Its unlikely that the crash was caused by a Maintenance Issue on the track. The official cause of the derailment is not known. And the lead investigator is expected to arrive at the crash scene by tonight. Hes accompanied by ntsb staff with expertise in operations, mechanical, track, signals, human performance, and survival factors. On the ground near the crash scene there were several medical tents set up to help the passengers. As we mentioned this was a brand new passenger route for the train. 78 people and passengers and four crew members were on board the train at the time of the derailment. It was part of a high speed Passenger Rail project. All southbound lanes in dupont remain shut down and the concern is that while they have confirmed six passengers on the train died, the number of the People Killed in the derailment is expected to rise. Bart police are searching for three men behind a terrible attack at the hayward station. Alex savidge has more. Reporter bart police are continuing to search for three when who carried out this violent attack. The attackers in this case stabbed one man and punched the woman that he was with in the face. This happened just before 9 30 last night at the parking extra structure at the hayward station. Officers found a 28yearold man and a 28yearold woman who had within injured. The victims were taken to the hospital. The mans stab wounds are not considered lifethreatening but he did undergo surgery at the hospital. And the woman suffered minor injuries to her face. The motive in this case is unclear and people who regularly use the hayward station say this kind of crime shows why its important to remain cautious. Its devastating.
