This is on fire. This is a two alarm response, we will get you more information, the crews are just arriving on the scene. The smoke was a different color when we first saw it, now it is white, which indicates it has a little bit of water on the fire. Again, when the crews get there, we will let you know when we find out. That is better than the thick black smoke that we saw just a little bit later. Welcome, it has been a busy morning. We are covering the upcoming democratic debate tonight. We will talk about that in a second, first, we will get to the top story today, three people are dead after a shooting in a car dealership in morgan hill. He was in his hand, was a firearm. A handgun. These are people that i know, i never expected this to happen. Officers went inside where they found two male employees and they were later pronounced dead. Employees say that the victims were managers at this dealership and that the shooter had been fired that same day. Police have not released any names, i also made a call to the medical examiner they are not releasing any Additional Details this morning, they say it is too early, they say that the suspect was not a resident of morgan hill. City to ban the sale of vaping and ecigarette products. The city leaders want to stop minors from using ecigarettes as a popularity of vaping has soared among young people. Some Business Owners say this will put them out of business. As you know, Companies Like juul have been increasing addiction to nicotine for young people as young as middle school students, our job is to prohibit these things that are harmful to young people. That is my shop, 100 vapor products, unless i can figure out a way to keep them on and come up with a Business Plan really quickly. It is expected to go into effect in six months, juul , which is based in San Francisco says, it is opposed to youth vaping but itll leave regular cigarettes as the only option for adult smokers. The company is working on a Ballot Initiative that would regulate but not ban e cigarette sales. The first of two residential primary debates will kickoff in miami tonight. The Democratic Party is spreading its 20 contenders among two nights. Among them, elizabeth warren, she is the only candidate in wednesdays group, in the top tier of most polls, she will be joined by nine other candidates including corey booker, beto orourke, and others trying to make a name for themselves. People dont know me the way they know some of the other people in this race, but im going to do what our families do, which is work hard, and to keep going. It is unclear what the topics of the debate tonight will be, but we do know tomorrow night, front runners, joe biden and Bernie Sanders are going to take the stage, joined by Kamala Harris and eric swolwell. The host of the its all political podcast, jared foley joins us this morning, what can we possibly learn from seemingly 1 Million People . Dont think of this as a debate, it is be dated, and you get a first impression. I thought you were going to say, disappointment. You will get some disappointment, you will think, that guy or girl is terrible, but that is all you are expecting tonight. On the group tonight, elizabeth warren, the bigname, is it going to hurt her that shes not going to go up against Bernie Sanders or joe biden . Part of that, you will see her as the alpha candidate, she will definitely stand out, she has a detailed policy for everything, she is quick on her feet, but at the same time, you are right, you are not going to see her with a comparison to the other toptier candidates. Is there going to be a whittling of the candidates . If there is another debate scheduled in the fall, there is a higher threshold, after tomorrow night. And there is one in july also. The next big round, they will be sifted out because they are going to have to have more donors, youre going to have to raise more money, by natural attrition, some of them will be out, and also by tonight, some of those First Impressions will carry on. The people will fall off the polling and they will not be there for the next round. As an american public, we have to start whittling this down pretty quickly. At least the democrats do. So that they can get on with 2020. How quickly is this going to go . It is going to go fall, by october, you will start to see the field shrink a little bit. Remember, some toptier candidates on the republican side in 2016 dropped off by september. You will start to see that happening. The biggest way that the candidates will leave the race is when they stop raising money, and they stop raising money because people dont think they are a good investment. When you dont have money, you dont have a campaign and you go back to your lifes work. With some of these candidates, with a perhaps team up if they realize we are not viable, maybe they will start poking around and asking to be on the ticket somehow . That is way down the road, i think we are going to see that happening next year, for the Vice President ial spot, we will see that happening next year and they will have to stay in the public eye at some point. What do you expect to see tonight . They are trailing behind some bigger name candidates, how do you think it is going to go . I think somebody to watch for tonight will be corey booker, he has the type