The crew including broadcaster Alex Rodriguez had left as much as half a Million Dollars worth of items inside the vehicle while eating dinner at a restaurant. Jana katsuyama joins us live from the neighborhood where that theft happened. Reporter tonight, we got a reaction from Alex Rodriguez. He says some of the items were irreplaceable. And had sentimental value. He was here at the restaurant behind me having dinner with an espn crew. At a restaurant last night when someone broke into their rented suv. The black suvs windows were smashed sunday night in yet another car breakin in San Francisco. If he can regain. Reporter he was calling the game for espn at oracle park. Espn says after the game, arod and about a dozen others stopped for dinner at marleau on brennan and fourth street. Police say thats when someone broke into the suv stealing bags, camera and equipment, laptop computer, other electrical equipment, and jewelry. Ktvu received a statement from rodriguez saying, quote, i am saddened that several items that were of a personal nature and irreplaceable with sentimental value were taken. Im encouraged that local Law Enforcement has security footage of the crime and are doing all they can to get the items back. On monday, staff at marleau said police had come to retrieve a Surveillance Video, a camera is positioned at the entrance. An espn spokesman said the suv did not belong to rodriguez but had been rented by espn. And says its an unfortunate situation. We are working with local authorities to address it. San Francisco Police dusted the suv for fingerprints sunday night. Although some reports stated the stolen property was worth half a Million Dollars, rodriguezs representative told ktvu that figure is exaggerated. Nan street say they arent surprised by the theft. Wasnt surprised. Especially this area. A lot of cars, a lot of people walking around. Ive seen a lot of broken glass in the area. It kind of comes and goes. Sometimes walk down the street and see piles. Reporter one tourist said he had heard about the citys problem with breakins and even saw one vehicle targeted during the trip. We were by the Golden Gate Bridge and just about four cars from where we parked, somebody broke the window in and had taken some stuff. Reporter some people asked me weather this special treatment with Police Coming out to dust for fingerprints. A spokesman tells me that that is their standard procedure and that anyone who has a breakin can wait and have Police Command ople who live along here say they hope that police do more patrols to try and prevent these car breakins. Developing news now in southern california, where a wild shootout near a busy freeway left a chp officer and a gunman dead. Two other officers were wounded. Authorities say the gunfire broke out just after 5 30 this evening during a traffic stop in riverside. The driver reportedly grabbed a rifle from inside his pickup truck and opened fire on the officer who pulled him over. Two other officers arrived shortly after and engaged in a gun battle. Authorities say dozens of rounds were fired at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing bullets flying through their windshield. The shooting happened just off the 215 freeway near rock springs boulevard. The conditions of the surviving officers unknown at this time. The fallen officer has been identified as officer andre moye. The family shared this photo of him. They say he was a fouryear veteran of the chp. Dozens of officers have descended on the hospital where at least one of the officers was taken. Right now a News Conference is underway to give us an update on the investigation. Lets go ahead and take a listen to this News Conference in riverside. The first two officers immediately were engaged with gunfire by the suspect. Our officers returned fire. Unfortunately during this exchange of gunfire, both of those officers were struck by the suspect firing at them. One of those officers received major injuries and is in Critical Condition. He was transported to riverside moreno valley. And other officer received minor injuries as a result of the gunfire. At this time, we had a third, im sorry, a fourth chp officer arrived on scene. He also immediately engaged the suspect in gunfire. The suspect did return fire and at this time, multiple officers and deputies from the Riverside Sheriffs Department and the Riverside Police department responded. They ultimately engaged the suspect in gunfire, and the suspect was struck and he did succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Unfortunately, the first officer that was on the scene for the california Highway Patrol that made the initial traffic stop, he was transported by air ambulance to Riverside UniversityHealth Center where he was pronounced d. C. s as a result of the gunfire from the suspect. The chp giving more details on the tragic shootout that happened in riverside. As you just heard, left one chp officer dead. We did get an update on the conditions of the other two officers that were injured. One of them suffering major injuries in Critical Condition at this time. The other chp officer, less severely injured but is right now also being treated for gunshot wounds. We will have much more on this story coming up on the 11 00 news. Since then, the district has housed Counseling Centers at several schools. We had a training for all of our staff today. They came back so we had trainings at all 15 sites on how to deal with students who have been traumatized by these events. Reporter she urges students to get back into their normal routine. She says the mood is now more hopeful. The schools will be a safe place for students to be. We encourage children to come, students to come to school. Reporter as for mr. A shootout tonight on a busy freeway, a chp officer is dead. Three other officers were wounded. The gunman is also dead. The 11 00 news on ktvu fox 2 starts now. Authorities say the officer who was killed had been with the Highway Patrol for four years. All of this happened during a traffic stop in riverside. Hello again, im frank somerville. And im heather holmes. We begin with this developing news. It started around 5 30 this evening with that traffic stop. The gunman reportedly grabbed a rifle from his truck and started shooting at the officer. The officer managed to radio for help in the middle of the gunfire. Two other officers arrived shortly after and engaged in a gun battle with that suspect. Both of them were wounded. Deputies and a Police Officer also arrived on the scene. Witnesses reported seeing bullets flying through their windshield. The shoot out happened just off the 215 freeway near box springs boulevard in riverside. Dozens of officers have descended on hospital where at least one of those officers was taken. One officer is in Critical Condition, two others are being treated for nonlife threatening injuries. The gunman was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. It was a long and horrific gun battle. And it resulted in a very extensive crime scene
