And we have a warm start and a big launching pad for temperatures to soar into the afternoon hours. Take a look at all the records. Santa rosa, kentfield, napa tying a record. Oakland airport, sfo, and salinas tying a record. Here in general is what were dealing with. Another heat advisory and a spare the air alert. When we have a hot pattern and the wind is not strong, the air settles. And we have that layer of haze in the sky. Excessive heat warning, all the areas in red, a heat advisory until 8 00 this evening for the north bay, the inland east bay, and the santa clara valley. Temperatures 96 to 106 degrees. Its very warm in san jose. 71degrees. At 5 a. M. In the morning. San jose, 71. Oakland, mid60s, and santa rosa 58 degrees. Heres a live camera above San Francisco with mostly clear skies for this morning. In the afternoon hours, once again another round of intense heat. Oakland, 90 degrees. Things are okay if youre driving from 101 in the south bay making the super commute from the gilroy, morgan hill area, no issues to tell you about. 680 at mckee, that crash is in the clearing stages and no backup. The drive on the san mateo bridge westbound looks good. And 280, nice and clear. And we want to give you a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. The metering lights are not on. A family of six in vallejo needs a place to stay. There was a house fire and the family is homeless at the moment. The Vallejo Fire Department rushed to carter street in west vallejo. Youre looking at what it looked like when the firefighters got there. The fire was out by 1 00 this morning. No one was hurt and the red cross is is live with the wildfire dangers. The work is happening on the Wildcat Canyon road. They want to prevent wildfires from spreading if they happen to break out. They are trying to clean out as much brush as possible. And they plan to do prescribed burns. This stretches from berkeley to orinda to all the way where we are in lafayette. Theres shaded areas and hills. And they are trying to remove all of that. It began when police tried to serve a drug warrooting at the shots fired at police. We need s. W. A. T. Asap. Several philadelphia Police Officers were in the home. And somehow they escaped. A s. W. A. T. Team rescued the remaining officers five hours later. Thats when the suspect called a lawyer who says the man panicked and started shooting. He has a newborn daughter, two days old. He has a teenage son. He was very much concerned with the collateral consequences of being arrested which are his children, his wife. This morning, philadelphias Police Commissioner says the gunman talked on the phone with police, trying to negotiate his surrender. We have no information about the gunman yet. It could be a difficult day on wall street after u. S. Markets suffered the worst day of 2019 yesterday. The asian markets closed with closes. And european markets are sliding. And u. S. Stock futures have been fluctuating up and morning thats after yesterdays losses. The s p 500 was down 85 points. There were several contributing factors. Germany announced an economic slowdown. Police have identified the suspect as Austin James Vincent who has no known local address. Shes recovering from the bruises but cant escape the trauma. I cant stop thinking about the fact that this man is free after what he did to me. Free despite being charged with false imprisonment, attempted robbery, and two counts of battery. And free despite a Public Safety assessment done by the pretrial diversion project which recommended that vincent remain in custody. The workup is done based on a number of factors, including age, criminal history, and past failure to appear in court. You enter the information and an algorithm determines the recommendations. The judge did release vincent on the condition that he checks in with a case manager on a regular basis. The 25yearold was not ordered to wear a monitoring device. What is preventing him from attacking another woman tonight. Get on drugs, get high again. Its unbelievable. Reporter she was notified by the District Attorneys Office after vincent was released. She says she blames the city for not cracking down on criminal behavior. What are they waiting for . What are they even doing . They have one responsibility. Thats to protect us. The suspect ran to the deputys patrol car and when the deputy tried to stop him the suspect took out a knife. The suspect is 42yearold brad bateman and he was charged with multiple felonies. Today will be the first day of school in the Forestville Union School District. Despite the first teachers strike since 1980, the 16 members of the Teachers Association ran a three Year Contract with a 5 pay raise for the first three years. And a 3 cost of living raise. The School District offered a 2. 5 pay raise in the third year. No word on when negotiations will resume. A juror milestone a major milestone. Donations have poured in for the gilroy. This is southbound 101 south of candlestick park, theres a five vehicle crash, and its block two of the middle lanes. Southbound 101 north of south San Francisco exit is where the broken down bus is blocking one of the right lanes. And they are working on clearing that. Checking the commute from crazy. Westbound 205 at Mountain House parkway. Both vehicles are on the right hand shoulder, and its slow going to getting onto westbound 580. And the bay bridge toll plaza will be slow. The metering lights are now on. And a 20 minute delay get on the span unless youre in the carpool lanes. And if you want to pick up people at the casual carpool spots, you can get through the lanes much faster. 5 32, back to the desk. New help in the battle against the ebola virus. Two new treatments are promise. Amy kellogg has more on the treatments and how both may stop an outbreak in africa. Reporter two new treatments will be offered to all patients in the democratic republic of congo. Its the second deadliest outbreak ever and has killed 2,000 people since last summer. This will move us closer to finding an effective treatment for ebola. The trial involved four drugs. And out the four drugs, two treatments were deemed significantly more successful in combating the deadly disease in patients than the others. The preliminary results in 499 study participants indicated that those individuals receiving regeneron or had a greater chance for survival. Authorities say the two seemingly effective drugs could counteract the fear of dying from ebola. And help convince patients to seek treatment. Now there will be an extended study looking at all of the patients in the drc using one of the two drugs to determine ultimately which of the two is more effective. In milan, italy, amy kellogg, fox news. The Minnesota Department of health is warning about the dangers of vaping after four teens got sick and were treated for lung disease. Some of the them were being treated in care. Doctors are trying to figure out what happened to the teens, but they are concerned about the increase in teens using vaping products. In our cases, the teenagers presented with shortness of breath, with cough, with fever. Some had gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, nausea. Headache and dizziness are also symptoms. The u. S. Surgeon general has declared vaping among young people an epidemic. We start in San Francisco and along the peninsula, thats where you will have some traffic troubles to deal with. And its because of an earlier incident involving a charter bus, a full size bus was broken down and blocking one of the lanes. A short time later there was a four car crash. Southbound 101 at sierra point parkway. Several vehicles involved and two middle lanes are blocked. Below it where you see the tow truck icon is where they are trying to tow away the full sized bus blocking the right lane. And thats north of south San Francisco. And that will affect your drive if youre headed to San Francisco airport or south of there. Across the bay, that earlier crash, westbound 205 has been cleared. But theres still a lot of Traffic Congestion getting through the area and onto westbound 580. Through the Altamont Pass it clears up. And the rest of the east bay looks good.
