New this morning in San Francisco there is an Investigation Underway into a freeway shooting on interstate 280. All lanes were shut down for hours but recently reopened. Allie rasmus joins us now so that is some good news and it was obviously a holiday for a lot of people as well. Reporter yes, it was a holiday but you couldnt tell by how backed up the traffic was on the offramp. You can see traffic is moving smoothly right now but in the distance there is one vehicle on the scene. You can see the cars and vehicles driving past it. That was not the case before 10 minutes ago when the freeway was shut down since 3 00 this morning for an investigation into a shooting that happened according to chp next to the 280 s. Bound offramp around 3 00 this morning and for several hours afterward the freeway was closed down completely between alemany boulevard and Mission Street. These Early Morning hours investigators are looking for shell casings on the highway. In the shooting there were about 3 to 6 victims. They did not have information on the extent of the injuries or conditions on what is still unclear is if the victims were in the same vehicle. Unfortunately we do not know, we were just investigating and collecting evidence making the proper arrangements to get this investigated properly. Reporter according to chp it was some of the victims who called police to report the shooting around 3 00 this morning and chp says the victims were able to transport and drive themselves to the General Hospital where investigators have had a chance to interview and talk to some of them about what had happened although they have not released any information on what may have came forward following the conversations. Again, the shooting overnight was southbound 280 for several hours. That was southbound lanes between alameda boulevard and Mission Street but a short time ago chp reopened the traffic. Back to you. Today, thousands will honor dr. King by marching through the financial district. Lieutenant governor gavin newsom plans to be there and the march will start at 11 00 going from the San Francisco station to the gardens. Several streets in the area will be closed. Millions are expected to volunteer in Community Service activities today honoring dr. King. Since 1994 the holiday has been called the national day of service. Police in stockton are asking the public for help to find 20 month old twins were missing. Their parents were found living in a dirty suv with three other Young Children in conditions that social workers are calling deplorable. They also found knives, a machete and drugs in the suv. The other children were placed in protective custody but the parents have refused to tell police where the children are, the 20 month old twins. Police are worried after a comment made by the father last week. You are the ones getting paid, do your job. This is the investigation we are dealing with. As this moves on into the next week or so, we want to remain optimistic, but we have to suspect foul play is involved. Police say relatives of the parents have repeatedly said they have no idea where the twins may be. The parents did not have any photos of the children so the police cannot even as the public if they have seen the children. Newark police are investigating after a fight inside of a Family Restaurant saturday night. A customer shot this cell phone video of the brawl that started with dozens of customers at the johns incredible pizza. Some customers and workers reported minor injuries. There were more than 200 customers inside at the time of the fight and they were not able to sort out who was to blame. They do know the dispute started over a missing cell phone which was later found by restaurant workers. Customers say that they are stunned this would happen inside of a restaurant with so many children around. That is not okay for that to be happening. This is for kids and all of the kids saw that. That is not safe. The bottom line is that it is a childs environment. There are toddlers and babies. It is unacceptable. Police increased patrols around the restaurant yesterday but inside it was business as usual without any problems reported. Some scary moments over the weekend for some riders on one of the oakland zoo sky ride cars. The riders had to be rescued after an electrical fire that happened yesterday at 4 00 in the afternoon when the firefighters arrived, they found the car passengers had already been escorted to safety. Officials clarified the earlier report that said fewer than one dozen people were on the car and that the zoo gondola system was not involved in the incident. The newspaper says ahead of the office of Emergency Services called it the largest debris removal in the state since 1906. Thousands of people gathered in Santa Barbara for a vigil to remember the 20 People Killed in last weeks mudslides. The Community Says they have all been affect. Affected. A lot of emotions spilled over into Santa Barbara when mudslides came through to the neighboring city of montecito. Everyone in our community is hurting. Every family in our community was personally affected. Affected by the loss of 20 lives as of sunday night including a father added to the deceased list. Cal fire says his twoyearold daughter and three other people are missing still. It is pretty sad to hear about the tragedy. It is my backyard right here so i wanted to come show support. It is not clear why the floor collapsed, but Authorities Say it does not appear to be linked to terrorism. Hundreds of University Students were visiting the Stock Exchange at the time. One person died and 60 others were injured in peru after a powerful earthquake. It was a magnitude 7. 1 that hit the western coast. Officials say that a man was crushed by a rock that fell. If youre trying to get to Treasure Island there is a truck stuck on the off ramp to Treasure Island eastbound and the ramp is closed so you will have to come to the toll plaza makes a uturn and go back which is inconvenient to get to Treasure Island. All lanes of the freeway were shut down for hours. They just reopened 30 minutes ago. The shooting was at 3 00 this morning in the southbound lanes of 280 at ellen meny boulevard. 