of personality that can jump through the screen, so he is somebody who could jump through and connect tonight. Someone also to watch is beto orourke , he is tanked, since, this might be his top of venue, he is the guy that likes to jump on top of the table, literally. But if you put him in a suit, and say, okay, stand behind this podium and talk, that is not his thing. We will see if he can jump out of those constraints tonight. Tonight is not the night to go in with a i cannot make a mistake mind state. You have to go big, there can be some candidates that can have an issue, jay inslee, he talks about climate change, that might be a way for people to remember him more. Or, tomorrow night, andrew, he is the guy that wants to give everybody 1000, that guy, i kind of liked him. Piggybacking off your comment, if somehow that makes him tanked, is that it for you . Right now, if you go big, and he will go big tonight, she has to, it is going to be the contrary, these plans about medicare for all, they are terrible ideas but everybody is like, oh, my god, he said that. He will stand out that way. How many people are going to watch tonight . I would imagine most people will tune in when we are down to a few people, this process, is it working for the American Voter . We will see what the ratings are tonight, im very curious, some of these town Hall Meetings on the Cable Networks have surprising ratings, and some of them have tanked. We will see. A viewers tip, tomorrow night is the better night to watch. It is only two hours. Tomorrow night. I will be back tomorrow morning, we will review and preview again. Very good, all right, the senior Political Writer for the coming up, a little bit more politics for you, some developments to bring you over the report of Russian Election interference, when Robert Mueller plans to testify on capitol hill. President trump reacting on twitter, writing, president ial harassment, and weighing in over the phone with fox business networks. My reaction, it never ends, we had no obstruction, we had no collusion. The result of the nearly 2 year long investigation was detailed in a 448 page report, a redacted version of which was released to the public in april, his team finding no evidence to conspired with russia. Robert mueller better be prepared, because i can tell you, he will be crossexamined for the first time and the American People will start to see the flaws in his report. We may already have a pretty good idea of what he will say next month, he previously said he would not provide information beyond what has already been a public appearance before lawmakers. We are staying on top of breaking news in the east bay, this is where firefighters are on the scene of a large fire in emeryville, this is what it looked like in the previous minutes, the situation has changed. At least two buildings caught fire this morning, video here from the citizen app shows smoke pouring out of a two story home, we are on the scene to bring you an update. Reporter im on 47th street right now, and there are three homes that caught on fire, and the firefighters are working on that right now. To get some more details, we have Oakland Deputy fire chief here, to walk us through this, we understand that emeryville fire, they are the ones that are handling this. That is correct, the fire came very close to the city of oakland border, they were calling to smoke in another emergency. The fire department, which provides service to emeryville and oakland responded to this fire. Reporter the call came in around 8 00 this morning, walk us through what happened. We received a call around 8 46, he came through 911, the units were responding to other emergencies, they saw the smoke when they arrived on the scene. All three structures involved, one home, and two adjacent structures that were involved in the fire. Reporter what is the firefight right now . Obviously they are on two of the homes right now, has the fire been put out yet . It is not under control at this time, we are getting very close to getting it under control. The primary building was giving us some challenges but we have overcome that. Shortly, we will have it under control. All occupants have been accounted for, two individuals have been transported to the hospital for minor injuries and several others are being evaluated. Reporter you said the injuries could have been smoke inhalation, is that right . Yes, that is what i was told. Reporter any information for people in this area . Obviously some of these roads are blocked off. Yes, 47th street is blocked off, we are handling all traffic closures, but avoid the area for now until we can get this stabilized. Reporter thank you for giving us that information. Of course, we have this situation that has been going on for just about one hour now, like the chief said, there are three homes that were on fire right now, the firefighters are working very hard to put the fires out. We got on the scene, we saw two people being treated, there was a woman taken away by paramedics, she was holding onto a really small child. As the deputy chief said, there are some people who are dealing with smoke inhalation, but thankfully everybody got out safely. We are going to be hanging out for a little bit, we will see what is going on, there are a lot of people that live in