Within the last 15 minutes or so a hazmat vehicle showed up that spark right in front of the building where that suspicious substance was discovered earlier today. Skyfox was over the scene after noon on monday morning at one of facebooks milligrams located on hamilton court. The Fire Department along with san mateo hazmat were on the scene after receiving reports of the vicious suspicious packages. Staff followed normal procedures they have for the mail protocol. In the aftermath of the discovery employees in an additional three buildings which House Offices were ordered out. We are going off information that they had a suspect with a package. And possible contents. We are responding to that. Reporter yellow tape blocking off the parking lot, looking closer you can see redtape close to the building where those packages were found. We have five in the building, two with potential if there is any exposure. Again we are not showing signs or symptoms. Reporter while employees were given the all clear it is not known what caused employees to believe what they is covered with temple. When we need to go in and actually test the product to see if there is any concern. And verified. Waste on test results we will determine the action. Reporter as you look at the hazmat vehicle that pulled in about 15 minutes ago, the activity really has seemed to pick up. We have been out here since just before 1 00 and it was lagging. We are in a Holding Pattern but now we see a large gathering of officials right in front of the building where the substance was discovered. Facebook spokesperson Anthony Harrison says authorities have not determined the suspect substance and the Fire Department say they do not know what the substances. The Salesforce Transit Center is back open but services are on hold. Emergency repairs forced the hub to close back in september. That is when cracks are found in the support beams of the brandnew 2. 2 billion facility. Now, here we are nine months later and only the centers Entrance Hall and rooftop park are back open. The bus platform and bridge are being closed and repairs have been made. They say the building is safe and an independent review of the facility has been completed. Safety comes first. A city leader in oakland has unveiled a Safety Program for the chinatown neighborhood. Mayor libby schaaf along with east bay transit leaders outlined the plan during a News Conference at the intersection of madison and eighth street this morning. The Safety Program calls for major improvements at five dangerous intersections. The mayor says these changes follow a major safety study. We did an analysis of the area with the majority asian population, 30 of the areas fell into a high accident category. So to us, that was a signal that we really have to pay more attention to our asian neighborhoods. The safety improvements including clearly painted vegan spaces, bike lanes and overhead traffic signals. Mayor schaaf joined us this morning and address President Trumps recent threat to conduct immigration raids across the country including in oakland. During that discussion this morning, schaaf used a term that some found inappropriate and offensive. Check California Governor Gavin Newsom is talking about the new state budget that takes effect today. The governor outlined the 215 billion budget at Sacramento City college this morning. The budget provides billions of dollars for improvements in healthcare, housing, childcare and education. And Governor Newsom says his first state budget includes a first, when it comes to helping middleclass families. In order to soften the blow of healthcare, california became the first state in the country, today, became the first state in the country to provide subsidies for families, earning as much as 150,000. Regarding this years budget. A state law when into effect today that takes aim at the sales of ammunition. Proposition 63 was championed by governor gavin newsom. It passed in 2016. It requires buyers to go for a background check before being able to purchase bullets. When you come into the store , you come back and you have to get an approval to buy ammo for us. The approval check 1. If you have a cle which most people will not it is 1 and it happens in about 60 to 90 seconds. If you do not if you are not in the system and you do not have a cle then you have to do a basic background check the cost 19 and can take up to 10 days. Who will not be allowed to purchase ammunition . Basically if you dont qualify to buy a gun, you cannot buy ammo. Other restrictions are exactly what is on the drivers license. A po box will not allow you to purchase ammo. It does not allow you to purchase a gun. We cannot take secondary proof on any of those for ammo. There has been criticism from gunowners that this will increase the amount of time and money it takes to make purchases. Are you hearing those concerns . It is taking a lot longer. Today with processed people and it takes 15 to 20 minutes just to process the paperwork because you got to put into the system. Get them approved and then sell them the ammo. It can take a lot longer. The guns, it takes the same amount of time because we have the same registration on guns. This is just on the ammo sales. Something that used to take 2 or 3 minutes is taking 15 minutes. Advocates say it is inconvenient for lawabiding gun owners and it is necessary but prior to the law there was no way to track the sale of ammunition. Lets put it this way, in 1982 they tried a seminal similar deal. This goes back to when i was a kid. We had to track the ammo sold by register and write it down in a book. That went on about 5 years. It did not do a thing. There checking it again. This is more sophisticated than it was in the past. These gun registration to get guns out of criminals hence. It didnt work. You can buy what you want on the street almost anywhere, anytime. You can cross the border, by a gun, buy ammo there. If they dont catch you coming back, same deal. How will this affect your business . It will cut ammo sales. The last weekend alone, my ammo sales went through the roof like everyone elses. A lot of people came in and bought enough to lessen year. Hoping this will go away in a year or so. Because somebody will put a lawsuit on it. There checking ammo which is in turn trying to restrict gun sales. You cannot buy the ammo, you cant buy the gun.