3 to 6 people were involved and we do not know the extent of their injuries or if they were in the same car. The march will culminate here around noon celebrating the life of Martin Luther king jr. A truly remarkable person who for 13 years fought for civil rights and changed the country. All of those years culminating in his assassination he had a target on his back. It is said he walked amongst us for a short time but his footfalls will be heard for centuries. Just after 4 30 a man was shot on mason street near union square. A nearby Security Guard heard four or five shots and a hotel guest says he had just arrived at the hotel as the shooting happened. It was pretty hectic. There were police cars converging here. I saw a few of them coming up this oneway street on mason pulling into this king george area from all different angles and after that, all of the police fanned out in groups of three and four sweeping the area. We do not know the name of the victim but he was shot at least once. He was rushed to the hospital with light evening injuries. The San Francisco Fire Department is being investigated by the state over allegations of it allowed a group of paramedics to work without proper credentials. Candice nguyen found out, the employees now fear that their jobs are on the line and say it is not their fault. The paramedics say that this came as a huge surprise even though some were told this was a paperwork mistake they fear that their jobs and reputations have been jeopardized. When every second counts, paramedics are some of the first on the scene. Highly skilled individuals whose careers depend on the public trust. On january 8, 13 paramedics received this letter of an open investigation against their employer, the San Francisco Fire Department. And medical services investigator is looking into if the department allowed them to work in the field without proper county accreditation. Keep in mind none of these people ever had a lapse in their state license or their city and county accreditation. Stephen from San Francisco fire is representing the 13 paramedics. He says they are individually licensed but the Fire Department made a clerical error allowing them to work in the field for months without the correct paperwork. That was reported back to the state. Now if investigators decide to pull their license these paramedics are worried they may lose their jobs. Do you think they dropped the ball . I think so, yes. Yes, this was something they are in charge of. All of our members of the Fire Department work so hard every day. It is for the city and to have this happen, you know you make them upset and angry and obviously put some fear Something Else could happen to their livelihood. Since 2014 we have been reporting on delays with ambulance response times in San Francisco. The city cannot afford to lose even one paramedic. It could cause a problem to the system in the city which is already being pushed to the limit. Why do you think this happened . I dont know. That is a great question. How confident are you this will not happen again . From my understanding they are working with the local agency and with the state ems that this does not happen again. We received a response from San Francisco fire lieutenant Jonathan Baxter who said there was a procedural error which was identified and corrected. Safeguards have been put into place to prevent this error from occurring in the future. At no time was Public Safety compromised. In santa ana two people are lucky to be alive after their car went out of control, flying through the air and smashing into the second floor of a building. This is where it landed. The car hit the Center Divider and then flew through the air to the top floor of the building. The front half was wedged into the building, the back just hanging out. I saw differences of 10 degrees for one area alone for the forecasted highs. 40s and 50s with some 30s for a while. Mid 40s at the peninsula with woodside and 46, los altos and san carlos in the mid40s as well. 54 atmos beach with a high of 60 in santa cruz. The Pegasus Airlines flight overshot the airstrip during a landing on saturday and the plane skidded over the edge of the cliff. One report says the only thing keeping the plane from plunging into the sea is that the wheels got stuck in the mud. Chaos and panic erupted inside of the plane, one passenger says they had to wait 20 minutes before rescue crews arrived but all 162 passengers were somehow able to make it out safely. Investigators have interviewed that pilot and are focusing on the black boxes. Crews are calling the catch a miracle after a baby was born thrown out of a burning building. The firefighter was able to catch the newborn baby in mid air while fighting the apartment fire. Several people were rescued including one woman in a wheelchair. The Biggest Surprise to the fire captain was when she was climbing up the ladder and saw a flash of a baby blanket coming at her with a newborn inside. I saw blue coming. It was the blanket all wrapped up so my hands came off and i caught him. There is no better feeling in the world. The family that was trapped has eight children and they were all able to make it out safely. In oakland, homeless advocates felt their message was not getting through to the mayor libby schaaf so they took the protest to the mayors house. The protesters held a rally before marching to the home in oakland and setting up a temporary camp. The mayor says she continues to do everything she can to ease the homeless crisis. Protesters say that more people are being pushed out of their homes by rising rent and little protection for tenants. Thousands of San Francisco hosts on airbnb are facing a deadline of tomorrow to register their Vacation Rentals with the city. It is part of a settlement with the city of San Francisco, airbnb and another site agreed to require all hosts to register with the city by tomorrow. If the hosts do not register they are supposed to be kicked off the website. More than 2000 hosts have registered as of last thursday but that is a small amount of the 8000 hosts listed on airbnb for San Francisco. Sonoma county residents are warned about a phone scam involving though pg e bills. Colors are posing as pg e workers threatening to disconnect Utility Service unless an immediate payment is made. The scammers can make caller id numbers look like legitimate pg e phone numbers. The thieves frequently request a you prepaid cash card. Interstate 280 is back opened after being shut down for hours