this area who are obviously very concerned about this fire. But it seems to be, the firefighters are working on it and putting it out at this time. It looks very windy where you are, did the wind play a factor reporter the deputy chief has left the area right now, but you can take a look and see that the firefighters seem to be getting it under control, you can assume the wind played somewhat of a factor in spreading this fire, we dont know exactly that answer just yet, but i will definitely get that for you and make sure to follow my twitter. I will make sure to respond to that on twitter as soon as i can. Thank you so much, we can clearly see the homes are very close together in that spot. This morning, when i was checking the wind, they were up to 11 or 12 knots in the area, it is a little windy out there. It is indeed, it is windy right behind you guys. Coming down the estuary, the northwest wind. One of the coolest days on tap for the month, we will take you back to one of the hottest, that was on 11 june, concord was 105, santa rosa, 100, san jose was 99. San francisco, 91 degrees. Tomorrows forecasted highs are showing to be a little bit cooler than that, we will see temperature sliding into the 70s for inland areas and 63. We have gone from one extreme to a cool extreme here, right now, except for some patchy low clouds which are backed up around sfo. Itll be mostly sunny but breezy. Tomorrow will be the coolest day in the source of that is that strong low right off of portland. For this time of year, this is really impressive to see something that strong and the influence of that goes all the way down to southern california. The clouds werent there for a while, now they are beginning to back up against the coast and some of that has pushed a little bit inland as well. 50s and 60s, no 70s. That tells you, it is running a little bit cooler. Concord, fairfield, livermore and sfo are all 4. That onshore wind continues and that continues to turn into the pacific northwest, getting a lot of low clouds in the west as well. Thatll slowly drift over the next few days, but the damage is done, and that damage is a cooler pattern today and the weekend but really not that much. 60s, 70s today, even brentwood, and gilroy, these are all below average temperatures. Tomorrow morning, low clouds, and this looks to be the coolest day thursday, starting to see a rebound on saturday and sunday but still staying below average. Thank you. In the ghost ship trial, Derick Almenas wife will return to the stand today, the defense says they hope she will protect a softer image of Derick Almena who is on trial for manslaughter in the depths of 36 people. It is 9 36, the monumental figure in San Franciscos transgender history will serve as a Lifetime Achievement grand marshal at the San Francisco pride parade this year, Donna Personna has served the community as an artist and activist for transgender rights for decades and this morning, we are happy to welcome Donna Personna to the nine, good morning, donna. Good morning. It is so good to see you, the theme is generations of resistance. What does that mean to you . It means that we are going to put a focus on what has passed in our community and what achievements weve made, maybe from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and to today. We are reflecting on those things, and regenerating a inspiration to safeguard those rights and social justice is. Some people are concerned that the youth of today might either forget or not even know what many consider that very dark and difficult times, that pioneers such as yourself lived through. Can you take us back to when you were growing up in the city, tell me about those days. Okay, well, in the early 60s, i used to come here, to San Francisco, and back then, there was nothing that was organized in our community, at all. Everything was covert, everything was secret. And there was no references, nowhere to go to find out, find likeminded human beings in our community, so i would come to San Francisco and think things were secret, i had to find out where to go, and find people like me. So, it was very frightening because everything was criminal. Anything about homosexuality and being gay was completely criminal. When you see, like yo this weekend, tens of thousands of people celebrating honoring, really just marking lgbt lifestyle, what does that mean to you . To me, it means that we have an opportunity to reignite our inspiration for continued resistance because at this time, i believe there are forces , the Current Administration is pushing back on i think everything that we have achieved. So, it means to me, an opportunity to inspire young people, especially, everyone, that is a part of the community and our allies to get back to the rights. To me. More than the celebration. For a while, in the 80s, and i think in the 90s, it would be, the focus was on celebrating. It was kind of a party. Well, i dont see it that way now. I see it as celebrating what we have achieved, but trying to keep it, and not have it taken away from us little by little, one little thing at a time. And i want young people to realize that what they are enjoying now comes at a cost, the cost of those in the past. So, i say it this way, young people today are standing on the shoulders of those who came