Reporter it is a fantastic friday morning with everyone indeed working for the weekend. The city by the bay looking sharp for late july and no fog to be found and we are warming up here in this historic popular Downtown Sunnyvale. It is alive and well, home to plenty of restaurants, momand pop shops and the Farmers Market. We packed up and back out here for another zip trip. I am alongside Gasia Mikaelian and mike mibach. The big city that has the small town feeling. Reporter decades ago sunnyvale was fruit orchards but now multimillion dollar homes with Big Tech Companies not only influenced the bay area but the world. Lets introduce you to the starting lineup. We have Sal Castaneda ugut the hour. We have Frank Mallicoat with us i think he has first when it comes to trivia but i think theres one resident that knelt every question. We have claudia, the Hometown Hero and you will hear from Bryan Boitano and his connection to sunnyvale. We are here at south murphy avenue and many people think they know whats happening at the old 94086. How well do you know sunnyvale and take a listen. Reporter sunnyvale is the seventh most popular city in the bay area and a big part of Silicon Valley, now home to 140,000 people in originally founded as the city of murphy. It was named after the president mark murphy jr. , arranger and wheat farmer. It became uneconomical to be a wheat farmer and small fruit orchards replace the large wheat farm and in 1871 the first fruit cannery was established in Fruit Canning and agriculture was soon a major industry in the area and streetcars and railcars increasing viability of the economy based on fruit. In 1912 sunnyvale was incorporated as an official city and during world war ii it changed from fruit to the high Tech Industry and they built marine steam engines, naval guns and rocket engines to aid in the war effort. The fruit orchards were cleared to build factories, homes and offices and the aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin moved its headquarters to sunnyvale and says he and a number of hightech countries establishing headquarters including amv, linkedin and yahoo. Reporter it is only 10 miles away, minetto San Jose International airport. Very convenient and not a lot of delays in and out of minetto international airport. We also check in with sal, and where are you . Ror south murphy avenue craft brewe i will bring in the general manager, audrey in this is a special week. It is Silicon Valley brewery we can all the breweries in Silicon Valley have beer specials and events, things to bring awareness to the craft breweries around all of the cities. Reporter audrey, im all about bringing awareness to craft breweries. That is awareness we need to have and later on we will talk with some of the restaurants. I had one of the best burgers ive had in a while here. I also had seafood risotto and indian food. Its a good place to eat, drink, and you will see more about what i did coming down south murphy avenue in a ou g assignments. Reporter seafood risotto, you got me right there. Reporter i will put seafood risotto at my childs lunchbox and we are all about backto school and so many are. Fortunate to get the backpack, brandnew shoes and School Supplies but many people do not know there are families ulfill that need for their avenue and be generous enough to give only 40 and that donation goes straight to the sunnyvale family and Community Services for backpack day august 1st but give now for the 40 donation. That gives shoes, backpack and immediate School Supplies. We all know what a new pair shoes hills like and we will talk more about this coming up in a second. Reporter the emphasis is 40. Reporter right and they can make that money go a far way. Reporter lets get over to Frank Mallicoat who is getting into trouble in sunnyvale over the last week or two. Reporter there are too Many Police Officers here for that. Not in any trouble and i am actually having a lot of fun, to say the least. We are here on murphy avenue. It is a gorgeous day and after all they do call it sunnyvale. This is right in the middle of this high tech hub of. This is the Beautiful Tree lined street with dozens of restaurants that are regiving away free stuff as we zip trip. There is a little bit of food being given out and we have that wonderful Ice Cream Sandwich that originated in San Francisco at playland back in the 1920s. This is charlie, president and good morning. Tell us what is so special and why is its fifth such a big hit question mark its accommodation cookies, ice cream and chocolate and you cannot go wrong with these treats altogether. It has history and around since 1928 and the name is very catchy. When people here they say what is it in that type of thing. How did it get its name back when . I dont have the exact information but i think one idea was George Whitney working with cookies, ice cream and dabbling with it and he came up with this combination and said this is it. Reporter there you go. I had them as a kid, and betty i know your daughter works with you so lets unwrap one and taste one. I like the mint, and what is your favorite, charlie . I like them all. Spoken like the true good an all over the west coast. We are all over the west coast. Reporter betty, i can imagine this is been a big family thing for a lot of years. Yes. We grew up in San Francisco and would love to see multiple generations enjoying and would love to share with the families in the bay area. After all we are in sunnyvale. Reporter it is sunny some 300 days out of the year so come and eat some ice cream. We have the big party going on and we have a lot of fun stuff. Back to you. Reporter