditioning in all of the schools. Thats impossible. We dont have the money to do that. Well mitigate these issues as quickly as we can. There are working to get 100 more fans distributed. A small grass fire started yesterday afternoon near foothill boulevard and grove way. It burned up a hillside and no homes were damaged and it was under control in about 30 minutes. In other parts of the east bay, firefighters have been removing dry brush, they created a fire break on a 17mile corridor between berkeley and lafayette. But the heat was making the work tough. It was so hot that it would have been dangerous for firefighters to wear normal firefighting gear. Were maintaining safety and have people work in long sleeved tshirts. Just to give them a little more ability to maintain their temperature. Firefighters have been trying to stay safe in the intense heat. And there are integrated shade areas and airconditions trucks to help the firefighters keep cool. The work is expected to be finished up today. Happening today, the final hearing in San Francisco about the warrants used by police to raid the home of freelance journalist brian carmody. Warrants were issued for his home, phone, and office. They wanted to find out how he obtained a police report. Five search warrants were obtained. So far, four of the five judges who authorized the searches have said that the warrants never should have been issued because they violated the california shield law. That law protects journalists from having to altheir sources to police. Happening in el paso, a large crowd of supporters is expected at a Prayer Service for one of the victims of the el paso shooting. After an online post made headlines. The funeral home posted this photo of Antonio Vasco saying he had no family and was inviting anyone who wanted to come to the Funeral Services for his wife margie. In philadelphia, people are demanding action after six Police Officers were shot during a confrontation this week with a gunman. The mayor, the governor of pennsylvania, and other political leader want lawmakers in washington to pass comprehensive gun control laws. Dozens of officials met at city hall pushing for expanded background checks and a ban on assault weapons. The gunman had a military style ar15. The officers need help. They need help keeping the weapons out of the hands of the bad guys. No one should have access to the kind of weaponry and fire power that we saw in north philadelphia. That shooting happened wednesday afternoon. Narcotics officers tried to serve a warrant on the gunman. Investigators say he then shot six Police Officers before barricading himself in a house for eight hours. He told investigators he had a long record and did not want to deal with prison again. Eventually, he surrendered and was arrested after being forced out of the house with tear gas. Now he may face life in prison. Dale earnhardt jr. And his family are recovering after their plane skidded off the end of a runway and caught fire. It happened in tennessee. He and his witch and daughter and two crew members were on the flight.
