This unfolded a round 2 29 this afternoon when a customer drove up to the exterior atm. She was trying to use the machine when she noticed a man pacing back and forth in front of the atms with a handgun exposed that she immediately called 911 Police Responded by setting up a perimeter around the bank, and not letting people in or out. This man was said to be a hispanic male around 30 years old, who was known to police. They have been dealing with him since he was 8 years old. The redwood city uniformed Police Responded, also, a specialized street crime unit that is trained in mental health. They began negotiating with this man for several minutes. The man then raised his gun and fired in the direction of officers, who then responded and returned fire with lethal force. Police say, they made every effort to end this without the loss of life. We heard this this afternoon from the interim police chief. They say that im to say that i am satisfied with the outcome or the police are engaged in the consequences are a citizen has to come to come to do. Im not satisfied with that. What i am satisfied is with is the officers attempted negotiation, to try to negotiate a surrender. To use every tool they had available to them. Specialized training, specialized equipment, and the time that they had to delay, de escalate the situation to where it was just conversation. Family, friends, and fellow officers said their final farewells to california Highway Patrol officer, Andrew Camilleri. Kristin captain was in stockton, where services were held. Trip reporter the hearse carrying officer Andrew Camilleri arrived at the Christian Life center in stockton on a cold foggy morning, with hundreds of officers at attention to pay their respects. Officer camilleri was hit and killed Christmas Eve by a suspected impaired driver. His partner, jonathan velasquez, injured in that craft, crash, spoke at the ceremony. He said in the month they worked together, they created an unbreakable bond. Andrew, i know you can hear me. I love you, buddy. It was an honor being your partner. Rest in peace, brother. Reporter while many remembered the man in the uniform, camilleris brother remembered the man who always wore a smile. Andrew, you are beautiful your beautiful smile and wonderful, loving personality will truly be missed. Reporter camilleris Commanding Officer also remembered that smile. He said he would show up at work with a good attitude every day. He died doing exactly what he wanted. Protecting the public. Andrew prided himself in arrested arresting dui drivers. By all accounts, camilleri had achieved a lifelong dream by becoming a chp officer, and will live on in the hearts forever in the hearts of his wife and three children. In stockton, fox2 news. A surfer in marin county was bitten by a shark today. It happened off the coast of marin county, when a shark bit a surfers foot. Around 4 00, National ParkService Officials were telling people that the water in the area is off limits until further notice. At this time, we have not heard the extent of the surfers injuries. A pedestrian was seriously hurt today in vallejo when he was struck by a car. That happened just before 2 30 this afternoon. Fire crews responded to the scene, and found the victim lying on the ground. We do not know the extent of the mans injuries. There are reports, a sheriffs deputy was pursuing the car involved in the collision. But the Sheriffs Office has not yet confirmed this. Six people are in the hospital after two people trying to get away from police crashed into a family of four. San Francisco Police say the suspect spotted a patrol car, and made a uturn on fulton avenue. Witnesses said the car sped away at 100 miles per hour. The suspect then reportedly ran a red light, tbones a family of four in a black acura, and crashed into the entrance of golden gate park. Both the victims and suspects were taken to the hospital. But, just one person is in serious condition. In cupertino, one person has died after becoming trapped in a car on fire. The car fire happened a round 9 30 this morning near the Lehigh Hansen the event facility. Firefighters quickly got the fire out, but were not able to find a saved save the person inside.