thank you, of frank, and i love its it and i love them all. Reporter i could wolf down two in one afternoon at the pool. I do split one with my husband but lets talk more about sunnyvale and mayor larry kline will join us in second and when you think about being there you future but he is in in the position on the Planning Commission and Historic Society board and we will talk with the mayor light coming up. Welcome back to the nine live from Downtown Sunnyvale and you are listening to the evan thomas blues band. It is the sense of the old mississippi delta blues and we have wally that is the drummer in the threepiece band and George Franklin on the base. This is a very busy band not only joining us here on the nine but after this they pack up to head to the gilroy garlic festival and after that they had to san ramon to play gig tonight and tomorrow back to the Concert Series in sunnyvale. We will hear from them throughout the morning. Reporter we are all tapping our toes and if you are hungry murphy avenue is the place to be to get your burgers, caviar and everything in between and would get the taste of the town at ktea cafe. Reporter thats right and i will make something that the ktea cafe specializes in. Lets bring in katy wong, the person that will show me how to make the gin bing and it is a crepe. That is the one i will make it it seems complicated but she assures me we can make it. In the meantime im sipping on green tight milk teeth. It is very good. When i came to sunnyvale my job obviously is to find out whats good to eat and especially on south murphy avenue with a lot of choices so lets go for a taste of the town. Reporter this large group of serving quality berkeley with house made beer in this open dining environment and the food master Michael Barker follows the beer trends when he on itthe ipa but i think we will see a lot of people making the traditional german loggers and mexicanstyle as well as that comes in now. Reporter they grill up mean taco to go with those mexican style lagers and the them burger is spicy. Since i am the professional i get paid to eat in this is the diablo burger. Reporter spicy. Down the block tried the middle eastern dishes at the dish dash restaurant and grilled chicken, lamb and beef along with rice and exotic spices and dont forget the fresh hot pita bread. The longtime customers have their favorites. One signature is the mint di with simmered lamb and aged it middle east and people really love that dish. Reporter we watched the dishes being turned out by the kitchen for the busy like service and if youre not familiar with middle eastern food and you need guidance, the staff is eager to help. We will explain to the newcomers what to order and thats important when the customer walks in, and they may not know what to order. Reporter on south murphy avenue we have the oldschool italian bistro and what used to be the old post office, and now il postale is the place to get your risotto, pasta and more and everything you would expect at a place like this, the owner has been at the helm for 24 years. I know most of the regulars and mike staff is been around for long time in the kitchen staff averaging 15 to 20 years and staff for 10 years reporter in the kitchen the staff is whipping up the seafood risotto. Reporter the final product brought me back to this delicious italian seafood dish i had growing up. I just found the scallop and that is so good. Reporter right here along south murphy avenue theres so much to eat. Its one of the blocks were you can come, mike and gasia , and choose but you may have to work it up to one or two weeks before you could try everything on the block. Theres a lot to eat and i want you to try some of the places i mentioned or some of the other businesses along here and they are ready for you. That challenge is accepted. Thanks for the taste of the town. Reporter i noticed when i pulled in at el camino rialto and sunnyvale, its the cleanliness and it is spotless. That means they have a good leader in town so lets introduce you to the leader of sunnyvale, mayor larry klein and i was just telling everyone you have a very clean city. In general we have gone on trips that are not that great. Definitely sunnyvale does a lot to make sure that the services are good. He goes from picking up the trash to cleaning the streets on a weekly basis, and making sure especially the historic murphy avenue is up to par for all of the visitors. Reporter there are not a lot of empty storefronts around here and is that a sign of the times . Absolutely. Sunnyvale has been a place to do business for many, many years, and from the downtown standpoint weve had a lot of turnover with a lot of new businesses coming in. The new mall with phase 1 opening at the end of the year, a big step as far as the city is concerned. Reporter many people equate sunnyvale with yahoo and i still have my yahoo email address and i cannot imagine giving it up. Yahoo was once the dominant business and google made the 1 billion purchase of yahoo headquarters and other properties, and how is the city changing . Sunnyvale has always reflected the valley from the Defense Industry of the 50s and 60s, highTech Industry for the last 20 years. We are the meeting ground for all of the hightech companies with google, facebook, apple, amazon and also the lucky market. We have all of these companies doing business in sunnyvale but we are not beholden to one specific company which is a big thing. 