And this was our first look at Madison Bumgarner first just to get a little time with him and chat with him. If you remember, hes coming off a very unusual year for him going into the start of last season, he was considered one of the elite pictures in all of pictures in all of baseball. When he came back, he wasnt really himself until maybe his last couple of starts. Hes such a good hitter. He had two home runs in the giants opener against arizona. They are talking about starting pitchers only going through the opposing lineup two times. You saw a lot of that in the postseason. That is not bumgarners style. Im just more Old School Mindset guy. To me, thats the way the game is supposed to be played. Everybody has their own opinion about it. Whatever ends up happening, im going to compete. To me, thats baseball. You know how he feels about that. No, tell me how he feels. No, all kidding aside, you know, thats not the case with all pitchers. Every game is different for this started starters but you have your elite pictures. Its a different game. Lets be honest here. Hes certainly one of those. The good news, if youre a giant fan, is, as i said, thats the trend in baseball. But it doesnt apply to everybody. Recognizing that. Does nothing typical about Madison Bumgarner. Coming off of that, you were off a 98 loss. Does that give you a chip on your shoulder to kind of lighten up and say, it sure does. Thats the good news for giant fans. Hes not going to buy into that new stuff. He likes to finish what he started. Madison bumgarner wants that. So hes certainly not the typical pigeon picture by todays standards. Im glad you brought up that game last year. I would bring it up cause of mark. I remember him in that game. He had an opportunity to record that first save of the season. Any question if that is his role . Yeah, he is right now. And hes back healthy. He had to have a procedure done as well. He was just a number of guys that the giants were counting on who suffered injuries. Will smith, they were expecting big things from him. He had to have surgery. Hes back and healthy. So thats the way things stand right now. You never know how it all shakes out. The last season was getting tougher and tougher. It was ever endeavor because you saw the same play every single afternoon. And youre right, it started with the very first name of the season and that same theme carried out through out the year.
