Chp is investigating a dead three vehicle crash in antioch. It happened at 7 am on deer valley road. The crash locked both lanes of traffic. And deer valley was shut down for hours. Chp said that one person died at the scene, and two others were seriously injured. Investigators have not said how the crash happened or who is at fault. Police are looking for a suspect in a deadly hitandrun. This happened on macarthur. The victim died on the scene. No other information has been made available by the police. If you have any information call Oakland Police. The Oakland Police department is admitting to making mistakes when it comes to visa applications. They are called uvisa and the department is asking people that were denied to reapply for one. The uvisas post to provide protection for undocumented immigrants were victims of Violent Crime. They dont want people to be afraid to come forward and report crimes because of their immigrations immigration status. 144 uvisa applications were denied. The public defender brought it to the department attention. They say that 25 of those applications were denied by mistake. And they want anyone that applied and was denied to reapply. They say that programs like this are essential to help local Police Build Trust with the community regardless of the immigration status. There could be a Violent Crime trend, and if people are not reporting it, and theyre not comfortable reporting that, or theyre fearful of reporting. It prohibits us from addressing that issue and providing a safe environment for our committee. Local police do not have the authority to approve the u visa. Dhs approved 10,000 uvisa annually. Under the proposed increase. Students would pay 350 more a year. For a total of 13,000 a year for tuition. Outofstate tuition would rise to 29,000 annually. In oakland, a group of Parents Want School district leaders to adopt a zero tolerance policy to lead in schools. The estimated price tag could be 38 million to replace all the plumbing to make sure that there are minimal to zero levels of lead. There has been a lot of work on the issue in the past year. Testing water, those results showed 15 schools that had lead detected above the epa standards. Most of those have been fixed. Parents however warned the district that the standard is not high enough. They want the district to adopt a higher standard. Making sure that no water source has one part per billion. They said there is no safe amount of lead that a child can consume.