95 of our businesses have fewer than 25 employees. This is a small town and a small town business also. It is also where the big and mediumsize companies come. Reporter a lot of cities are dealing with the homeless crisis and sunnyvale comes up with the recent report of homelessness growing one at 50 or something and you agree with that report or is that report misleading question mark we have actually not had that big of an increase. In 2017 we thought we were undercounted which is the big thing we did trying to make sure that we put enough effort into getting an accurate count, so that we get appropriate Community Services. Our nonprofits and working spend a lot of time to make sure we found how many people were actually in our community. We have the coldweather shelter that is now yearround and we have a lot of Services Like the sunnyvale Community Services, and they provide services for the homeless as well as seniors and kids. Reporter i did my pretend shopping on the fair city of sunnyvale with the median price about 1. 6 million. With the figures that hike how do you take care of middle class are is there middleclass in sunnyvale . Definitely there is still middleclass in sunnyvale and sunnyvale has a long tradition trying to create housing in the city going back to the 80s. We put the first below market rate requirements in place and rezoned a lot of industrial into residential. The old campus, approved 1100 units on the campus with the 6. 5 acre park last month. We make sure we add the in log units with housing near downtown. We have added hundreds of units downtown near the caltrain station and sprinkled throughoutthe city. We make sure we had units as well as taking money and dedicating lines from all the development for the hightech that goes to find Affordable Housing within the city. Reporter you have a lot of competition with your neighbors, Mountain View, santa clara and i will say that sunnyvale stands out in a great city with a great hub pub behind us, harveys. Mayor, always a pleasure and a great avenue. Reporter there some the people there from sunnyvale including more than a few Police Officers. When you see a Police Officer you may think traffic ticket or safety enforcement but there are programs many officers involved in which means biggs and blue which is the oneon one mentorship with the boys and girls in the community that may need some help in changing their perception of what the police do. We have more on that in a second, live from sunnyvale. Reporter welcome back to the nine live from Downtown Sunnyvale. I like a good blues band and thats what we had this morning, the evan thomas blues band. We have a lot of style and tone. I asked him about the inspiration and to name a few, bb king, eric clapton and jimi hendrix. Reporter i can hear it all and it is a busy morning here in sunnyvale and i never felt safer. We are surrounded by members of the Sunnyvale Police department. We will talk about not only Public Safety but a program bringing the use of sunnyvale and to what the Police Department does and they do some things not associated with Police Officers and this is officer Joe Hart Tracy and lacey baylor and your partnered up with a program called ktea cafe. Officer tracy, what is bigs in blue and why did you get involved . This is a program we have that is under the umbrella of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the bay area. It is essentially a program where officers have opportunity to get connected with the youth in the community to provide positive influence and frankly friendships that help them negative eight through the tough times. Reporter what about you . Is been really good and a mentor came along in my life. We go to movies and we like to eat salads, play basketball, and we have sleepovers, and we do a lot of stuff. Reporter officer, is it interesting to see the growth from the beginning, the first time you shake hands, or whatever it is a year or two later. Its been amazing and ive been part of this program for about a year now. The amount of weve been able to accomplish has been amazing. I referred to lincoln as a young man and he has been through a lot at his young age. Im blessed to have opportunity to be part of his life. I think both of us have grown tremendously throughout the community. Reporter lincoln, when you talk with your friends, do they get what youre doing sort of. It is kind of a mix. Reporter when you look at your big brother what is one of your favorite things about him . He is tall. Reporter out tall are you . I have six foot two inches but drinking. Reporter give me another one. He has an awesome sense of humor. Reporter is there anything you give him a hard time about and be honest. Im not sure. Reporter that says a lot and thank you both for being here a big part of this program obviously and have a great rest of your summer and school year coming up. Thank you very much. Reporter still to come on the nine from Downtown Sunnyvale we check in with Frank Mallicoat to touch base and give us a more citric trivia, and one interesting fact, and i think someone answered a lot of questions he threw at them and i dont think that has happened before as we take the show on the road. Live from Downtown Sunnyvale, the nine is back after the break. Break. Reporter we have wally and george from the evan thomas blues brand band bringing it. That is a busy band, by the way. Not only are they here right now but they are playing at the gilroy garlic festival and packing up to head to san ramon. Maybe you liven festival taking where we are downtown tomorrow night. Reporter tomorrow morning, by the way, have to find the Farmers Market wherever as tech. A few years ago by the brother got his first videogame system and i think it was nintendo, super mario bros. That is one thing that sunnyvale is known for but a