because of a shooting on the freeway. Allie rasmus joining us live from the scene with more on the story. Reporter chp open up the freeway just before 7 00. If i step out of the way you can see traffic is moving smoothly on 280 southbound. That was not the situation overnight when vehicles were being diverted off of the alemany boulevard exit. That was all before southbound 280 but now everything is opened because of this investigation into a shooting. This happened adjacent to the 280 southbound offramp at alemany boulevard around 3 00 this morning. For several hours the freeway was shut down between alemany boulevard and Mission Street. Chp was on the scene searching for evidence. The Police Received a call of a shooting on southbound 280 adjacent to the alemany boulevard offramp. Police received a call from the victim that transported themselves to the hospital. Reporter the chp says that there were between three and six victims involved in the shooting. We do not know the extent of the injuries. Chp was not sure if the victims were in the same vehicle when the shooting happened but as you heard they were able to drive themselves to San Francisco General Hospital where some of the investigators have been trying to speak with them about what happened. For several hours between 3 00 and 7 00 this morning southbound lanes of 280 between alemany boulevard and Mission Street were entirely shut down for the shooting investigation, but just before 7 00 everything reopened. Millions of people will be volunteering in Community Service activities today in honor of dr. King. A customer shot this cell phone video of the fight involving dozens of customers at johns incredible pizza company. Customers and workers reported minor injuries with more than 200 customers inside at the time. They were not all able to sort out who was at fault. The dispute started over some sort of missing iphone which was later found. Customers were taken aback that this would happen with so many children around. That is not okay for that to be happening. This is for kids and all the kids saw that which is not safe for the kids. The bottom line, it is a childs environment. There are toddlers and babies. You know, it is unacceptable. Police increased patrols around the restaurant yesterday, inside was business as usual without any problems. We have a deadly flu season and some bay area pharmacies are running out of the flu vaccine. A number of the flu deaths this year have led to a spike in the number of people getting the flu shot. Health officials have not said there is a vaccine shortage but some pharmacies say that they ran out or in short supply and it could take days to restock. In a bad case you need standard precautions. Health Officials Say that many of those who died were not vaccinated. At the vaccine is in short supply you can check with the Health Department in your county to find other locations. The easterly breeze is coming from the valley due east at napa airport and northeast for Fairfield Travis and when the fog comes in it is tough to move it we just need some good wind or rain to lift that. By tonight and early tomorrow we could get some of that helping. A couple of systems are coming with clouds and fog today some rain later on. Tuesday morning we get a little bit and then we have a break wednesday with the cooler color system thursday and friday and sunday the coldest in a while helping the sierra snowpack. Welcome back to mornings on 2, we are learning some new information about the woman who died when a shuttleboat traveling to an offshore casino ship caught fire yesterday. The Tropical Breeze Casino Crews Company says the victim was a 42yearold woman who died yesterday after being taken to the hospital. When the shuttleboat caught fire about 50 passengers and crew members had to jump into the water to escape. Originally the casino ship operator said 15 passengers suffered minor injuries including chest pains and smoke inhalation. The Casino Company says there had never been problems with the boat before. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Thousands gathered in Santa Barbara for a vigil to remember the 20 People Killed in last weeks mudslides. [ singing ] the latest victim was identified as a 30yearold father, his twoyearold daughter is among four people missing. Those who died range in age from three years old to 89. People in the area say the entire community has been affected. It is pretty sad to hear about the tragedy. It is my backyard here so i wanted to come and show support. Crews are digging through the mud and debris searching for big dems. More than 70 homes were destroyed. There is a twomile stretch of highway 101 that is closed. State officials in the north bay are near a milestone in the cleanup from the wildfires, debris removal could be finished in santa rosas coffey park within two weeks and by the end of february for the rest of Sonoma County. The announcement was made saturday at santa rosa high school. The head of the California Office of Emergency Services calls the removal of the largest in the state since 1906. In indonesia more than 50 people were injured when the second floor collapsed inside of the Stock Exchange. It is not clear what caused the floor to collapse but Authorities Say that it does not appear to be connected to terrorism. San Francisco Police hope that footage from a Security Camera will help them find a gunman from an Early Morning shooting yesterday when a man was shot in the tenderloin on mason street. Just west of union square. A Security Guard nearby heard five shots and a guest at a hotel says he pulled up as the shooting took place. It was pretty hectic. The rohnert park Public Safety Department Says callers are posing as pg e workers starting to disconnect Utility Service unless payment is made. The scammers can make caller id numbers look like legitimate pg e phone numbers. The thieves request prepaid cash cards which the utility says it never does. A plan to put a bike lane on the upper deck of the Richmond San Rafael bridge is being hit with opposition. The season got off to a late start but the far northern coast was delayed three times due to the shellfish not being mature enough to harvest. Boiling lobster while they are alive will be illegal in switzerland starting march 1 lobsters must be unconscious while boiled or killed instantly.
