One of the announcers said one of the first runners of the marathon has already finished and has gone halfway. We are expecting that person and a couple more to finish within the next hour. One person has died after a crash on highway 237. The chp says it was reported after 3 30 this morning western the identity of the person hit was not released. Chp did shutdown several lanes as they investigated the crash. All lanes have since reopened. No immediate reports of any injuries or arrests. One person killed and 11 others injured when a gunman opened fire at an event in your. Happened late last night at a Community Event in the east of brookland neighborhood of brownsville. 12 people were shot including a 38yearold man the died at the hospital. At least six other people were taken to the hospital some with serious injuries. No arrests dismayed and police have not been given any other details about possible suspects or a motive. Time not is 7 05. Six suspects are from oakland. The seventh is out of orange county. Police detectives locating the seventh suspects and take them into custody thursday. The Early Morning hours of june 23 dozens of shots fired out side a bar near beacon avenue. One person was t and suffered minor injuries. Also in san mateo two men are behind bars after police say they were found with utility worker uniforms, burglary tools and suspected stolen property. 30yearold Brandon Harper and david quinn were taken into custody friday morning after leading San Mateo Police on a pursuit into redwood city. Officers spotted them in a Nissan Altima with paper dealer plates. When they attempted to pull them over the suspects drove off and sideswiped another vehicle in the process. Harper was found a mile away running near radio road. Quinn surrendered to police. To San Francisco teens have been arrested and expected to be charged in the stabbing death of an Italian Police officer. We are hearing from neighbors of the suspects. Finnigan the elder and Gabriel Christian north. The family is not asking for privacy. A memorial for a slain officer growing in rome on the Street Corner where mario, a 35 yearold newlywed and officer of the police force was stabbed to death. The suspect identified as 19 yearold finnigan elder and 18 yearold Gabriel Christian north both from San Francisco accused of killing the officer after a drug deal gone wrong. That is how it was until we heard there was a chance to go back to jerusalem. That is what we passed from one generation to the next. In the 80s that was a chance to do that. Like i said in the 80s there was a civil war going on in ethiopia and a famine. Concerts all over the world trying to raise food and money for ethiopia. One of the groups in ethiopia was the ethiopian juice. That is what they called us in ethiopia. The only way to rescue us was from sudan. At that time he was a serious risk for these people. The same thing for us. We left our homes and walked for weeks without any knowledge of where we were going and how are we going to do it. We kept going on the way to sudan. From there we got our last help. All of that you can see in the movie. Have you heard any criticism or backlash because of the making of this . Have you also heard from others who share the story . I think people are surprised and excited. It is very inspirational to see the mossad and the government is actually taking steps to save people. This is not a mission to kill people. This is to bring people to their home. There is always going to be backlash but it is a movie it is not a documentary. It is not a lesson on history. It is a chance to share our legacy together and see how they Work Together and how they embrace each other and how they are holding a community together. We want our children to learn from that. Good to have you. My first question, how is your body holding up . You have run well over 100 marathons. How are you doing . I am actually surprisingly doing well. The energy boost i get going from town to town has been amazing. Emotionally and even physically i have been holding up pretty well. It has been wonderful to get the support from some of the local communities. I am feeling great. How many miles have you run . You must have blown out a sneakers and been a little sore along the way. There is a lot there to unpack. I have run 5300 miles of our. A little bit more than 5300 miles. Have run through different parts of the south and kind of gone up north over the east coast. Some of the Biggest Challenges i have had physically as i got a pretty bad set of shin splints that blew up when i was in amarillo, texas. About halfway through the journey i had some pretty bad shin splints. Luckily, i got to some massage therapists. That was important. Would just throw up the map. Along the way you started and worked away in Southern California through arizona down to texas, up to oklahoma, to the south, kentucky, tennessee and of the eastern seaboard. It is phenomenal. Along the way you are meeting a lot of people. We talked before you lift. You wanted to find out why our country has his great divide. What have you discovered talking to people along the way . The funny thing about what i have discovered so far is that a lot of the interactions that you have on the internet and online are not actually interact actions naturally that you would have when you live in the local community. When i visit local communities even with people i talked to online our interactions are very different in terms of trying to come to a compromise over any topic whatsoever. I am finding that when you go to local communities and you see how folks live you kind of get this rapport with them that you cannot get when you are chatting online. I think a lot of the divide exists online. The some of it may be a little manufactured if you cannot meet with them in the local community. Nothing like that faceto face meeting. Talk about we are raising money for. I know you have stopped at a number of firehouses. I had the Boston Fire Department but a show for you. You are raising awareness and money for firefighter cancer fun. How has that gone . It has been unbelievable. Firefighter cancer is a big issue. I would dare say it is an epidemic. The firefighters in terms of what they are exposed to the have a much greater risk at contracting cancer. One of the biggest problems of the cancer they get is not that they are at a higher risk but rather the cancer they get is a lot faster moving than some of the cancer we would get. As i have been running across america i have been realizing and understanding how much this impacts the local firefighter community. As i have been going along it has been more and more important to raise awareness and raise funds for firefighter Cancer Support network. When i got into boston i cannot believe how tuned in to the whole problem they were. Commissioner finn was amazing in terms of getting the word out to all the fire stations. We ran across four different fire stations and they basically give us water and support. They came and clapped as me and a bunch of friends ran along. It was an amazing day. Finally at the last 23 miles they escorted us to the Boston Marathon finish line. Actually shut down the street in order to get us through. That shows how important this causes in fire fired cancer awareness. We will talk about how people can donate. Youre going to Plymouth Rock working your way.