lot of people dont know beyond that. We sent right now caught out and around the see Frank Mallicoat around the see and give us the results, frank. Reporter im not far away from you and we will get to the trivia in a moment. I met the metro city restaurant and that maybe the best eggs benedict i have ever seen. Have you taken a bite yet . A little bit. Reporter she has been patiently waiting but you y, al it is a great time down here on murphy avenue, by the way. This city has gone through a lot of from agriculture 63 years, believe i not. He said 53 years ago he would hunt doves and jackrabbits a few blocks from here. Getting back to the trivia one wanted to know how much the folks of sunnyvale really know about their town and here we go. Reporter one thing that started the gaming craze it was developed in the bar and sunnyvale and can you name it . Im sure you have played paying ping blank. That is pingpong. Pong. Reporter are you sure . Im sure. Reporter the water tower supplied water to the orchards of sunnyvale and there are four fruits that are featured on the can, and can you name them . The peaks, pare back and pineapple. Cherry. Reporter jerry is right. Peaches, strawberries and mango. Reporter you are 0 for 3. Pear. Reporter that is right. Which Gold Medalist grew up here winning figure skating in the late 80s can you name him . I cannot. Is that paul tono . Reporter if youre not a girl you are a would that be brine boyd ryan boitano. Reporter the city of sunnyvale got his game for a very particular reason and i wonder what that is, you can phone a friend. It is not working. Chris . I want my life back. Your intuition is correct, the sun is always shining in sunnyvale. Sometimes these questions are too easy. Reporter dont ask me what Mountain View is named for because you cannot see the mountains but that is another story. That is another zip trip story. Reporter what did they call sunnyvale before it incorporated in 1912 . Oh my gosh, i have no idea and this is a lot of pressure. Reporter is pretty intuitive and what street are you on . Murphy street so murphy. Reporter murphy is correct. Oh my gosh. Reporter all right. 140 hightech companies and Aerospace Companies right here in sunnyvale. You may have heard of Juniper Networks and one of the biggies is yahoo. I dont think this is true but im going to throw this out for what its worth but it could be the home of the bloody mary. Look at the aquarium size bloody marys outside of metro city and dave, your familys been here for how long . 101 years in sunnyvale. Reporter how enjoyable is this bloody mary . It is also met metro city Downtown Sunnyvale, a great place for breakfast or cocktails. Reporter you are on vacation, and enjoy, and what a way to start. Cheers from channel 2. Cheers from sunnyvale. Reporter guys, not far away, and we are throwing it back to you. Reporter we will take two of those buddy marys at 10 05 am. Every now and then i like my bloody marys. Reporter right now i introduce our next guest, Maria Rodriguez who is the tech director of sunnyvale. Welcome and i know theres a big thing going on next month august 29 at the sunnyvale tech fair and tell us about this. The Technology Expo is here in sunnyvale to promote Technology Businesses and introduce the products that we develop within the community. It will be held right here on murphys avenue august 29. Reporter what is it for me to find a job in sunnyvale . It is for people to know about technology developing in the community. Reporter what is somethings produced in sunnyvale but may not know about. Reporter there is a product that is a handheld device, a nonevasive hypertension device. You can put it to the polls on your neck and for five minutes it will reduce your blood pressure. Reporter what else . We have drones that can help out during their cases or fires, any type of inspection, and things like lot more robots here definitely that you can see the robots and you can hear the plains flying over us. Reporter it is a busy area. It is busy technology around here but we have the robots, the drones and everything at the takes expo. Reporter we have a live picture right now. Check robot. What are one of the things you dont expect going into it . The excitement it brings to those that attend and attendees have no idea what is happening in sunnyvale or what the businesses are doing it gives opportunity to check out the products. That is the most exciting thing. Reporter i know a lot of people are excited about technology and the drones, robots, and i think we may be showing one right now. For those of us intimidated by technology, what do you say to baby the generation or the people thow that i get it and how you introduce technology the people that may not have grown up with it . Its pretty much like a new toy. When you buy a new product he thing great, i have a new toy to try out, and all the benefits you get out of it. You have to give it a try and it is so beneficial, every new product, i say try it. Reporter what about you, maria, are you tech savvy and when you go into your home reporter doesnt tell you that you need more milk question mark i dont have the smart bridge but i will try. Reporter thank you, maria, very much in the tech fair is august 29th and is it all day . August 29 on murphy avenue from 1130 through 1 30 pm so come have lunch and check out the products. Reporter thank you very much, maria, and have a good weekend. Reporter sunnyvale is tech but you cannot minimize the people to people relations and these Police Officers, these guys and gals to triple duty with Police Officers, firefighters and emts all behind one badge and all of it theres