County as well. Our live camera looking out toward the bay bridge, looking out toward the city of San Francisco and not much in the way of fog, completely different story compared to yesterday at this time. For this morning we are tracking some patchy fog out there and then into the afternoon hours mostly sunny skies, upper 50s to the mid 60s, so pretty mild once again later on today. We will take a look at those numbers in your neighborhood in a few minutes. Allie standing by and she has an update on the roadways. Good morning to you, allie. Good morning, mark. We are going to start with a look at the san mateo bridge and some of the maps there because we have a minor injury to talk about. This came up on the chp log, san mateo bridge east of the highrise a stalled vehicle in the slow lane partially blocking the slow lane. Doesnt seem to be causing a big residual backup but taking a look at the san mateo bridge camera, maybe why you see a little bit more tail lights on the righthand side of the screen as traffic makes its way over to the peninsula. Taking a look at 280 in san jose in the south bay, traffic moving along nicely in both directions. And the bay bridge toll plaza, this has been the story all morning long, if you have to drive into the city, its going to be a pretty easy commute for you. Theres no wait to make your way onto the span. Time now is 6 02. Lets go back to the desk. Thank you. New this morning, an injured man who spent hours stranded in the cold during the night at usualis reservoir has been rescued. Rescue teams say the man slipped and fell at the reservoir sometime last night. Ktvus Christien Kafton in los gatos with more on how he was found. Christien. Reporter yeah, this is one of the rescue crews that actually helped find that man, they are back here at the station now, that victim spending hours in the chilly temperatures overnight with a badly broken leg. Lets go ahead and show you some of the video what that looked like. A 40yearold homeless man was on foot at uvis reservoir. He slipped and fell sometime before midnight last night. He fell some 10 feet and broke his leg. You can see the blood on his pant leg. That man, though, did have the wherewithal to use a light to flag down a passing vehicle, making that rescue all the more difficult, the victim does not have a mobile phone and was stranded on the far side of the reservoir. Firefighters estimate he was about 150 yards away from hicks road. Driving down hicks road and then we see a light flashing from over there so agree to pull over and then get out of the car and we hear a guy moaning like hes in pain and we yelled back and forth asking what happened and he fell down the hill somehow and broke his knee. Reporter firefighters saying he was very fortunate that that group spotted him, that group of students called 911 and stayed with the man until he was rescued yelling back and forth across the reservoir trying to get a sense of how he was doing. It took crews about 15 minutes to reach him and about an hour to get him out of the rough terrain. The man transported to an area hospital for valuation evaluation. We have heard he was transported in stable condition. Now, firefighters again saying it was very fortunate that that carload of students spotted him and called 911. They say that those temperatures, as you heard mark talk about a moment ago, plunging overnight and who knows if the outcome could have been very different if that group of students hadnt spotted him and called 911 and stayed with him to make sure that rescuers were able to get to him and get him out of that area. Boy, thats for sure. Thank you, christien, an incredible story. Yeah. 6 04 is the time right now. This Morning Police are investigating a shooting that happened in East San Jose last night. A woman driving behind the bus on shoreline boulevard pulled over to call 911. Very upset, yeah, when i was on the phone with 911 i was telling her that people were running over to the individual and trying to help him and at that point when someone tried to turned him over, there was a scream. Its not clear who is at fault or if there were passengers on the google bus at the time but the bus driver remained at the scene and appeared to be cooperating with police. Time now 6 06. Now, extra police and firefighters will be patrolling throughout the city. Every year about 200,000 people celebrate the new year at San Franciscos waterfront. Its nice if you do have to go back to work or if you have to get out and about, because its been very light all week. Yes. You know, typically 6 15, thats when we start to see things get a lot busier throughout the morning. Right. But you keep checking the maps and the chp information. There are a few things to talk about. Lets start off with a look at the map but definitely overall pretty easy compared to a typical thursday morning, but first off, 580 eastbound at the vasco road offramp, a crash that happened, a car versus a flatbed truck. They are bringing fire trucks and ambulances to the scene, although its not popping up on the map here, probably because its on that offramp but just something to be aware of on 580. Zoom in there, you can see its not registering on these maps but north of there in the trivalley area, a traffic hazard at 680 southbound, this is also on the offramp of the ose taro offramp in the danville area, a report of an abandoned car they are trying to move out of the way. Something to be aware of driving in that area. North of that, if you are going eastbound on 24 actually, east and westbound on 24 looks good this morning. Quite a few cars on the road but traffic moving smoothly