San jose police continued negotiations with a suspect who barricaded himself inside of a hotel room at the Wyndham Garden Hotel on Silicon Valley boulevard. Negotiators are talking to a man wanted on felony warrants who barricaded himself in a room on the second floor of the hotel. This all started sunday afternoon. Police found a suspect wanted on felony warrants inside of the hotel. The perimeter has been here since 6 30 yesterday evening. In addition to police the merge team has been going in and out of the lobby. Deputies from milpitas were seen outside. They have isolated the suspect in one room and evacuated the surrounding rooms on the second floor. It is unclear if the suspect is armed. I cant get into this persons criminal history but at this point we have information that would lead us to believe forcing a confrontation would not be ending well. Reporter negotiators have been talking to him all night but police have not made much progress. Hotel guests who had to evacuate spent the night in the lobby. When we came back around 6 00, all of the policeman were outside of the hotel. They told us that it was a hostage situation and that is it. So we wanted to go to the room but they told us that is not possible. So we stayed in the lobby until now. Reporter police could not confirm if the suspect is alone or not. They have not said if he made any demands so at this time we know that a suspect is barricaded in one of the rooms on the second floor as negotiators have continued to talk to him. Police found one man dead after responding to a report of shots fired. It is not clear what led up to the shooting. The u. S. Senate is scheduled to vote on whether to move forward with passing a temporary spending bill that would reopen the government. This is a live picture inside of the senate chambers. The bill would fund the government for another three weeks and give lawmakers more time to negotiate issues like protection for daca recipients. A candlelight vigil was held last night for two little girls killed in a crash in antioch involving a stolen truck. After being on life support, Camila Cardoza died over the weekend days after the crash killed her sister lenexy cardoza. [ music ] family and friends say that they are struggling to come to terms with the loss of the little girls. Last wednesday a man and a stolen truck ran through a red light and crashed into a truck the girls were in with their mother. The man was trying to get away from the Contra Costa County sheriffs deputy at the time of the crash. The mother of the girls was seriously injured but is expected to survive. This has been a nightmare that is unbelievable. It is hard to come to reality. The suspect in the crash, noe saucedo has been charged with one count of murder, he could be charged with another count this week. He will be in court later this afternoon. A deputy had just turned on his vehicle lights and sirens but there was no active pursuit at the time of the crash. Police have arrested a man for driving his van onto a busy sidewalk. Originally police thought the driver accidentally jumped the curb saturday afternoon, now they have arrested 70yearold kenneth rotter. He will face charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, hit and run driving and driving under the influence. He hit several parking meters entries and then backed into a deli. The real id cards will be mandatory starting in 2020 for anyone who flies. Joining us this morning is a dmv spokesperson, good morning to you. Good morning everyone. So let me ask you, minors under the age of 18, do they need the real id if they are traveling with someone . I have a mother who is older who flies a lot what about Senior Citizens . Do they have to go down to the dmv with the paperwork and get one of these . If she currently has a passport she wont need one but if she doesnt let me start by saying the government has announced a deadline when californians or actually everyone will be required to show valid identification to board a flight. California today is offering a real complying drivers license and Identification Cards which does require an office visit to the california dmv to apply for a real id card. I have a sample copy of what one of them would look like. The new real id drivers license or id card has a grizzly bear with the star on the top right hand corner of the card. This was a sample but this would be the real id federally complying drivers license. As you mention it would be required starting october 1 of 2020. So is everyone eventually going to have one of these cards or from now on will you be giving people the option when they come back so they can get a regular card . Will the regular card go away . Starting today we are offering two types of cards. Noncompliant and the real id federally compliant. Basically we encourage anyone who wants to board a domestic flight in 2020, if your renewal is coming up take a look at the list of documents required on our website and consider applying for the real id card. If youre planning to use your drivers license for the domestic flight. For International Travel you would need a passport but for traveling between San Francisco, the bay area and la and the rest of the country in 2020 in october 1 you will need a federally compliant document. The tsa has posted a list of documents. California is giving customers, california is giving the option to obtain or apply for a real id drivers license or identification card. I dont think anybody wants to spend more time in line at the dmv so what do you expect will happen with the initial push to get the real id then will things quiet down . What is your best advice . That is a great question. The california dmv has been preparing for quite some time for this. One of the things we are doing is opening a field office on saturday. If you dont have time during the week to go to the dmv and you want to apply for the card, come in saturday. The Processing Center in san jose is going to be opened saturday from 8 00 until 1 00 pm and there are several field offices throughout the bay area that will be available on saturday for customers to apply for a license or id card. I do want to emphasize, on the website we have a checklist that you can use to see what kinds of documentation you have and what you will need to apply for the real id card. The in office visit is required so i must emphasize that as well as your Social Security number and proof of address. The real id does not replace the drivers license so if i get pulled over october 1 and i give them my real id card that is not going to count . No . No the real id card is also a document to drive. Federal officials released a statement that reads ice will transfer the case to ice enforcement and removal operations in the area where he resides. An immigration judge will make the final decision on the deportation hearing which could be one year from now. In the meantime he says he is now considering a career as an immigration attorney or judge. The new bart train cars are now in service. The first monday morning commute using some of the new train cars was this morning. One of the new trains is being taken in for maintenance which leaves nine new cars working.