one officer that claudia wong spoke with not long ago that goes above and beyond to offer a helping hand, a stick or a warm blanket, changing the lives of people for years and her now. Are you okay question mark reporter a chance meeting and civil stop by detective mary cayori that only one snow with this woman needed anything. I can give her some eyes to keep her cleaner and cooler. Reporter something she does and something her colleagues noticed but she does not think this is a big deal. Its like the people in new york that say i can pop my trunk and what you need because ive got you. Reporter we asked her why she became a Police Officer. I know the majority is to help people and i know that sounds like a cheesy answer but it really is to make a difference in community, and to help people that are unable to help themselves. Reporter maybe its in the blood or something that was just meant to be. My mother and i Police Department in san jose for a few years together and it was kind of neat. She understands it is my calling. I enjoy my job every day. Reporter like all sunnyvale Police Officers, detective mary cayori is also a firefighter and emt. I think i noticed the need more. I think once youre doing this job for little bit longer, i think you have humility. Reporter last winter when the rains came and the winter never seem to let up, detective mary cayori factor first bag of supplies. I have a blanket, and stuff for when it rains. They can put a blanket underneath and put the poncho over there blanket so at their blankets dont get wet. Reporter when she saw someone that was homeless she would ask them what they needed. They were grateful. I start walking up and they say i will leave and i tell them no, you are fine, but do you need anything and can i do anything for you. Reporter this bag has been refilled many times but she does not keep track. I have no idea. When i run out of something i go to target, walmart or somewhere and buy in ball. Reporter even though the rains are gone the back still stays, and these days she is investigating Sexual Assault cases. Someone has to do it and not a lot of people like to do it but i like to protect our children. Reporter while it is tough and commentator work, detective mary cayori finds the joy in the simple things. Let me share my stickers. Reporter when she finds stickers she did not think she had, its hard to see who is happier, cayori or the kids. Cannot put my sticker on you . Now we are twins. Reporter it is not just part of the job but how she does the job, big cases and little moments, all wrapped up together. Are you okay . Thank you very much. You are welcome. Reporter claudia wong, ktvu fox 2 news. Reporter detective mary cayori going above and beyond , no doubt, and thank you, detective for all you do in sunnyvale. Reporter you mentioned, gasia, that a lot of these police are firefighters as well. For my personal story i have 12 nieces and nephews and today one of my nephews will become a firefighter and graduated from the Fire Training in denver and congratulations. I get to spend time with him this weekend and now i have a firefighter in the family. Reporter wonderful and give him a hug on our behalf. In sunnyvale on murphy avenue we are threatened by shops, cafis, food, food and food. We will introduce you to a special taste of something you may not have seen anything else and i think that sal is going to with this upfronts, this fried pancake or stuffed cake, and it was delicious. I am brine baton of, olympic Gold Medalist and sunnyvale native. I could not be in sunnyvale right now because im in sweden but i carry sunnyvale with me. My parents bought the house i grew up in back in 1958 when sunnyvale was only fruit trees and i remember playing in the fields when i was a child. It was a great place to grow up and no matter where i go in the world i have a piece of sunnyvale in my heart. Cheers. Reporter cheers to you, brine and it was nice of him to do that message and i remember running through the hills of novato and running the streets of San Francisco and they had a major impact in my life and obviously you can tell that brian boitana connects with sunnyvale, and from 1988, and congratulations to him because he also has a world championships, a couple of those. Reporter i know you have the world championship. And i know you like to eat a lot. Lets clarify that, about four days a week. Reporter and we have found something with Sal Castaneda, and i know i could never make this at home but it a fried crepe but you have to tell us how that is made at the ktea cafe. Reporter this is made after katy and named after her and she is making the jain bing and welcome back, katy. I have never had this but its not very common. Not common at all and we drink jain bing and it is street food. It is made with heart and love. Reporter it the crepe maker yes i am and this is the crepe batter that i make with special ingredients. Reporter always wondered how you spread that crepe batter so thin. This is how we do it. Reporter what do you fill the jain bing with . We also at the sesame, onion, green onions and after that we put in the filler. Reporter i wanted ask you and people come from a long way away to get this because theyre not so common . Yes. This is from lawrence, china and the reason i brought this over is it brings back memories and they never get it in this way you can get it from here. Reporter that has a little bit of great onion yes, green onion, sesame and eggs and this is the classical, reporter so heres the next step, and come over here. All right. Right. You know when it is ready to flip . You touch it, and you can feel it and it