The suspect was arrested and taken to the hospital where he is expected to survive. His name has not been released. Oakland police are investigating two rapes that happen in the city early yesterday morning. The first was about 2 30 a. M. , when a Woman Told Police she was attacked while walking along international boulevard, near garfield park. Two men armed with a knife, raped her, and then ran away. She was taken to the hospital for a head injury. Police are investigating a second rape that happened just before 6 30 yesterday morning, on broadway, about two blocks from the 12th street bart station. This victim was taken to the hospital, and the suspect has been arrested. No other details have been released by police. The two cases do not appear to be related. Four people have been displaced after an Early Morning house fire, in San Francisco. This happened shortly before 1 a. M. On prospect avenue, firefighters were on the scene within minutes, and managed to get everyone out of that burning home safely. The two alarm fire caused major damage, including damage to the neighboring homes on either side of the house. The red cross is now helping 4 residence. He died late last night after a driver suspected of being under the influence crashed into the patrol car he and his partner were in. The two officers had been parked on the interstate of 880 patrolling for reckless or impaired drivers. Four days they do not know whether they were going to live, but they found help. Reporter it is very to say, the hickmans are still settling in. They just moved into this house, after spending weeks in a hotel, and things will take a little getting used to. The desk and table handme downs from michelles aunts. Reporter almost a little different now. Virtually everything is new, or donated. There has been an immense amount of support from family and friends. Just the community in general. Reporter for almost nine years, home was north of town. Tech in the hills it was their secluded retreat. The northbay fires came so quickly, on october 8, in just a moment, a normal night turned into a race to escape the flames. You could see it through the trees. Reporter the day we visited what was their own home, the wind was screaming through the trees, as we walked up the driveway. This wind is making me nervous. It was like this that i. Reporter they will never forget that night. After family dinner, with our two children are detected in their beds. The howling winds and the deadly fire came on so fast. Is a came around the corner, i saw through the trees, a wall of orange. It made your heart skip a moment, it was probably a sound i will never forget. Hearing the wind whipping, and seeing that. I sprinted up the hill, and found her already on the phone with 911. My 911 call was at 9 41. Victoria was supposed to be asleep, but they like to look out her bedroom window. Since then, they have been trying to move forward. For dan hickman, that meant finding a new home. That wednesday, after the fire started, i jumped on craigslist and started looking. Reporter he found this one, it was still being renovated but he applied right away. He knew they were not the only ones facing this long road of recovery. We did have an easier time getting in. The owner made a reference to having received numerous phone calls, from thirdparty insurance companies, and the like looking for places for other victims of the fire, to be able to put them up while their homes are being rebuilt. Finding a was only half the battle. The hickmans had enjoyed a low fixed rent, for many years. This home cost more. Family members offered to help, but making the numbers work took some work. That is where the chronicle season of sharing fund stepped in. The fund provides temporary assistance to people in need, in the bay area. It paid the hickmans first months rent. Our new rent payments double what we were paying before. Having one month taking care of, that is a pretty sizable chunk. We blend that out over the next year, that makes this place much more affordable for us. Reporter as they build his new home they are grateful for the help that continues to come in. The bunk bed mangled by fire, in the childrens old room, has been replaced. The two kids had to share a room before. Now they have separate spaces. Reporter her sixyearold brother, alex, sleeps on the bed bought with the help of gift cards from community groups. He plays at a table full of donated legos. It is a happy christmas for one Northern California family who thought they lost a box of priceless family photographs and letters. Thanks to the Roosevelt Police department and the internet they were able to get it. A city worker found a simple ivory cover memory box while cleaning up a homeless encampment. Inside were letters, pictures and postcards dating back to the 1920s. These family heirlooms belong to a roseville woman named connie hall, who had been cleaning out her garage. This ended up in the trash, and after i put everything back in the garage. You know, i did not realize this was missing. When police found that vintage box, they were desperate to find out who the owner was. They used facebook to spread the word, as well as family members to try to get the word out.