before. And those that came before saw a lot of horrendous things, treatment to themselves. Police, and lack of organizations to help them, there was nothing for them. They couldnt go to a hospital, they couldnt rely on police for protection, they lacked housing and employment and they lacked treatment for their transition, these were people, i knew these women that had decided to attempt an authentic life, they wanted to have their outside match their insides. But at that time, it was defiant. So, they had to find these organizations that could help them with their transito say, t the foundation for what the Transgender Community today are enjoying. They established the needs. The needs of transgendered people. Many people dont know that the riot came 3 years after, before stonewall, which many people mark as the beginning of th, but it was 3 years ago in San Francisco. I can talk with you for hours, but we will have to let you go, thank you so much for joining us this morning. Yes, thank you for having me today. Happy pride. You can learn much more about Donna Personna tonight, when we focus on the history of the lgbt activism in the area. Now, we have also created a new people podcast for you, it is out today, we spoke with Donna Personna in recent days, discussing her life as a transgendered woman in the progress she had seen in San Francisco over the decades, you can listen to this in todays new bay area people podcast. He is here, first of all, you know i love you, youre my friend, my family, but you are an incredible actor, director, writer, everything else, im just glad that you are here, that you are based in the bay area, and your show, among many other things, it is one of the best, most acclaimed shows, it is on netflix, how does it feel to be on this particular show . It premiered on the network three seasons ago, and it has been airing on cbs all access, which is a streaming service. But the first season can be seen on cbs proper, it has been airing the last two sundays. It feels good, the writing is good, as you said, it is a very solid acting company and a really good job to have. Tell me about how your career began, i know you are british, you have the british upbringing, you live in the bay area, but you are british. My mom, my family is jamaican, and my mother was part of an influx of hundreds of thousands of caribbean people from the caribbean into to United Kingdom who were come to the uk, to help rebuild the country after world war ii. That is how i came to be born in london. My mother was a nurse, the industry is that the caribbean people were helping to rebuild were the medical industry, transportation construction and all of those people were part of what has become known as the wind rush generation, and it is coined after the ship which was the empire wind rush, which brought the first 300 to england in 1948. You can make a documentary just about that. Documentary, books, there is a lot of research, a lot of data, a lot of information that has not been shared with the world about that part of british history, that is part of what i want to do. I want to ask you a couple of quick things, you just got back from thailand, the movie with spike lee, in vietnam, yes, it is about four Vietnam Veterans going back to vietnam to look for the remains of one of their comrades who they lost in 1971. And youre right, we just did this a month ago, we filmed for two and half months in thailand, and 10 days in saigon in vietnam. Simply an extraordinary expense, i had a phenomenal time. I wish i could talk to you for ever, you have worked with some of the biggest names in hollywood, and you still care passionately about people on the street, about people in general, what is it about you that makes you feel the way you feel . I have never really stopped to contemplate, deconstruct, that is a great question. What i can say is that ever since i started making any money as an actor, which was from the early 1980s, every thanksgiving and christmas, i go out and help treat the homeless. When i got married, my wife accompanied me and we had a son, and we would go out, if im here in the bay area, for thanksgiving and christmas, and we would just give food to people who look like they need it. We get into our car and we drive the streets, and anybody that looks like they could use a food basket, we get it to them. We have been doing that, i have been doing that since the early 1980s. I love what you do, not only as an actor and director but what you do as a person, i love your wife, who i have known for years, and i will continue to follow your career, particularly the good fight, and im waiting to see the new spike lee movie, and anything that you are involved in. And, you are here in the bay area, you are a great, great man. Thank you for making time for being with us on mornings on 2, delroy lindo, always keep an eye on whatever he is doing. Thank you my friend. Good to see you. God bless. Coming up, Andre Iguodalas comment on the coaches discrimination, and how he feels longtime fans are being priced out. There are no plans to cover up a controversial mural at George Washington high school in San Francisco, yesterdays School Board Meeting was packed with people on both sides of whether to keep the mural which was created in 1936 and is considered historic.