will feel firm when you flip it over. Reporter let me watch you flip it. There we go and, sal, can you help me . Perfect, good job. Reporter thank you. Because it is television and we are almost running out of time, may i see what the finished product looks like . Yes, of course. Reporter because i want to try and ive never had one of these. All right. I am to spare you guys from eating on television because first of all, it is kind of messy. But, gasia, if you want i can bring some of this to you later on and we can try it together, illdo that. Reporter do it and say behalf. I love it and another smell i love is the smell of a new book. I am here in the bookasaurus along with the owner and thank you for joining us. We talk about summer and Summer Reading you have a lot for the little ones here. We do it we offer incentives for the kids to read and we have kids that can fill in the reading list over the summer and that coming to collect prizes and they have a party at the end. I love that incentive. Reporter yes, and helps them keep track of what they are reading. We have Fund Programs to keep the kids in the city and we have the where is waldo program. It is hidden and 20 different locatithe sunnlibrary, local cafis and independent businesses here in sunnyare 9 and 10 and they are voracious readers. I read that parents should never limit what the child can read and they have gravitated to the graphic novel and how do you adapt to perhaps children changing taste when it comes to the books . Some children even read by listening to the audiobook. Reporter does it count as reading . And helps them with stories and they should probably be reading, but it helps them think about the stories and who is the protagonist. What other characters in the story and what happens because retelling the story is also important. We have a huge selection of graphic novels for the kids that prefer to read the graphic novels. Reporter thank you for inviting us into the bookasauraus here on murphy avenue and thank you and have a great summer. Reporter i can breathe that maybe 10 times. Much more to come on the nine, and when we return to talk about a big day in sunnyvale and specifically august 1st, known as backpack day. Many kids here in sunnyvale cannot get their hands on a backpack or needed School Supplies but we will return to tell you how you can help for only 40, live from Downtown Sunnyvale. Dales little girl is heading to college. Luckily her dorm is about 10 minutes from a hotel by wyndham. Ashleys meeting all her inlaws, and shes about 10 minutes from a wyndham. With over 6,000 Hotels Across the country, a great hotel by wyndham is closer than you think. Visit wyndhamhotels. Com. Reporter the evan thomas blues band has been a blue all morning long right here and not only are they playing with us this morning but they are heading down to the gilroy garlic festival. After that they will pack up heading north into san ramon. Tomorrow they will be back here for the sunnyvale jazz and beyond festival right here in the downtown area. We appreciate these three for coming out tonight. They are apparently playing my birthday next june so i will come down. Wonderful, excellent. Reporter we are already looking forward to back to school and heres your opportunity to come down and do good things. This is marie bernard, executive director of the sunnyvale Community Services, and thank you for being with us. Good morning and welcome back to sunnyvale. Reporter youre asking people to come and donate 40 and you could do a lot with at 40. That is a gift card for child was 1700 children that get filled backpacks, shoes and other necessities, and that way they can go back to school head to toe. Reporter and you get School Supplies, but i dont hear about the shoes too often. What we heard from the principals and teachers at the schools is that a lot of the children really are not getting shoes during the school year. They come to school with holes in their shoes, and the Community Responded very well when we said we wanted to make sure they have not only the calculator and backpack, but they have got something that will help them be ready for athletics and just to be him to walk to school every day. It gives them pride. Reporter you dont think about that and i love that. Reporter Something Else people may not think about in sunnyvale is that there are people that are needed. The median price is 1. 6 million and you have a lot of millionaires but there are people that have needs in their one out of four children in sunnyvale are at risk of hunger and they are missing meals or the parents will choose whether they can eat or that the high it takes 3. To 4 incomes to afford a typical rental here. Backpack, shoes, food and medicine becomes a luxury for people here struggling, that are not necessarily at the high income here in sunnyvale. Reporter let me mention that sunnyvale Community Services has backpack day, thursday, august 1st. That is the day you can bring 40 for your donation to go toward the shoes and backpacks so join us on and start murphy avenue right here in sunnyvale, and thank you for all your help. Thank you. Reporter we are almost done with the hour but we are not done with zip trips and we have two more this summer. We go to clinton or clayton, and wait in the Summer Season in fremont august 23rd. We are coming to your home. Reporter you brought the jain bing. This is eggs, green onions. Reporter this is all for me and thank you for joining us here in sunnyvale for this glorious morning. Announcer live from new york city, its the Wendy Williams show and now, heres wendy [cheers and applause] [cheers and applause]