so a nice Holiday Light commute there. And the drive from the carquinez bridge to macarthur maze 17 minutes all morning. Thats probably as good as it could ever get for this time of the morning. Time now is 6 17. Lets send it over to mark in the weather center. The morning moving along nicely out there. We have some patchy fog to talk about, especially up in portions of the north bay. Not as widespread as yesterday but still some dense patches paying us a visit. Outside right now we have this, our forecast for today, our dry weather stretch will continue, 30s and 40s this morning, more sunshine this afternoon. Upper 50s, low to mid60s. Take a look at these current numbers, these are the actual temperatures, not the wind chill temperatures and buffalo has warmed up to 3 degrees. They were 1 degree at last check earlier today. So you can see the bitterly cold air mass over portions of the country. Not for us, though. We have a few high clouds approaching the north coast of california and the bay area as well. So right now those clouds moving into portions of the south bay. Current numbers we have fairfield right now 32, santa rosa 34, walnut creek in the upper 30s there. San jose 41, and San Francisco in the 40s as well. Fog reports, these numbers move it seems every update these numbers changing quite a bit. Fairfield half an hour ago 1 mile now to 2 miles. Novato, near zero visibility. The fog less widespread this morning but still dense patches out there for you looking out live toward the bay bridge and San Francisco. Overall weather pattern for today, a mild one setting up with the forecast highs this afternoon in the low to mid60s and then dry, mild weather stretch that will continue. The final days of 2017, so thursday, friday, saturday, sunday will be dry, we are still trying to figure out rain chances into next week, some of the forecast models suggesting a pattern change that could bump up the rain chances. Thats still quite a few days away. This forecast model keeping us dry into early next week with possibly some developments by later in the week. So watch out for that. Today forecast highs most areas in the 60s, later on this afternoon, hayward 62, san jose 64 and Half Moon Bay 61 degrees. Look ahead, your fiveday forecast, it is quiet for friday, we will call it partly cloudy for saturday and sunday in 2018, probably just starting out the year with more clouds out there, thats just about it. Pam and dave, we see that five day, you can see the 60s there. Some of the parts of Monterey County could be approaching the 80degree mark. Can you believe that . Yeah. So it will be it does not feel like december out there and still almost feels like the middle of summer. And i love summer and i love the beach but i am ready to ski and rain and hopefully we will get the nice reset in the new year. I hope so. Thank you, mark. On the block that we are on, though, we looked up and down, didnt see any glass on the ground so i guess thats a good sign but back in office the police chief tried something new in trying to prevent the car breakins, however, the numbers have just kept going on going up. Instead the chief doubled the number of officers on foot patrol to prevent auto burglaries but each month the car breakins and burglaries have gone up. The Police Department says one factor is the people committing the crimes are an organized group of serial auto burglars. In fact, a civil grand jury report in 2016 found that gangs were responsible for 80 of car burglaries. County tax collectors are contacting homeowners to make sure they know about an option to pay property taxes before the end of the year. That would allow you to avoid potential problems on the new republican tax overhaul plan that takes effect january 1st. The new rules cap state and local Tax Deductions at 10,000, particularly affecting people who write off property taxes. By paying it now, some homeowners could save hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars. I heard about it on the news, of course, and decided that i would be better off to do this than not because its quite possible that it will save me on my taxes. Reporter by that point all 83 had awoken and were audibly angry about the move but otherwise they seemed unharmed. Gave them some oxygen, warmed them up in incubators and then carefully evaluated each and every one of them. They are perfectly fine, so the decision was made to return them back to where they were found. Reporter these particular bats are insect eaters and fully grown are only about 3 1 2 inches in length. They are a species of special concern because their habitats are dwindling but luckily this colony had its home restored. Taking a look at the macarthur maze, east shore freeway looking good, moving nicely all morning, no problems to tell you about as you approach the bay bridge. West of here, 24 and lafayette, few more cars out on the road than you would expect this morning, busier compared to this picture right here of the bay bridge toll plaza, normally around sunrise this is jam packed all the way back to the maze but its a very easy drive for you as you make your way onto the span. We are looking for rainfall, we will take this into next week and this forecast model keeps us dry into early next week. Looks like maybe we could be introducing some rain chances by tuesday or wednesday but still a lot of uncertainty with that potential change in the overall weather pattern. Lake tahoe for today its in the clear but heres the forecast for friday, saturday and sunday, still mostly sunny skies, pretty mild in south lake tahoe, look at the afternoon highs in the low to mid50s.
